OK I am living on the edge and I picked up a carton of Soy Dream Milk today.   I thought I would try it on cereal in the morning.

I have NEVER had soymilk.   So I am curious - how many of you drink soy milk?  What did you think it tasted like the first time you tried it?

I like it, but I don't drink milk of any kind. I eat milk products though.
I have never drank the soy milk except in coffee a few times.. and I did not mind it.  but I LOVE soy ice cream.
*Thinks about soy ice cream*

I tried the soymilk this morning in my cereal.  Wasn't bad at all.  I am going to try and work it in off and on.
I tried it once and it is an acquired taste..one of which my taste buds didnt acquire. Im not a big fan of cow's milk either. I can do without dairy all together.
deelite - I hope someday I will feel the way you do about dairy but right now I LOVE CHEESE, cottage cheese, etc.

Trying to get accustom to low-fat varieties.  It is tuff.

The soy milk wasn't bad to me.  I want to try the vanilla.
I use it on my cereal - sometimes have a glass of it with a P&J on sprouted grain bread.  It can taste like chalk until you get use to it.  Vanilla has a lot of sugar in it, so does Plain, unless you search out the unsweetened kind.  Costco is carrying organic plain (sweetened) now in a case.  Silk is probably the most palatable brand, its in the section with the milk in a regular looking milk carton.  I use it to make smoothies with bananas and frozen blueberries and just add some vanilla - lots of fiber and protein in that drink.

I LOVE SOYMILK. I was skeptic of its flavor before I tried it, but I actually enjoy it when I tasted it, even plain, unsweetened and unflavored. I use it whenever cowmilk is called for and I don't notice the difference. I look forward to it every morning along with my two eggwhites on a toasted whole wheat muffin.
I liked it after I tried it the first time. I like Silk light vanilla, 8th continent and trader joe's brand
I agree with ali. 8th continent soy milk is awesome! it's all i put on my cereal, my only gripe is that soy milk does not mix as well with ovaltine, my fav, it just does not dissolve right. soy milk is awesome though, so good for you. my bf has a soy milk maker and he makes his own sometimes.
I've never heard of a soy milk maker... wow, I'm gonna go google that, it sounds really cool.

I started drinking soymilk about 6 mo ago when even skim milk started to upset my stomach (but I'm not lactose intolerant).  I liked it a lot, and like Silk the best.  When I use it in my coffee I like the froth from shaking it up.

I have never been a milk drinker - except for chocolate milk.  I decided to pick up a quart of Silk Chocolate Soy Milk the other day.  A coworker had told me it tasted "just like real" chocolate milk.  I hesitated before taking my first sip thinking that if I didn't like it after that first sip, I would just bring the rest of the quart in to my coworker.  It was really good!
hey bradster, i recommend the soy milk maker for sure. i can't remember the brand now, but if you google it, there are not many. it is cheap and the milk tastes really awesome. plus, you can make your own tofu and other recipes. it is really cost efficient and the process is really hassle free.

Here is how to make it.
I like Silk and Eighth Continent, all the others I really have a hard time stomaching.  I never drink soy by itself, it's either on cereal, in a shake, etc.
I'm a vegan, so I only use soymilk. For straight drinking and cereal, I'd recommend Silk Original or Vanilla (their light versions taste great too). For baking and sauces I like to use Westsoy Unsweetened or Light Original, because they're Shelf-stable so I can buy a bunch of them and keep them in my cabinet (and since they go on sale for like $1.80 all the time, so I buy a TON and keep them on my shelf). I don't like 8th continent because it's got a fake taste to it.

If you want chocolate, Silk Chocolate is the best, it's rich and so good (I had to stop buying it because I'd have trouble not drinking the entire thing in one day :). Westsoy unsweetened is really good too. It tastes more like nesquick, but still great (and has 4g fiber per cup)
Love soy milk.. plain Silk is the best.. especially with cereal
I heard somewhere or maybe I read it  - that soy milk stays fresh longer in the refrigerator than regular cows milk.

Anyone know that for sure?
So.....what are the health benefits of soy milk vs skim milk?

I was think of trying it....but need a reason to.  I love the taste of skim milk. I can see why Soy Milk would be a good choice for those with lactose problems or vegans...but what are the other benefits?
