Yesterday pitchers and catchers reported to spring training.  I am so excited!!!  I don't know what the Dbacks will do this year but should be fun since they have almost all young players and many coming up thru their farm leagues.

So any other baseball lovers out there?  Any Dodger Blues?  We AZ's will be watching Luis Gonzales even though he's now wearing Dodger Blue he will always be a dbacker in our hearts.  And to you Brewer fans once again you get Craig Counsel.  He and Orlando Hudson were an awesome double play team we will miss him too

Also does anyone do fantasy baseball?

Another baseball lover here.  Hope you appreciate our gift to you from the Toronto Blue Jays, namely Orlando Hudson.  Got to beat those Red Sox and Yankees both this year.  Sometimes I do fantasy baseball, but haven't looked into it yet this year.
Brewers!!! Yippy.  Hubby is soooo ecstatic that pitchers and catchers have reported.  I do a fantasy league, but am always looking out for a new one...last years group sucked.

Heres to my Beloved Cardinals, the defending World Champions!

I cant wait. Football season and Hockey hasnt given me much to cheer about here lately, but were really a baseball town for the most part here in St. Louis. My lucky parents live in florida about 5 minutes from the RedSox/Twins training facility and go see games all the time. They always take a few weeks off work to follow the Cards around florida during spring training like Greatful Dead fans. They often end up eating at the same restaraunts with the team and get to hang out w/ them a little, my little brother has an enormous autographed baseball collection from a whole bunch of teams.

Anyone else excited about the Daytona 500 tomorrow? Its like the 1st sign of the beginning of the end of winter for me.
Stanbob - yes we love O'Dog!!!   Like I said he made some awesome double plays for us last season.

And hooligan - I was happy the cards won the WS this year.  When I was growing up my grandad was a big card fan and my mom got him an autographed baseball by Bob Gibson.  I also worked with Bob Gibson's daughter when I lived in Omaha.
Boo Boo Cardinals...ok enough of that.  I just had to get it out of my system.  Hopefully the Brewers pitching stays healthy this year.  We need to get Sheets, Capuano, and Wise to stay healthy this year, Turnbow to be consistant and run support for Bush, Shouse and Cordero to keep doing what they did last year the Brew Crew just might have a winning season this year with some impressive pitchers.

Hey - Laps we did get one of your "voices of the brewers" announcer Darron Sutton is coming over to the Dbacks to announce with Mark Grace - Cub fans know Gracie well but he played with the Dbacks for many years too and turned to tv announcer when he retired.

Gracie currently holds the record for the most home runs hit into the pool at Chase Fields - one (and the first one ever hit into the pool) was while he was a cubby.
Yeah, we lost Darron Sutton, though it was well known around here that he was looking for the Dbacks gig.  Brewers are the farm team for all the majors, including announcing.  Once we get a player for a few years, get him going he heads off to another team for fame and fortune...oh well.  The new announcer is young, 31, and was on the golf channel, and has done college basketball...He'll get really good and then head off for greener pastures.

I'm also a Giants' fan.  My home team...Brewers are my adopted team now that I'm in Wisconsin (LOL Wisconsin) I can hardly believe I went from Sunny California to Wisconsin...it's cold here.  Come on baseball, it means nicer weather.

Oh we Dbackers don't like the Giants much LOL--- especially Bonds.  I guess the thing I hate  disklike the most about bonds is when he gets a homer the way he acts when he "runs" the bases.  Also his attitude when he gets called out on strikes.  I don't think he is a very good example of good sportsmanship for our youngsters.  I won't go into the steroid issue
I am a HUGE St. Louis Cardinals fan!!! I LOVE baseball!!!!! I hope to visit EVERY ballpark in America someday!!!!! Baseball ROCKS!!!!! I love when pitchers and catchers report b/c that means Opening Day is just about 6 weeks away and SUMMER is right around the corner. I live about 2 hours from St. Louis so I don't get to as many games as I would like but I try to go to one every month!!!! Thank goodness for Fox Sports!!! I would be in the dark without it!!!!

I hope everyone's team has a good season!!!! YEAH baseball!!!!
woohoo!!!  First spring training game yesterday and the Diamondback's won!!  Cy Young winner Brandon Webb pitched 2 innings.  Only one more month before the REAL fun begins.
*pokes head in shamefully*

Tampa fan here. Season ticket holder. Cautiously excited about this year. I just want to keep out of tripple digit losses. =X

I didn't go to the Tampa game yesterday. Was during work. =/
distracted - I feel your pain -- Several years ago the Diamondbacks had the worse record in MLB for the season  We had tickets to every Saturday home game and they lost them all except the last game LOL...   It was a long depressing year.

We don't go to many games now.  I do try to make it to the home opener.  We live about 100 miles from the ballpark so the expense of gas/ parking and tickets can be a struggle.
Can somebody tell me if baseball is the game where the players run around in their pyjamas with leather boxing gloves on one hand, and hit a ball with a stick when somebody throws it at them?

Everybody have fun at the ball park!  I know it's fun because people keep telling me it is.
Clarire LOL!!!  I absolutely hated baseball!!!  Then for some odd reason I started watching the world series in 2001 and got totally addicted.  Before that I thought watching baseball was like watching golf I mean how pointless and boring is it watching someone taking a walk?

My husband now jokingly says he has to turn in his "man card" because I know more about the game than him and he used to play ball LOL
Tigers fan here...yes i still watched them through all those horrible years...and last year made it worth all the pain...
I am a true Braves fan!  I love em!  I know they like to choke in the playoffs....but I'm there thru the good and the bad.  I miss the old players tho.  Like the team they had like 5 to 7 years ago.  Least they still got Chipper and Andruw~
I always Liked Chipper jones, I think he would have made a hell of a great Cardinal. =-)

Small piece of trivia for you, the Saint Louis Cardinals have more World Series Championships than any other team, except the yankees.

Ahh, theres nothing quite like the sound of your own horn tooting, is there?
beware the Blue Jays this year

Ok I had to bump up this thread from last years spring training - and look at the "predictions" --   Boy who ever woulda thunk the Rockies would make it to the WS???

I am excited to see what might happen this year -- so what are your predictions for 08??

oh and happy 10th Birthday to my AZ Diamondbacks!!!
