Soy/Almond/Rice milk?
Hello all!
I am vegan and therefore drink a lot of soy milk. However, I recently heard hormones or something in it can make you store fat in a weird way! So what do you all recommend; rice, soy or almond milk?
I use a combination of soy and almond milk. I personally find rice milk to be a little thin and bland. Mixing soy and almond milk gives me a really nice ratio of carbs-protein-fat, and is really yummy.
i like almond breeze personally :) if you're watching your calories as well they have an unsweetened version which tastes gross to me plain (it's fine like in cereal) but you can it with splenda or stevia or something.
They have banned stevia in UK
The banning of stevia in the UK is just ridiculous. Luckily I brought some back from my last trip home.![]()
I love the unsweetened almond breeze, it's tasty. The almond milk I have found here is sweetened with agave nectar. I've also made my own and used 2 soaked dates and vanilla seeds....so yummy but much higher in calories. Stupid calories!
yep..they say it has been inadequately tested (I think there is big ££££ or $$$$$ interests here!!) I would really love to try it!!
there is another post on this here:
I just tried Soy Milk over the weekend and I love it!! I wish I had discovered it sooner!! Go Soy Milk Go Soy Milk Go!
I use a bit of soy milk here and there, but I favor unsweetened Almond Breeze or Almond Dream by far and always use it in coffee [which I don't drink much of these days] and in cooking, over cereal, or sometimes a little glass by itself. It's also worth noting that unsweetened almond milk contains 30-40 calories per 8 ounce serving, depending on the brand, compared to 80-100+ calories per serving of soy milk. You should also be able to find oat, hazelnut, and hemp milk at your local health food store! They are all tasty, so get experimental and see which you like best.
I rarely have soy milk anymore, I usually have almond milk or rice milk. I like almond milk for the low calories and taste, but I like rice milk because it can be organic.
Has anyone seen an organic almond milk brand?
I second the Almond breeze posts, but there are other yummy "milks" to try, like hemp, hazelnut, or oat. Hemp milk is my personal favorite out of them all ^^
