South beach diet
has any tried the south beach diet. I am really instread about it. I was thinking of trying it. What is your opium on the subject?
Hey pink,
I just started the Sb with my sister's on 5/5/08. So far, it's been great for me. I feel full , no headahces or stomach aches, however, can't say the same thing for my sisters :(. I've lost about 1.6lbs and I've read you can lose up to 13lbs in phase one. I know it's probably just water weight but it's motivating to see on the scale. Plus if you go into phase 2 I've read those "water weight lbs" stay off. But I am not an expert on this at all so you should consult with a specialist on this.
This thread is very helpful if you consider or have anymore questions:

Good Luck!!!

I didn't do well on the South Beach diet. One good thing about it is it helps you to eat more whole grains and vegetables. The bad thing about it is you don't count calories and can end up eating too much of the "good food". They do offer portion sizes though. Also it costs money to join their website. You can buy the book and go from there, and there are South Beach recipes scattered online that are free. I think if you use Calorie Count in conjunction with SBD you'll probably succeed.
I lost about 5 pounds initially but ended up gaining weight in Phase 2. Maybe too much lowfat cheese and protein bars, plus I think it helped get me hooked on artificial sweeteners, which I am now off of. I wasn't counting calories so if you do it, it is probably best to log your meals. Also the first 2 weeks is hell (no breads, no starchy vegetables, no fruit). And the SBD protein bars gave me intestinal problems.
Good luck if you do decide to do it! ![]()
