How much do you spend on groceries per week
I spend about $50. Now that I think about it, that's pretty damn pricey. :(
We're probably about average with the rest of you. My husband and I spend about $150/week.
But here's how we justify our food budget. If you're going to balance your budget towards anything, it should be your food so you're buying good, healthy choices. It's always cheaper and healthier than eating out, so we feel that we can justify all of our food purchases at a supermarket because this way, the food prep stays within our control. It's one place where we don't cut corners or under-budget.
150 a week for 3 people...plus more if we need diapers for the little one! Food is getting so expensive. Milk around here is about 4.50 a gallon...i'm sure its higher elsewhere, but thats a lot for my neck of the woods!
When I am at university and therefore just buying food for me, I spend about £20-£30 a week (about $40-$60). When I am at home in Germany, my husband and I spend about €80-€90 a week (about $125-$140). Food is more expensive in Britain than in Germany but the German bill is higher because I eat almost no meat when on my own. I rather get meat from a proper butcher, and there aren't as many around where I live in the UK so I opt for beans and cheese for protein instead.
for my husband, myself, and my 3 year old daughter, i usually spend about $160 every two weeks, and on the weeks in between, we spend about $25 dollars at the produce stand.
So, we spend about $370 a month, which averages out to about $92.50 a week.
i look for the yellow stickers with reduced prices on meat, and i only buy poultry which is probably the least expensive. my husband and i both eat leftovers from dinner for lunches everyday, and $20 worth of produce from the produce stand lasts us a week and a half...and that's basically all i eat for lunch and snacks, just fresh fruit and veggies.
I spend about $40. It's just me, and I'm a college student. I try not to spend any more money on food during the week, but I sometimes eat out as well.
Wow! I always wondered what other people spend. I am single, no pets, no dining out. I spend an average of $175 per week or $700 a month just for myself! I shop at Whole Foods and eat only organic. I count my supplements in with this total. I eat mostly fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Organic nuts are extremely expensive--close to $10 per pound. I make my own nut milks, so it can really cost. Last week I bought an organic watermelon about the size of a basketball for $12! Terrible, I know, but I just LOVE watermelon and couldn't resist.
I do not eat processed foods with all that added chemical junk. I do not drink anything but coffee, teas, and water. (My coffee is not organic but I buy it at Peet's so it's expensive, too.)
I figure this way of eating is helping me stay healthy and avoid the high medical bills in the future. I hope I'm right. I never get a cold or the flu. My only real health problem is allergies, for which I'm on daily prescription drugs. My worst allergy is to dust, which is unavoidable. Oh, I also have high cholesterol so I take Lovastatin. My doc says it's cholesterol I made (hereditary), not cholesterol I ate. So altering my diet has never made a difference at all. I'm 57 yo, 5' 3" tall, and weigh 160. My photo is six months old.
My mom spends $160 a week for the five of us, but 3 of us buy our own lunch stuff much of the time. Also, no one else in my house really eats healthy, so I buy some stuff for myself at times (I spend about $15 a week on my own lunch stuff and other healthy things I want for myself). My mom scours the Sunday paper for coupons, cross checks the weekly circulars and makes a detailed grocery list before going shopping.
Wow, $50 a week? Hella cheap, dude! Let's see.. for two people, I spend $10 a week on our fruits and veggies (yea, Chinatown!) and do one solid weekly trip to Trader joes for about another $75-100. then, I usually go to Safewayd 3-4 time a week for small things i need on a daily basis (more salad, somthing I've run out of, lunchmeat...) and that's usually another $20 per visit.
So, we spend $125-190 per week on groceries (but i make us both a lunch to take to work every day, so that is our entire food budget, not just what we eat at home.)
Luckily my parents buy the groceries! If theres something extra that just I want, I have to pay for it. But that's usually 10 - 15 bucks max.
I spend $80-$150 a week now that I have been really trying to buy fresh meats, organic and whole grains if at all possible. That's for me and my two girls 8 and 13.
Ick, we spend about $200 a week for 2 of us, 4 cats, a dog, and a tortoise. That's $800 a month on groceries alone - without eating out. But we are going to start shopping at Sams club to stock up on stuff like Slim Fast, water, paper towels and other consumables. That stuff should last us over a month so we don't have to buy it weekly. With the cost of gas and groceries we have to figure out some ways to start saving money. ![]()
As a single person, I spend about $150 to $175 on groceries each week. I'm another who shops a lot at Whole Foods and eats organic. But that's nothing: you should see my receipt for face, body and hair products. Oy.
i spent $20 this week. =)
75-100 per week for two people.
