How soon did you suspect you were pregnant?
When did you first get an inkling that you might be pregnant? What made you think you might be in the family way? And when did you switch from wishful thinking 'I hope I am, I might be...' to 'I'm pretty sure'?
The day your period is due is too soon to take a test and expect to get a result, isn't it? I've been having mild period-type cramps for three days but I haven't started yet, and I don't usually get cramps until AFTER I start menstruating. I don't want to get myself worked up over nothing... and I know it's too soon for any of the typical pregnancy symptoms to have shown up even if I WAS so I don't want to wishful-think myself into a big letdown in the very first month!
The day your period is due is not too soon to take a test. In fact, several tests are accurate up to 5 days prior to your missed period. Take a test now if you like, but take it first thing in the morning.
Turns out I was only 3 weeks when I started getting that nauseous feeling, and I just knew - it was weird, because I was NOT trying to get pregnant, it total surprise. Good luck!!!
Be careful with those tests that claim you can use them before your missed period - their accuracy rate is like 55%, which is totally not worth it in my opinion :) Since I don't have any kids, I don't have anything else to add. I've just seen far too many women let down by those tests.
The test was negative... but I feel like crud tonight and I still haven't got my period. I think I overdid it today. DH told me that if I don't get my period by the weekend he'd get me a test, but I told him I already took care of it! Oh well, wait and see what happens... no period in a few days equals try again first thing in the morning.
With both pregnancies I knew right away. The first symptom I had with both of them was dreams that I had conceived. Also, about 7-8 days out from my missed periods I started to notice symptoms, nipple tingling, extreme tiredness and just this feelings of knowing... somehow I just knew.
With my first pregnancy I needed a scan and in order to get the scan I had to do a pregnancy test before they'd do the x-ray. The first blood work was about 8 days out from my period, which would have been a day or two before I would have meant to have implanting, however when we took the blood work, they told me it was positive, but looked funny and could we do another one. I said of course and the next test came back inconclusive and that night I started bleeding ! Thinking how silly it was that I'd wasted two hours at the hospital I laughed at myself and let my hopes for a baby go away, since I had my period..or so I thought. The next day I got the results from the third test and it told me I was negative and since I was bleeding I thought " yeah, that would be right" But, as soon as the bleeding started it stopped so I took a fourth blood test two days later and it came back positive ! The day of the first test, the baby was implanting and that was why the tests were so confused.
The second pregnancy, I had the dream and I just knew ! I was about 6 days out from my period when I took the test, it was a digital one and it came back positive ! So, of course that night I went on a crazy testing binge and used up about 5 tests all positive.
With both pregnancies I had symptoms from day of implantation, which I am told is rare...but I've always been in tune with my body.
Since your test came back neg. if you still don't get your period I'd wait two days then test again. The level of HCG doubles about every 24 hours in the beginning so if a test didn't pick it up, it has a better chance every two days.
Maybe I'm having an imaginary pregnancy - I wouldn't put it past my body to pull a stupid stunt like that. My nose has gone into overdrive and I was so tired last night I lay down at eight o'clock and I was asleep by nine, and I'm still so tired this morning that I want to go back to bed! I took another test this morning just to be sure but it's definitively negative. Anyway, no more tests for me. There's no point obsessing!
I tested and got a (faint) positive at just 9 days post ovulation, I tested again at 11 days post ovulation and had a dark positive right away. I tested in the first place because I kept getting quick little dizzy spells at work, my breasts were sore, and I wasn't interested in food at all.
Some women don't get a positive result until days after they miss their period. If you keep testing and keep getting negatives, I would request a blood test.
You could still be having adjustment-type symptoms from going off the pill... it messes with your hormones and your body has to get used to them not being there. Or possibly you lucked out first try. There's only one way to find out for sure and that's to wait and see!
With my first pregnancy (which I miscarried), I wasn't sure I was pregnant up until I missed my period. My period had become the most regular thing on the planet once I started taking birth control, and continued to be extremely regular once I was off it.
This time around I knew by about a week or two afterwards. With my first pregnancy, my boobs hurt. I had never had tender boobs at any point in my life except for when I was pregnant the first time. So this time, when my boobs started to hurt again, I knew I was. I actually had to wait about 3-5 days before I would allow myself to test, as I had a First Response test left over from a couple of months ago. I was one of those cases where I tested 5 days before my missed period and got a positive result. It wasn't even as faint as I thought it was going to be.
Now I'm a little over 5 weeks along and already developing a bit of morning sickness. Just enough to be annoying, though, and not really sick. Just feeling blah and exhausted.
