Splurging on books!

Let me start off by saying how cheap I am. I really really am. I love going to the local bookstore and browsing, but I'll be darned if I'll pay those prices! (Unless it's a must-have though!)

Imagine my delight today when I went past my local library and lo and behold, they were having a book sale. I felt I should do my part in helping the library get some much needed funds, so I bought 10 books.

Some of my selections were:

  • Merrick- Anne Rice
  • Shadows- John Saul
  • Vector- Robin Cook
  • Dead Time- Steven White
  • some Readers Digest condensed novels

Also purchased was The Prince And The Pauper by Mark Twain (for my 11 y/o, who is also an avid reader). I've never read any of the above listed authors, so I'm excited to get reading.

I guess I'll add them to the ever growing stack of "books to be read".

Currently on my reading list:

  • Click: What Millions of People Are Doing Online and Why It Matters -Bill Tancer
  • The Year of Living Biblically- A.J. Jacobs
  • Your first two years in youth ministry- Doug Fields

I've got others on the list, but these are the ones that are on the read now list of the list.

There is an awesome used book store that I go to on the weekends sometimes.

Before I walk in there, I give myself a spending limit -- usually $5. Sometimes $8.

Sometimes I can get one book for that, sometimes 4 or 5 books.

I like Friends of the Library sales too.

Books are what can effectively separate me from my money, if I'm not careful.
