When your spouse cooks........and he is a great cook!
Whadda ya do???
This man of mine knows how to cook!! Normally I'm the one who does the cooking and lately I've been making low cal dishes - which he doesn't complain, he loves salad and food that doesn't have a lot of fat.
But tonight........tonight, he made the biggest, juiciest pork chop schnitzel I have ever eaten.....but the darn thing was about 8 ounces!!!!
The first thing I did (before taking a bite) was to cut it in half with the idea of eating the rest tomorrow.
Well........it didn't happen........and then he made fresh green beans and mashed potatoes for side dishes!!! I had to eat it all! I just had to, I tell ya!!
Oh man, all that walking I did this morning, and in the worst kind of weather too, 98% humidity!!! 98%!! .......*Sigh*...... all in vain.
So the next time he cooks -and he will- I need to have a plan!

I would have had to eat it too! Sounds like you got your protein and veggies - You're body can probably handle it too with all the walking you've been doing (in the outdoor sauna!)
I'd just enjoy the break from cooking!!! I'm sure you derserve it!
Lorraine, I NEED a PLAN!!
How do I turn down good food and how do I do so without hurting the man's feelings. He's sensitive when it comes to cooking....he thrives on being the best. He loves to cook and he always says to me...."here, taste this!" and next thing I know I've got a plate of whatever goodness he's cooked up!
If someone has a tip ~ please pass it along!!! My hubby does all the cooking, and he's all about from scratch ~ gourmet style food! Granted it's on a shoe string budget, so it's not fully "gourmet" per se. But, he loads up the olive oil, and cream, and portions!!! I usually work extra hard to keep my calories to a bare minimum throughout the day so that I can eat a reasonable amount of what is for dinner! Otherwise, he thinks I didn't like it. I take smaller 1st portions so I can get 2nds and make him happy!!!
God bless our cooking husbands! It's the best thing I could've hoped for, but he sure doesn't do low-cal!!!
:)
We've all talked about this before --- that it seems our husbands subconciously seem to do things to keep us the way we are. Mine has finally come around and is understanding that this will not only help me - but it will help him too in the long run because I am healthier. Maybe you can communicate the Jerry McGuire theme "help me - to help you!"
I know my security gets shaken when my husband gets sick - and I think his security gets shaken when I start losing weight - but like I said, he's finally on my side with this and is doing things to support me. Communication is the key! I'm sure once he understands what this means to you - he'll become the best low-fat, low calorie cook there is!!
give it a try!
edit: Ya'll be sure to read Dawn's message too before mine. I think we responded at the same time and she was a little faster!
What type of food should not be eaten?
