I saw these south beach diet 100 calorie packs of dark-chocolate covered soy nuts and that intrigued me because those always look so good, but I never wanted to buy a regular sized bag for fear of downing the whole thing. I was wondering if it is a good choice considering it still has 5g of fat. I know the natural fat in peanuts, almonds etc. is a good kind.. does the same apply to soy nuts? Sorry if this is a silly question!

Thanks!

It should...to make sure though, all you have to do is look at the saturated fat content.  If it's pretty low, around 1g, then the product is a good source of good fats. =]

Soy nuts are good for you and have lots of protein.  You should try it!

I love soy nuts and they are very good for you.  Go for it!

I love the BBQ soy nuts!!

Are these in regular stores? Sounds good...

I found my BBQ soy nuts in the produce section of my superstore.
thanks guys! I found these at Super Walmart, but they weren't with the other snack bars, they were in the vitamin area with the "diet" food. Ill letcha know if they're any good!
personally i dont do soy, ive heard enough studys that implicate it with problems.

But as long as you dont only eat em, id say go for it. They are good protien and fats. alot better than sugar.

If they are 100 calorie packs with 5g of fat that means ~45calories are coming from fat...almost 50% of the snack.

Most likely that fat is from the chocolate coating and not the soynut itself. I agree with the people who said to check the TYPE of fat. 5g in and of itself is not a bad number, but where it's coming from matters. Fats from nuts are good...saturated fats from chocolate are not as good.

well acutally, dr andrew weil has even said in a few news letters than dark chocolate ( or cocao nibs) saturated fat turns into oleic fatty acids in the body, it converts to healthy fat.

also, that all saturated fat isnt bad, some are medium or short chain fats, which acutally have anti viral properties, and are also very easy to digest.

chocolate or even palm oil is rather low in steric acid ( the sat fat thats been linked to illness)

coconut oil for example has little of this, and most of it comes from lauric acid, a fat thats found in only one other spot, mothers milk.
