Early morny all!  Barely 4am here and staying up to catch up on work backlog. Strange how Im awake when Id normally be sleeping, I find myself hungry.  Apparently Im hungry in my sleep.

Hoping to slide to normal breakfast time and stay on schedule but may end up with earlier eating times.  Sure an extra snack wont break me.
Morning ladies!
151 this morning! 1 Pound away from my pre-vacation weight! Hope your Fridays are awesome!!!!!
XOXOXO
Carie

hey hi all...

congrats to everyone for the loss.... aadi is back... rohit's temp is increasing... doc says it might be typhiod... :(... i'm totally exhausted between the 2 and looking after the showroom.... and to top it all, i got a msg from a local architecture college (i had applied there abt 3 mnths back) that lectures begin coming monday!!!! 3 hrs a day, 4 days a week!!! how am i going to manage all this????

but 1 thing for sure... ever since i started on this diet, my stamina has increased... and i dont feel drowsy during day-time.... i cannot imagine myself a lecturer though... ;) i was a thorough back bencher throughout my school and college days... it was fun.... and i know this is going to be fun too...

My gosh Shruti - thats horrible about your husband.   What a great twist of timing that you started prior to this so you can be that much stronger and supportive to him.  I know you'll keep aadi safe but I hope with you have family support, especially with lectures starting.   I thought you were saying you would be attending and I bet feeling better about yourself will make it more comfortable getting in front of a crowd.

Congrats carie for nipping that in the bud and dropping it so well.  You know exactly how to kick but on Phase 1!

Sarahs got hubby time but hoping to hear how our other beachers are doing.

A funny thing - I froze one of those SF chocolate puddings.  Although I dont prefer the texture of it frozen like some do, eating as it defrosted kept me from gobbling it quickly LOL!  With morning energy, made a batch of that strawberry buttermilk froz stuff Sarah loves and hope to have it ready by tonight.

And no I couldnt make it from 330 to 7am without eating - I was hungry quick.  Ate a servings of nuts to hold me to normal breakfast time so today should be normal food day.  Happy Happy Friday!

Hello Everyone,

Quick question, has anyone had their cholesterol checked since they have been on this diet?  Just wondered with all the eggs that are in Phase 1, plus still over 1 week to get to Phase 2, and longing for some fruit.    Today I only cooked 1 whole egg and added the white only from another, just in case.

Hope you have a good weekend,

Mary

My Cholesteral is 149! And My good is just right and my bad is OFF THE CHARTS low! My trigliceryds are also off the charts low! I was very happy! Just had it done last week for work!
Dont know my cholesteral and usually eat 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast.  Had normal level prior to the diet though. Quiet day and holiday for sure.  Hope we have luck staying on track with SB this weekend.  No risk here - no plans really for the 3day holiday.
I am near VERY happy tears! I will feel better if the downward trend continues or I can atleast hold this for a bit.....but.....I am 149.5 this morning!
Hope you are all REALLY great this morning! I would hate to be the only one floating on this cloud!
Today is day three of my "starting over on phase one" period!
We are ordering "Jimmy Johns" subs for lunch and they will put any of thier sandwiches in huge iceburg lettuce leaves instead of bread! It is sooooo yummy!
Well I will check in later! Have a great one friends!
Laughing  Congratulations on your weight loss--keep it going that's wonderful.  Mary
Good golly miss Carie - thats a jump!  Well hasnt that scale had fun giving you are hard time when look how great your doing.  I easily can live vicariously through others which is a fun thing about having some of us on phase 1 so make room on that cloud.

Great idea on your sub.  I was always anti-salad.  Too fattening because I liked lots of dressing, not filling, overrated.  Then on the run I discovered a KFC salad with nofat dressing that was enough and how the chicken made it stick with you.  Now gotta have bags of salad in the fridge.

Want to find out how you guys are making smiley faces !! All I get is this :D .   Hoping the beach is treating you well Mary!

Hi Sun123,

Don't go to the beach just now its too hot - 47 deg and humid.  We hid inside or go to one of our 3 malls in little old Abu Dhabi.

To get a smiley face I think you need to be in HTML format when you write your e-mails, whatever program you are using I use Outlook Express--method for this is go into Tools top left hand side of screen, press options, then press the send tag in this box you will find either HTML or plain text, you must be sending in plain text so click on HTML then you should get the smiley face when you send a reply on this forum, you will have to click on this, then you can choose the face you want-don't want any sad ones-OK.

If I am wrong maybe someone else can give you advice.

Bye

Mary

You have to be on CC plus to get smileys!
Im with you on that Mary.  I start hibernating inside late spring.  By the way, by 'beach' I meant being on South Beach.  You'll see the term used around her but its reference to the diet.  Just hoping Phase 1 is what you expected.

You know I did do the CC+ but I cant adjust to the spread out format.  I like a lot more messages to view per page without all the scrolling.  I hope they dont abandon the old format entirely.

Sarah's Strawberry buttermilk thingie was so easy.  Im reposting: Blender 3 c strawberry, 1 c buttermilk.  Disolve 1 c water, 1 c Splenda and add to blender.  Freeze.  I split into 4ths for 4 serving.  I felt guilty eating it but its in the cookbook as well.  Big servings that taste like sherbert!  So sweet I felt guilty eating it.  Walmart brand has a 3cup bag frozen strawberries I used.
Great postings everyone! I have change my lifestyle to make south beach the way that I eat permanently. I lost 15 lbs. lsat summer and kept it off until I lost control during the holidays. This Aug. I realized I needed to make the commitment to eating healthfully for life. I have lost 7 lbs. in 3 weeks and I am not hungry nor do I crave anything. I love the way I feel. I also exercise on a regular basis and look forward to continuing this lifestyle. I had my cholesterol checked last year and was done several points. I just had it checked again so I will psot the results when they arrive in the mail. I am very hopeful that it wil be even more improved. I tried the lemon chicken couscous in the book recipe section for phase 2; it was great! My sons loved it. I didn't ahve broccoli on hand so I shredded zuchini which is very plentiful right now. It worked great with the recipe. I don't care for the ricotta deserts in phse 1 and I didn't care for the surprise mashed potatoes using cauliflower, but ovber all, the recpires are great. I also picked up the cookbook and have tried many of the recipes. I also just adapt my everyday foods, too. It has become so easy. I am really hopeful to drop the next 20 lbs. slowly and permanently. This holiday season I won't fall off the wagon.
Oops~! I should've read over my posting, lots of typos! Sorry! Spent the day at the state fair and I am just a little tired!
Welcome spookums! Would you like us to use your real name, or "spookums"?
I am up .5 of a pound today....150! Sad, cuz 140anything looked so great on the scale for the first time in years! But, no worries! I ate a ton of sodium yesterday! I will get that awesome number back again soon!
Spook, I LOVE the "Surprise" cauliflower mash! It has saved me from going nuts for lack of potatos countless times! When I serve it with meat and a veggie I feel like I have a complete meal! I feel like I am not "missing" anything!
I also LOVE sugar free Jello!
Heres one for everyone......What is your favorite SB friendly recipe, that without it, you could not survive this plan?!?!?
XOXOXO
Carie
Hi spookums - hope you stick around!  We're a small and supportive group you'll find.  Congrats on that 7 lb loss.  I imagine your healthy changes have impacted your cholesterol but am not familiar with that really works.  Just the sound of Lemon chicken sounds great - Im a fan of lemon pepper myself.

Im with you Carrie on loving the cauliflower mash and would like to eat it as a meal its so filling.  Your in the majority on ricotta dessert (Im the exception).  Ive got holiday fears too.  Have always broken diets on holiday and never seem to get on the new year resolution boat.  Usually its a procrastination problem that just a day or weekend that turns into abandoment of the idea.  If your looking for support, you'll find it here.

Favorite SB recipe?  Yikes, I dont cook and am a repetitive eaters without much variety.  I love the idea though Carrie!  Im a BIG believer in tested recipes since I barely use them, dont want to waste my efforts.  Here goes and yes Ive mentioned it here previously by Ive almost nothing to pick from :C.

* BEANIE SHRIMP *

  • 25 small peeled shrimp, chilled
  • 1/2 C black beans cooked
  • 1/4 T chopped onion
  • cilantro chopped to taste
  • lime (juice only) to taste
Mix and eat. This could be great in a lowcarb wrap too.  I use canned beans room temp with the liquid.  If your not as onion crazy as me, you can decrease it.  This is Ive to a recipe I use regularly.

* SUN'S MASHED CAULIFLOWER *

  • Blender boiled cauliflower
  • Spread on plate
  • Spray with CantBelieve butter
  • Sprinkle with ground pepper, salt and garlic
  • Microwave and stir to combine ingredients
I love it but made it up and am open to other's versions.  It sure is a fight getting it the blender to mash it.  Very bottom mashes but top sits so must continuely stir.  Probably due to thickness but like it thick - small price.
Funny story last night.  Took Kiki and friend to a movie.  Rated R but just for gore so unlike me, I agreed to pay for tickets.  She was eating a big cup of rice pudding a weakness but wouldnt finish it.  There I am driving away thinking I dont really cheat, not because Im perfect but from fear of abandoning the diet. I also was thinking its just some rice pudding and 1/4 cup will really hurt me?

So I decide to succumb, but only the rice pudding and nothing else.  Just before I actually eat it, I get a call.  Kiki.  They wouldnt let her in, refunded her money and I havent left the parking lot.  I thought of you Carie and the ants.  It would have been embaressing to have stressed her to eat it and find out I couldnt leave it sitting there 5 minutes eventhough its sat in the fridge all week.

BTW I did call Kozyshack about locating someone local carrying their sugarfree products tapioca and rice pudding since Walmart only has the apple pie alamode (and they have a cherry jubliee one!!)
I'm confused....you thought of me and what ants?

I cheated today!
Heres the list!
Great all morning and afternoon!
6pm-1 white choc macadamia cookie (fairly small at leat)
7pm-1 whopper jr. easy on the mayo, couple of fries
8pm-Raised donut while grocery shopping!
It's only one day and I wont get down about it!
Big fight with hubby last night, spilled over into today and I am an emotional eater!
I still probably came in at 1700 or so cals. But SB friendly....my day WAS NOT!
hi guys. this is my 3rd attempt at dieting. my 2nd attempt was a disaster. i started at 137 with the goal of getting to 120. i got down to 132 and after a long speed bump, i ended up at 139.

now ive decided to start my diet again. however, i dont know what to do. my 1st and 2nd attempt was just eating less and exercising more, but for some reason, they ended in weeks of binging that put me heavier than when i started.

what is so special about the south beach diet? should i try it? there are so many programs out there. is it another fad diet? any input would be greatly appreciated.
