i only bring this up because a commercial was just on tv.

i know its pretty sugarry, but has anyone done this "lose an inch in 2 weeks" - by eating just this cereal?

it seems unlikely.

anything called "the (fill in the blank) diet" is most likely BS

Oh, I think it's likely, but only because that by following the suggested "plan" there's such a restriction of calories that weight loss is bound to happen.

Whether or not it's healthy is a different thing, and I don't believe it is.  What it comes off as is another gimmick to get people to buy more Special K products.

yeah, i agree with santonacci. i think Special K is what, 160 calories in a serving including 1/2 cup skim milk? but some people just think "well it's part of the diet plan, so it must be good". of course you'll be losing weight eating that amount for breakfast and lunch with a regular dinner (unless your dinner is huge).

you don't really realize how many calories you're restricting until you try to eat normal foods for your meals instead of just cereal for lunch. i like some of the cereals & products, but i'm not on board their diet craze. though it does sound like a good method if you don't really think too deeply into it (or don't really know that much about weight loss/health).

My friend did that a couple years ago for like a week.  They just assume that you'll be eating less calories since lunch and dinner combined will be like 300!  I wouldn't do it.  Who wants to eat special K 14 times a week? It's boring, not to mention you'd be starving by dinner and probably eat way more than you normally would!

My nutritionist told me that I can replace a meal with a high fiber cereal when I don't feel like cooking.  I'm supposed to eat as much as I need to be full.  I'm not sure if this is a common suggestion, but it works for me.  It keeps me from going out to eat on my lazy days.  I wouldn't chose Special K...I usually have Fiber One or Kashi.

I tried this as well seeing that I rarelyeat breakfast anyway, but then I started special k and continued for 8 weeks and I actually gained more weight then just not eating a bowl of ceral for breakfast, I even gave it time. Its BS and Now I am back to eating my cereal bars minus the milk and lost 4 of the pounds I gained. They say that women who eat breakfast are slimmer than women who dont. I dont believe that, I think that whatever kind of milk you are using with the cereal has alot to do with weight gaining. Using soy milk works best.

You actually have to measure the portion for it to even work, which gives you about a fistful size... seriously? are you going to be satisfied with that?!? Didnt think so. not only are you cutting your calories on this diet, you are actually going to go into starvation mode if you follow the directions on the package.

What a waste and there is lack of energy after about an hour or so. If you're hypoglycemic like me, you couldnt handle that and would have to eat something anyway.

Stick with the 5-6 small healthy meals a day, thats the only way to go.

I've always loved all the Special K products, including the cereal bars and pretty much every kind of cereal. I never get sick of it, and I have had days where I eat Special K cereal for 2 meals of my day, with lots of snacks in between and a healthy dinner. But I couldn't keep this up for a long time, let alone 2 weeks. I think the cereal is great for breakfast, but real food is needed for real weight loss!!!

I have a friend that a few years ago decided to join the navy, part of her requirements was to lose weight before she left for bootcamp, along with some pretty rigourous training, she started eating raisin bran and skim milk for like two weeks inorder drop the weight fast, it worked for the short term goal, but overall not really. all of these dieting lose x amount of weight in two weeks will allow you lose weight, but once you return to normal eating it's likely that you'll gain all of it back.

Eating Special K as a quick lunch or dinner once in a while is fine, some of us are short on time.

But a diet of Special K 2 times a day will not give you everything you need. It doesn't have any fruits or veggies, it's not a great source of protein (even with milk) and it doesn't have any healthy fats. I guess it'd be alright if you're the "quick-fix yo-yo diet" type...

Nope. It doesn't work. First, Special K has lots of sugar. Second, whenever you start eating normally you'll gain everything back. Third, you cannot live only from Special K and milk, you'll end up having a big lack of nutrients.

But Special K is good if you add it to your diet in a healthy way. Like... eating 1 portion of Special K with some fruit when you have an intense craving for sweets. =)
