The same old boring but interesting Topic of "Fuel Prices"  YEP I WENT THERE!  Where I live in the good 'ol Midwest, the gas price is 3.79 and that is the cheapest.  What are the gas prices where you all are from and what can we do to make it cheaper?

EDIT: After reading the news, The TOP 5 OIL COMPANIES COMBINED NETTED 35 BILLION DOLLARS IN THE FIRST QUARTER.  The Exxon guy makes 12.5 Million in compensation.  What kind of crap is this?  Here we the little people get to suffer for their profit.

$3.89 in Murrieta California.

I understand that 1 barrel has 42 gallons of crude oil. Gee, if oil is $136 a barrel, then that's $3.23 just for crude oil The oil companies refine it, and then transport it to the gas pumps. What they aren't allowed to make a profit?? They are making a profit because they're frickin' well run businesses and have been for years. Stop whining about oil company profits and start using less gas. It's all about supply and demand.

You know you can't say that you aren't hurting by paying these ridiculous prices.  How is that these BIG GUYS you are defending can make "RECORD" Profits and you not be upset about it.  Yes this is the Land of the Home and the Brave, I participated in that Campaign.  But still, gas going up 14 cents overnight and then a few days later another 10-12 cents.  Come on.  This hurts everything.  WE ARE IN A RECESSION.  Why gouge the working class so they can make their quick bucks and live the luxurious lifestyle the average American only dreams about?  Enough is enough, but we can't just stop buying gas.

I'm in Houston and we are paying an average of about $3.74/gallon...and it hurts! However, since it is Houston and the seat of big oil, we get some benefit of these prices..

Meaning...while the rest of the economy is suffering, Houston is at a record unemployment low and home prices are holding steady. We are not feeling the 'recession' like the rest of the country. However, we are still paying more for gas and food.

Edited for clarity :)

up in alaska we're paying $4.32/gallon. You lucky lower 48-ers and your less-than-$4 gas. I'm getting my license this summer, but I won't have any money to pay for gas, unfortunately. My principal commented the other night about how he filled up his tank the other day and it cost him more than his father paid for his (my principal's) first car. we're all puzzled at why gas costs so much here when the gas comes from here anyway. it's aggravating.

I lived in Alaska for a couple of years and loved it!  Anyway, yes, the oil comes from Alaska, but has to be shipped out and refined and then shipped back as fuel.  What part of the state are you in?  We lived in Glennallen.  Still miss it!Cry

I am in east Tennessee, we are paying $3.89/gallon --today. Like everyone else, it keeps going up every couple of days.

Will County IL. We are southwest of Chicago by about 25 miles as the crow flies.

It is $4.15 at the pump as of yesterday.  I'm afraid to look today.

With a 60 mile round trip to work daily, I'm going to have to look for a part time job just to pay for gas!

If I could find the same paying job locally, I'd walk or ride a bike.  I'm tired of going broke just trying to pay the bills while "they" just line their pockets and laugh.   I can't afford the gas saving vehicles - way too expensive!  What good are they when the price is too hefty for most of us?

While America is the land of opportunity, I believe that it is highly unethical to consistanly increase the price of a daily necessity only to make yourself rich. Noone should be this immoral.  It is obvious to me that the oil companys have no ethics and are simply out for themselves .  They do not care about American at all    To me, this behaviour is simply UNAMERICAN!

As for supply and demand - If people would simply obey the speed limits, it would reduce demand.  Rush Hour is not an excuse to drive over the legal limit!   However, 98% of drivers I see on a daily basis  simply cannot or will not obey the posted limits - even in 45mph posted construction zones they insist on driving 60-70-80 mph! These people are wasting gasoline at a high rate and do not seem to care that they are part of the problem.    They are also a safety hazard to those of us who obey the law.

Sorry - Going to stop now before I really start ranting - Apologies if I offended anyone - this is my point of view.

While I was at work yesterday it went from $3.89 to $3.99 :(

$3.97 when I filled up two days ago. My goal was to fill up and then leave it, and just use my bike for the rest of the summer. We shall see how that goes...

Has anyone seen "Who Killed the Electric Car?"

3.82 at 7/11 here in Orange County.

I topped off at 3.79 between Meridian, MS and Tuscaloosa, AL....$50...not even a full tank either...go accord!

My job consists of driving between 150-350 miles to an assignment and back each week and back and forth to the hotel which can be between 1 and 50 miles one way....we get reimbursed $0.505/mile for gas/wear/tear....its just not enough...if I drove an SUV it wouldnt cover even gas..much less wear and tear...

my poor SO drives a 94 blazer...
