Careful with that! That's how I fell off the regiment.
This wagon comes round daily Kelly, and we'll always help you back on :D. Glad that you stuck to your plan Sarah - thats great. Ive always thought if we got off work at 3pm and played outside til dinner, we wouldnt need diets. That was back when there wasnt cable and the internet outside, so there was nothing better to do but go play.
Thank you, Sun! I'll do great, I already know it and since my boss suddenly looked so good ... and I have been doing other things - I was re-motivated to go this route once again. LOL on phase II. I never say it, going from Phase I to eating anything.
If anyone wants a fabulous smoothie recipe:
1 cup frozen blueberries, blackberries and raspberries (berries better than any other fruit - as you know due to the low sugar content in berries).
1 scoop jay Robb's egg white protein powder.
about 1/4 cup water or less - depends on how well your blender works, and how loose or tight you like your smoothies.
That's it. Good for breakfast, part of a breakfast, or a snack.
I read someone wrote that they hated the ricotta cheese desserts. H E L L O, NO! I learned to love them. I add 1 capful of almond extract, 1 pkt of sweet 'n low and cinnamon. Amazing - just.
As you can see, I am no stranger to this diet.
Caveat: I really enjoyed reading and learning from Dr. Angstron (sp?) I had a lot of respect for him and in some ways the book and the diet really opened my eyes - this CLEAN low carb diet and with medical thought version of the Atkins principles.
BUT! He really sold out with all those frozen meals and snacks on the shelves with his name on them. Imagine! Him a heart doctor peddling foods with more than 1500 to 2500mg sodium - per, frozen or packaged shelf meals.
oy
jellie Im not big on egg white powder but I suppose that it gives the smoothie some frothy whipped texture. Im a big fan of the strawberry butter milk Ice I use fatfree buttermilk to make it low fat. Ive still got that extra 2 lbs on my scale and I just want it to go away so I can start losing again. Carie I know your having this same problem what are you doing to try to fix it. Sorry I had to vent a little but Its just so darned frustrating. Im going to be bald by the time I lose all this weight from the stress. AHHHHH!!!!
Currently eating a pack of fresh sliced mushrooms and still dont know why I love them so. Simple but great and practically negative calories.
Good morning all!
SUN! Sleeping with the devil: Kraft foods. - Good one. I don't have too many issues with the whole thing, I was just surprised. But I do hate the notion from many - many who posted on another calorie site - that they felt great about meeting their calorie allowances and had a healthy snack or meal, "I had a South Beach Diet" bar, or .."SBD meal, yum'. Then they would come back to the forums and complain that they were not losing weight. I pointed out to them that they probably were losing weight and that the scale was lying to them - the scale was measuring all the water retention from all the sodium - ALL THE SODIUM!
I learned all about the effects of sodium - not so much salting for taste, but deeper on the preservatives side. I looked at that logically and said to self, I bet if you didn't eat any processed foods, your sodium level - which was over 4000 a day, would drop and you might see some difference on the scale. I got this idea from Dr. Angstrom.
One week later, after lowering my sodium intake by cutting out processed foods, I lost 8-lbs (they lost just covered up by sodium swelling - lol). I reduced the sodium from 4000 to 800. My blood pressure lowered significantly. These were all things that Dr. Angstrom stressed.
IT WAS ALL GOOD.
So today is day 1 and I am weighing in at a ghastly 191.5! I haven't eaten yet - but about to. I'm going to start with my berries smoothie - frozen berries - egg white power (26g protein) and a small amount of water. I'll be eliminating the usual banana - for SBD.

Berries are allowed because they have the very low sugar content. Unfortunately, I don't have the books anymore but definitely remember that even in phase I - blue, black, and raspberries were the exception. The ONLY exceptions. NO strawberries, melon or etc.
This is how I remember it - so I'm hoping it's okay. If anyone has the book - would you please look it up?
Thanks.
maybe i have the book....... i'll look, but i moved and i think i gave it away. drat!!
Hummm no word on the berries ... so I'm going to do without the berries today
. I'm chomping at the bit for breakfast and it's already almost 11:00.
Has anyone tried the grilled Canadian bacon rounds w melted low fat Swiss on top? Yum on those - Note to self ... buy Canadian bacon rounds ...
me thinks i should go to the library and check out this book. I bet it's been updated since 2004?? Ya think ?
Thanks, ladies. I did two things today!
1. I did without the berries smoothie - just in case
2. went to the local library and checked out the book. I have it to the 8th.
right now - first meal of the day - 2:00 pm - 3oz cubed chicken breast which was grilled yesterday - no marinade. Eating the cubes and put cut up a slice of Jarlsberg lite Swiss - squeezed lime over it.
Delicious!
Once I finish lunch, I'll do a cursory read over phase I legal foods - and then off to the store.
Safe to say we all have found our own way to follow SB, whether its to the T or with personal modification. I personally dont have issues or reactions to salt but my sisterinlaw is seriously affected by it with weightloss. Not that I completely disregard it - I used to salt my string cheese strips but quit and it works for me. Know I get salt in the dinners but its natural that we set our own parameters.
Getting that book will be handeeee! Finished up my breakfast wraps. Going to force myself to venture out of my daily food, see what else to consider.
