It depends on where you live.  For me, since I live in Colorado I'd go down to see some ancient Native American ruins, the mountains etc.

But you dont think its stupid going on my own? Its something I really want to do, Its not even that far from were I live.

Not stupid, not even in the least, i do stuff like this all the time, i only did the hotel thing once ( to expensive on a college buget, i know) i stayed in my own room, ordered a pizza ( i live in a small town this was amazement to me,) but what i usually do is go up to the mountains, camp by a stream no one knows about, off the road, not in a campground.  Everyone need's there alone time, just how we get it is uniuqe.

Absolutely, go!  Life is for living!

I've moved clear across the country totally on my own a few times, and it's very liberating - you get to be whomever you want, even if it's only for a couple of days! :)  And seeing new things will stretch your mind.

Of course, take the normal precautions - don't go off with strangers to secluded places, don't take anything that makes you lose control of your faculties, and you should be fine.  Better than fine.  Time alone is a great time to find yourself.  I'm a loner, so I NEED time alone on occasions just to recharge my batteries.

Taking a couple of days of R&R by myself in a hotel is sounding very tempting right now ... hmmm ....

Dear me -- GO FOR IT.

Go for it!

Also, I am a super gigantic nerd.  I would go down to DC and spend the days I was there in the Smithsonian.  The last time I was in DC, I arrived at the American History museum shortly after they opened for the day, and I got whisked out at closing time.  I hadn't even made it through 2 floors.  Frown

I'd probably take myself to some nice restaurants in the evening.

Do it...! Book now...think later!

I loooove going places on my own! I think some of us are just more independant that way.

But the good things about it are that you can do whatever you want, pursue your interests, or do nothing and no one is going to complain! If I had the money, I'd be going somewhere by myself almost every weekend.

I love hanging out with friends and my boyfriend but I love being on my own too. The only way it is stupid is if you go somewhere that a woman (or man) really shouldn't be going alone. A wild bar where someone could slip something into your drink and no one's there to look out for you, a bad neighborhood, a dark alley, etc. :)

I think a lot of people "don't get" going places alone because they don't like to be alone. They either feel insecure or lonely or they just like having company most of the time. I've always enjoyed my own company on some occasions, so I say go for it, and don't let anyone make you feel like it's weird.  Have an adventure!

No, it's definitely not stupid going on your own.  In fact, I think it'd be fun.

GO...... Have fun!!!

Do it! Some of the best fun I've had in my life was traveling all over Europe and some of Asia all by myself. Part of the advantage of going by yourself is that you're much more likely to meet interesting people than if you're part of a group of friends. (although that's fun, too!)

Go for it, like I said in another post recently: You gotta live!!!

Whether you're single or not, doing things on your own is WONDERFUL: eating out, movies, amusement parks, vacation.  Not the same thing but last winter I spent 2 nights at a hotel across the street from my work due to a blizzard.  I volunteered to stay and work OT but that way I didn't have to drive across town.  Some people brought their families (which was permitted) but I had a BLAST staying on my own.

Whatever you're planning, be safe and you'll have a great time.  If driving, let your parents or a close friend know your route.  Call someone to let them know you've safely arrived and do the same before you head home.  Bring a cell phone.  Make sure your car is adequately prepared for the trip.  Let someone know the hotel you're staying at.

Live it up!  Do everything you want to do.  Eat at nice restaurants, order room service, sleep in or get up early to take in the sites.  Relish on being on your agenda and no one else's.  Isn't that what vacation is about?

Is money or time the reason you're only going for 2 days?  There's no reason not to make it 3 or 4 if there's enough to do where you're planning on going.  Where do you live?  Do you know where you're going yet?

P.S. SO JEALOUS and would love to do this if I didn't have family commitments!

I do stuff on my own all the time.

I enjoy it -- I'm good company!  Laughing

I did this 2 years ago (at the age of 28) ... grabbed a journal and drove to another state for a weekend away by myself.  I did whatever I wanted to do, and I was on MY schedule (which really was no schedule).

I went to the beach, I sat outside at a coffee shop on the shore, I had dinner in a wine bar ... and I journaled for almost the entire time.  It was one of the best things I've ever done for myself.  :-)

I've done that.  I stayed in a cabin in a nature reserve for 3 days on my own.  It was great.  I didn't have to please anybody but myself.  I went on the nature hikes I wanted, ate where I wanted and went to bed when I felt like it.

It was a very nice break.

I'm probably repeating what everyone else is saying, but I think taking a short trip on your own is a fantastic idea.

I think your Mom is the one who might be a little insane :D  She doesn't know what she's missing!

I don't understand what's weird or insane about that at all. People do it all the time.

If you can afford it, go for it! There's nothing wrong with seizing a little independance and having an adventure... just don't do anything stupid.

Ooops... old thread! I hope the OP had a great mini-vacation.
