Soreness vs Fatigue, Ladies? (Guys too I guess)

Quote  |  Reply

OK OK, I started exercising again this week and my muscles were getting sore after 1 day, so I worked through it and magically on day 4 I think, the soreness left, but has been replaced by this phantom fatiguey feeling... Now this is different for me, so I am not sure if I should work through this as well, or if I should take a day off.

My dilemna is that I have timed this return to exercise around my time of the month (bc too close to that time, and I would get EXTRA sore, and wouldn't be able to go on) but if I rest from the fatigue, will I get sore, and have to start the whole cycle again closer to my TOM. ARGH bc if I am too close when I restart, it will take me like a week to bounce back!!!

Should I:

a. work through it, and hope that it also magically dissapates

b. rest and hope for the best

c. do some light activity, but not the "body attack" class I was planning to do

when i'm tired, my boot camp head puts my sneakers in their place.  however, it sounds like you're new to exercise.  it's not at all surprising, then, that you're body is tired; it's unused to this much activity and is having trouble keeping up.  e

ease into it.  when your body's a little stronger and your metabolism a bit faster, you'll experience the sheer joy of attending at many body attack classes as your little legs will allow.  ;)

Hi what worked for you?

I am having the same extreme fatigue problem, I'm down right now!

I have been burning 800-900 calories a day for four days, on dy at 300, and then 800 again last night.  I am almost too tired to function at work.

I made a doctors apointment for TOMORROW

i had that once, usually means not eating enough for your activity level. usually. what pre & post workout snacks are you eating. if your concerned about watching calories..believe me they are not a waste of calories if you want to be able to exercise harder & recover for the next session.

Ummm...you are burning 800-900 calories on top of what your body normally burns DAILY?? I'd say that is the source of your fatigue. You are running your body to its limit with no breaks, what do you expect it to do but to get tired? My guess is that you are not eating/drinking enough either and that just piles on top. Take a few days off there, eat and drink good foods, get some rest and you'll be feeling better in no time. Our bodies are not machines, they require attention and fuel. If you continue to run it continuously, it will break down.
