Anyone doing or have already done this program? I am on day 4 of phase 1 and very pleased with the results!
Hey Sun Have you tried the flourless chocolate cake W/ Almonds I know its a Phase 3 dessert but I ve made it for My moms Bday since shes a diebetic. Very Very Decadent...one slice is is only 150 cals and has 9Grams of protein...Very filling. REcipe in the south beach diet cook book should have told you this earlier, didnt know it was your Bday..... Happy Birthday!!!!!!
Thanks and I appreciate that. It looks intense! I was surprised to see how many phase II desserts they are too. Not that SF fudgesicles arent heaven to me (diet or no diet) but interesting options and I remember recommendation on this thread of the strawberry buttermilk ice.

Thanks for the advise. Just started the SBD today and wasnt very prepared so had half a pot of Plain 2% Fat cottage Cheese for Breakfast this morning. Not the tastiest breakfast I've ever had but it has certainly kept me full until 11am.....well that and the water that I've been drinking!!

Well, I am on day 8 today! Still holding on at 152 and my 5 pound loss for week 1! I feel so amazing! I am headed out for a 2 mile walk then breakfast with a friend! Eggbeater veggie omelet! YUM!

Great Job guys!!!! Carie I havent made it to 2 miles yet Im stuck on a mile and and a half on my tread mill.... I do walk up hill the whole time.... makes me burn a little more. Im thinking about some weight training but dont have any weights. This may sound silly but do you think 1/2 gallon milk jugs filled w/ water would work for the time being. Im on a tight budget right now. sounds crazy huh!!!!...Entersandlady I to have the spare tire also that nasty back fat. Ive already lost 4 inches on my waist. Was 42 now Im 38. Want to be 29 but that might be pushing it. Phase two will let you have back some chocolate. Keep thinking... it s only for two weeks..

Ill have to addmit to a mini binge last night went over board on my dried fruit. Didnt seem to affect my weight loss. Made me feel guilty though. Almost didnt want to tell anyone. But I feel lots better now. Dont judge me to harshly lol!!!!!
Dried fruit is delicious, and think how much better binging on that is than overeating other unhealthy stuff...sometimes we deserve a little treat!
Day 1 down, it went really well, I actually felt like I was eating real food and not feeling guilty about it-what a good feeling! My parents both did great too, we're working hard to keep things interesting for my dad-we're Italian so for him 2 weeks without pasta is unthinkable, but tonight I think we're going to make Spaghetti squash parmesan so he at least gets a little bit of a fix.
I also have a question-does anyone know about that low sugar, low cal ice cream substitute that they sell at ice cream parlors? Here it's called Wow Cow, but I know it has different names in other places. I always get it when I go for ice cream with my bf, and I'm wondering if it's ok in Phase 1, because it's no sugar and basically just a powder mixed with water. I'm going to try to look it up but I just wanted to see if anyone knew the answer.

Ive never heard of it Sorry, I do know you can have no sugar added fudge pops in phase one. BTW that squash is great I was able to twirl it around my fork just like noodles.... its all in my head...Keep up the awsome job WOOHOO!!!!

I actually JUST made a new post about me thinking about giving up carbs.. so this looks really interesting to me. I'm going to go buy the SB book and cookbook on my lunch break.
my question is this, If you gain weight back after going to pase 2 why not stay at phase 1? or is that totally undoable? My huge problem is carbs and So i am really interested in this as it seems like something that could ween me off the pasta lol .

Welcome aboard jenn. Dont get me wrong I still love carbs but the point of South beach is to eat the right carbs. I had to get off the processed carbs like white flour and pasta. Phase one helps control your blood sugar. The reason you cant stay on phase one all the time is there is no fruit or bread allowed. That stuff is still good for you. Helps with digestion and also good nutrients. Im on phase 2 and still losing like crazy. NOt as much as phase one but at 2-3 lbs a week. Im also counting cals as it helps me track my good carbs and I figured out what triggers my bingeing in carbs. my trigger is carbs in the morning(just cant do it). I miss pasta but a smaller waistline is worth it. Sweets are also my weakness. Dont really need them But still want them.
thanks! Yeah that makes sence, you cant cut bread out forever. I like the idea of tracking your calories as well too.

I am really starting to freak out about the fact that my family camping trip starts on day 14 of Phase 1 for me! Boy will that be the test of my ability to handle Phase 2! There is a bakery that makes AMAZING apple turnovers within walking distance of our campground!!!!! SCARY!!!!

Hey carie, I dont know how high tech you guys camp but a lot of the recipes can be wrapped up in tin foil and put on the grill or the fire to cook. Heres and Idea... instead of smores, bake a fruit of some kind stuffed with a few choc chips in tin foil. Sounds yummy too me!!! dont panic youll be fine
I think a few choc chips are allowed in phase 2 as long as its sparingly..correct me if Im wrong..
im not sure what phase they are allowed in but i have bought the south beach oatmeal chip cookies just because they are super low cal and they were on sale....oh my goodness they were soo yummy. maybe bring some of them so you can eat something sweet too.
When im around super yummy but fatning food i think of it like this....maybe i will be missing out right now but in an hour i wont care that i didnt eat that brownie so just try to make it past the moment and then your good.

Thanks for the advice girls! I am of the belief that fruit and chocolate together is just wrong. :) But you give me a GREAT idea Sarah! I love apples baked with cinnamon! I would bet that would be yummy in foil on the grill!
Hey SBer's! Any more good Phase 2 camping recipes?!?!?! Bring them on! I will of course be bringing tons of SF Jello and SF fudge bars! What about whole wheat pancakes of some sort with SF syrup?
