Southern Homestyle Low Sodium Fried Catfish Recipe

Lower the salt, not the FLAVOR! This recipe is very low is sugar, sodium, and calories, but packed with flavor. Whenever making this for friends and family, not a bite is left! For even healthier options, these can be oven-fried to lower fat.

Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds catfish fillets
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 cup canola oil
Directions
  1. Combine milk and pepper.

  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, and paprika.

  3. Next, dip fish in milk mixture and roll in flour mixture. Pour 1/4 cup of oil or about 1/2 inch of oil in a heavy skillet.

  4. Fry fish in high fat for 4 minutes. Turn carefully and fry 4 minutes longer or until fish is brown and flakes slightly when touched with a fork.
