I am looking for others input on this one...
I really enjoy taking spin class because of the fact that it is a great cardio workout and I burn about 600 (or so) calories each time. I am looking to lean out and not build that bulky muscle on my lower body.
Do you think that spin is the way to go to lean out instead of building muscle mass? I already have some hips and a butt, but I am looking to lean it all out.
What are your thoughts?
I love spin class too! It's the best cardio workout ever. I don't think it will build muscle mass; I think it will just burn fat and tighten thighs and butt. I also have hips and a butt and don't want them any bigger :-P
Sorry, what is a "spin class"?

It's much more difficult for women to bulk up than people think.
Look at the legs of your spin instructors, what are their legs like? Mine are quite skinny. Professional cyclists are also skinny. My legs have more definition after months of spinning but it's because I've lost some fat.
Spin class is an intense, cardio workout on a stationary bike. Usually, it consists of about 50 minutes of various intensities on the bike from sprinting (peddling super fast) to uphill climbs while out of the seat. You usually burn between 500-800 calories at a time, depending on your body weight.
You are right. She has awesome, lean legs, BUT she is also six or so inches taller than me :(
I will keep up with it and hopefully I will be ready for bikini season sooner than later.
Your instructor might have nice lean legs, but that's not to say she got them just from biking. I mean, of course the spinning helps a lot, but you might want to talk to her and see if she's also doing weight lifting to get those nice lean legs. - like pepperminty said, most women find bulking up pretty difficult/impossible to do. Things like leg presses, squats, lunges are going to help get a desirable body shape.
You will build lean muscle. In my spin class my instructor is a nut for spinning and cycling and hes lean not bulky. Spining is alot of fun and really kicks a** if you have a hardcore instructor.
Why do I have yellow hands and feet?
