Hey Rachel  I think the only reason Ive been abble to do this right now is the fact that its just me and the kids I dont really have to cook that much and the kids eat breakfast and lunch at school so thats a lot less temptation around.  My real test is going to be christmas day with my hubbys family all the yummy things I love mainly all the diffrent kinds of casseroles from vege to desserts.  Im making my own special pumpkin pie this year so it will be lower in cals and higher in fiber(thanks to hungrygirl .com) not going to do a cheese cake again it wasnt that great

Jayne your doing great at the whole going out to eat thing..... Broccoli the power food isnt it great
DISCLAIMER****

I have this habit of starting a post here and before finishing I leave it open and go onto others sites only to enter my post later without seeing other messages that have posted in the meantime to respond to so like not seeing your above post Sarah and great on the 160!  Hoping to do as well Thursday but good going and passing same luck on to you Rachael for your big day tomorrow!

Time for my wraps to get nervous - morningstar black bean burger is as awesome as Id hope.  Im shocked by the difference though in the two black bean burgers I had.
LINK Chili's 650 cal, 96g carbs (whoa -Im assuming the bun?)
LINK Morningstar 140 cal, 15g carbs
The difference is startling to me but I LOVE that at 140, low cal and low fat I could have it as a snack!  Im in love this diet 0 no somebody tell me - theres got to be some bad news.

Morning ladies - Got this from a friend today- thought I would share the laughs

Eating Tips for the Holidays

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can and quickly. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an "eggnog-aholic" or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it!!!! Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It’s Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand-alone.  Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they’re made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello???

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple, pumpkin and sweet potato - have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like apple, have two sweet potatoes and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the
mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven’t been paying attention. Reread tips: Start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.

Remember this motto to live by: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body; but to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO what a ride!"

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

irlmonet:  really funny!  thanks

I'm on a wireless connection, which doesn't seem to want to stay connected today, so making this fast.

It's my birthday!  happy about that, but sad about the number it is :(     oh well better than the alternative.

Started the day with eggnog and a nip of bourbon just before lunch.  Can't decide if I should blow everything and be good today, or go all all so will look for a happy medium.  Was told to eat light today cause of the birthday dinner tonight.

Got most of presents early cause this family can't wait to give them.  So was given a Christmas present so I'd have somehting to open  :)

Its only 45 and cloudy, so don't feel like hiking and also have a lot of things here to do, so no time to sit with my feet up as i was ordered to do this morning!

I did wish for a present of weight being down today and it was, 3#.   That leaves me up only 7# for tthe holidays, which is within my holiday limit.
Happy Birthday OHIO!!!Laughing
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO YOU!!!!!!!  AHHH the temptations of the holidays.  A happy medium is always a good thing.... a bite of the good stuff here and that is not a bad thing in my opinion.  so drink up and celebrate you will be back on track in no time.

My mom is coming over to (BAKE) and do the traditional decorating the sugar cookies with the kids.  Im being super good today just so I can squirt that icing in my mouth from the tube which is also a tradition LOL.( thank goodness no one else but family eats these cookies)

Angie that was hilarious..  MAde my day... Ill have to show my mom when she comes over.  Happy Beaching!!!
HAPPY B-DAY!!   Hope its a great one there Rachael! I know I had birthday plans but ended up winging it based on my mood - it is your birthday after all.  Thats great about the 3 lb gift too.

For the record Angie, they got #6 rule from me.  Pies....  What was I saying? Oh yeah, the holidays - yikes!  Funny about the icing Sarah - Im a whipped cream to the mouth gal myself :P

Sis just left and we had a great trip. One sis, two brothers and Im the only one that talks to everyone LOL.  Youngest child - pleaser and mediator.  She left something though so Im off to meet her with it.

Happy Birthday, Ohio!

We have to make a brief appearance at my sister in law's "Holiday Party" on Saturday night ... so my plan is to just eat dinner before I go and stay the heck away from the food.  My wonderful DH said we don't have to stay long since we won't know anyone there ... whew! (I don't like crowds and I don't like parties... I am just a happy little homebody!)

It's been raining here for three days ... and everything just looks grey and soggy. And (since I'm retaining water), I feel pretty water-logged, too.  I was on the treadmill a while ago for 15 minutes, and was thinking about going back for more this afternoon.  (More treadmill = more food, after all!)

=^..^= MOLLY

Okay I have to give a big thumbs up to the south beach lunch wrap kits  Ive eaten two of them today and Im not hungry at all.  I think my stomach has shrunk but thinking it also has to do with the punch of fiber they contain Im already at 35 grams today the wrap is so soft but a little chewy at the same time and tastes good.  Not enough veges for my day but a very good quick lunch  Thanks to Jayne for inspiring me to buy them..  HEEHEE now for the cookies LOL!!!! my treat for the night!!!
Now you got ME curious Sarah.  The thing I love about the breakfast wraps is when you microwave it, the tortilla becomes this kind of soft stretchy texture (except the ends) due to the fillings moisture, kind of like an eggroll (not crispy spring roll) wrapper.  Hadnt had that from a wrap before.

Molly - that is so me.  Im okay with a small handful of individuals but Ive always avoided gatherings like that.  On the occasional invite, I always ask how many (there friends and know this about me already). Dinner before the party has always helped me - I usually wait to eat til Im walking out the door.

During my sisters stay, I had plenty of high cal situations but was always fine.  Last night, I got this crazy craving for cereal she'd bought.  So weird because I hadnt the two days prior after she got it.  It was scary because it was so binge like because it was so strong.  I used the weigh in tomorrow plus meeting with old coworkers who havent seen me since March but it was making me loco.  Finally, I just decided to have a bowl - my first cereal since starting SB in June, knowing unfortunately it was a higher cal one (Grapenut almond raisen).  My biggest fear was the old returning for additional refills in the cereal bowl or just a plain old binge.  It was late and didnt eat any more.  Im just being extra careful know planning to eat on schedule because I dont want to 'start something' with that last night.  NYears goal still waiting on me 365, after I was stuck (unfairly :P) at 372 last week.
birthday dinner was appetizer of crab & shrimp balls, crabcakes, which I love and snow crab legs, candy cane margarita, but that didn't taste much like candy cane, just had a pc of candy in it, and we split a pc of cake.  Weight was only up 2# so I was happy, considering how mine flucuates so much.

seems I'm bouncing around 181-183, so will try harder to get back to bouncing in the 170's.  Today have to bake and will resist popping nuts or anything into my mouth while baking.  May have to try a pc of the baklava, but will look at calories first, don't want nasty surprise and not sure about the butter and phylo dough, etc.  Its for christmas luncheon, so hoping theres none left at home.  No time to exercise today.  I'm invited to her office party at noon tomorrow, and may take hiking clothes and try to get in a couple of hrs after the lunch.

Do I really have to try everyones food, at the luncheon, to be polite?

I've been lucky that I could eat some sweets/starches and not get cravings, so far, but don't want to push my luck.
Beware the cereal..I can not ,absolutley can not have cereal fir breakfast anymore..I can handle oatmeal but not the flakey goodnes with milk.  It leaves me with cravings all day long that are heck to fight so not worth it.  I think I would be okay at night as long as I go to bed.  kind of like the cookies thing last night I had one and then no more..it was a little peice of heaven I really enjoyed it even though I felt a little bad for eating it.  plus it was made special by the kids so how could I say no.  will be making more tonight so Ive got to watch it today.  Im not going to ruin this 160 thing... Im telling myself that the 150's are on there way.
Rachel its good that you had what you loved for your birthday  I was strict on my birthday and kind of regret it now that Ill have to wait a year for my special cake..  The phyllo dough is actually really low in carbs compared to other stuff there's even a recipe in the SB cookbook that calls for it  the nuts butter and honey is what gets you...But so so good ...YUMMY!  Good luck getting in your hike today wish I had your determination
If I wasnt SB, on my birthday I normally wouldve done crab / lobster as well but I did pasta.  Baklava is definitely one of those exception foods which arent many but those which its uncomman for me to have access to balanced with how much I like it. Dont know if I'd want to know calories though LOL.

So agreed on the cereal - such a trigger food so Ive purposely avoided it.  Guess I was lucky that did come late at night because I dont do breakfast carbs period after my appetite jumped after intro-ing them for breakfast.

To me theres something special about being at that border point of crossing a weight landmark like both of you (180 & 160).  Sure I hope to hit an even 100 loss at 365 but if I enter the 360s at year end Im still going to be happy.  Too close not to.

Well, I didnt feel like breakfast but made it anyway- almost in a forceful self imposed way to ward off any risk of breaking the diet.  I know one exception doesnt break a diet but it was the mindset - it wasnt just craving and then eating the cereal but the overall craving to binge that I felt, to just eat and eat late last night. I dont want to feel that again and snuck up on me so Im making sure I get every meal & snack should be of big help appetite wise.

Tomorrow Im meeting with some old coworkers from when got laid off in March.  I had gained much weight since quitting March to June but know Im actually smaller then when they last saw me - not sure how detectable it is but just nice to know Im not the same or larger and very excited to see them again.
Not sure Im ready for another night of cookie fun but I think this has been good for me.  Ive had my biggest loss in a long time this week..Im in shock and wondering if its even real and not my scale screwing up....maybe its the potential gain from tempting sweets thats keeping it down.  Resistance must burn lots of calories LOL or maybe its the blinding panic at thought of gaining EEECK!!!
Speaking of weight loss, WEIGH IN THURSDAY manana.

The food schedule has gone well today, including snacks although I did see that guilty box of cereal and we tried not to make eye contact LOL.  No trigger though and just seeing foods can be a trigger.

I got email to watch out for a box from Harry and David from my brother.  He once before sent me a collections of chocolates and treats so I email replied thanks, thinking doesnt he remember Im on a diet but he knows Kiki's here.  It arrived yesterday - oranges, apples and pears.  So funny! I havent ventured into introducing fruit back but have made exception with their arrival.  I was surprised by the nutrional guide - apple:110, pear:120, orange:80.  I always put al three around 50-75 calories.  Thinking Kiki's secretly disappointed my diet changed the delivery LOL - I can always make it up to her in her christmas stocking with chocolates.

hi all.... finally 75 kgs!!! 165 lbs... on my gym scale.... 0.5 kgs lighter than my target of 5 kg weight loss in a month!!! its 5.5.... so tomorrow i'll have banners in the gym in my name... :D...

happy holidays to you all....

Morning ladies!!

How are you all??  Well after last Friday, I've calmed down a fair bit!!  Christmas party on Saturday night went well, and everyone seemed to have a good night!!

Dieting / healthy eating etc has gone completely out the window, so I'm half thinking I'll leave it til Janurary.

Sarah & Shruti - Congrats on the weight loss!!!!

Rachel - Belated Happy Birthday!!

Angie - Loved your post about Eating tips for the holidays!!

Janye - I'm sure that the fruit was a pleasant surprise.  And although Kiki might be disappointed - it is healthier!!  And like you said - you can always put a few chocs in her stocking!!
Hey shruti - great news about your loss, good going!!  Gina - January 1st is soo close - enjoy your dieting break but dont forget about us.

Heading off to a restaurant El Fenix.  Called yesterday to because their online menu was brief with nothing healthy in site.  I called and they said they have one thing called Its A Wrap but in describing it, the only thing different was a low carb tortilla.  One meal, I wont lose my mind and I get to weigh in this morning before it LOL.  Im really going to see old coworkers so I'll work my day around the meal.

Just a christmas bonus in the mail from my friend/boss - 2 visa gift cards for $100 each.  This is my friend whom I recently contacted about how I appreciate his overwhelming generosity but how his summer purchase of a historic home changed things and I would like him using it towards the home spending facing him.  He called me in advance to say that he was including a work bonus in my Christmas card.  Ive not yet done her shopping - Ive procrastinated other holidays (not knowing what to buy) but this year, Im in serious denial.
WOW Shruti Congrats on going lower than your goal I'll bet you feel really good. Those dance lessons did a great job.  Let the banners fly!!!!

Gina maybe you should try to maintain over Christmas.  Ill have to say that's my goal now.  I just don't want to gain that's all I ask.  It never hurts to try out the maintenance waters that way we know what were up against when we make it to our goals

Jayne money in the mail is always a good thing  I'm looking forward to getting some soon.  I need new panties  I know its a weird thing but baggy clothes I can deal with..... but not baggy panties, it drives me nuts.

Weigh in time  and I'm happy to report 159.2    WOOHOO I made it to the 150's haven't been there for a long time.  Wondering if my scale is lying to me.
