Spider Bite

Quote  |  Reply
I have been off line and out of sorts for the past 2 weeks.  I was bitten by a spider and have been down for the count.  I am on anitbiotics and on the mend but I would never have thought something like that would make me so sick.  But I am back in the game now.

*shiver....gasp* I HATE spiders.....

Glad to hear you are feeling better and back in the game :)
What kind of spider? Hobo or Brown Recluse come to mind when I hear of nasty bites...   scary stuff! Glad you're on the mend!
Oooh Oneshot! When I was 11 I was bitten by a spider and ended up in the hospital for a month! Had to have surgery and was on a ridiculous amount of antibiotics forever! UGH!!  I am SO sorry to hear that you've been down and out for so long now, too!

Damn them arachnids!!

Hope you feel 100% soon....
Hope you're feeling better soon! Spiders can give a NASTY bite and leave you with some really bad symptoms for a while.

My son was bit by a spider on his forehead (right between his eyes) when he was about 4 years old.  No lie, his forehead swelled out so badly he looked like Worf off of Star Trek.  The incident scared us to death because at first we (emergency room staff and us parents)  could not figure out what had happened but, as the swelling grew, it became apparent that it was an insect bite and my son said he saw lots of spiders in the flower bed so we took an educated guess.   My son was quite sick because of this for about 1-2 weeks and we carried an emergency epi-pen with us for years until we were satisfied that he has grown out of the allergy substantially!

Am so glad you got good doctor care and are on the antibiodics!  Take care of you.
Yikes! That's pretty scary. I've had some mystery spots on myself every so often and wondered if they were spider bites -- obviously not terribly poisonous ones! I still like the little buggers though. I find them to be fascinating and they're helpful too. :) So, what kind was it? Do you know?
Eeeek!  Yuck, I hate em!  Total arachnaphobe here!  Glad you're on the mend, take care!
One of my trip to the ER is due to spider bite :( It was so bad, my leg below the knee practically balooned up 5x normal size. I had no ankle basically, just one giant swell. It was hot, burning, itchy like hell, and red. The nurse at the ER was freakin out XD So they put me on the IV for some penicilin, and 1 hour later, swelling gone, I am back to normal the next day or two.

Other bites I had was not as severe. But they still left marks; litle bumps that will reappear when my blood circulation was not  smooth (the bite usually  around my joints, like behind the knee ... uuuuh hate that!!!)

The itchyness is beyond description. That is the most painful part of  my experience. Therefore, a year or so later when I got chicken pox, it was like a breeze.. the itchyness, I mean. It was not as bad as the spider bite!
Ohh, so sorry to hear about your bite. I was bitten by a brown recluse as a teenager and almost lost the arm before they got the poisoning under control. It's really painful and scary. I"m glad you're feeling better. I like spiders, but I still don't want them around! Yep, I admit it, I put them out!!
