SPRING to WINTER CHALLENGE-OPEN-UPDATE 11/10/09

Quote  |  Reply

I find it's easiest to lose weight from Spring to Fall.  Anyone interested in trying a challenge to see how much we can lose by the end of September? We'll post our weights at least every Sunday and see how we are doing each week.  Post your starting weight...we're starting now at the beginning of April.  Sunday night I'll post the weights I have.  Please join, it should be fun and a long enough time (6 months) for us to see great results through the Spring, Summer, and Fall.  :)

Ok, here is the list so far of starting weight.   You can email me or post here your weight each Sunday/Monday and I will then each week list the weight lost and percentage lost if you would like.   I will also send this by email to you as well.  If you don't see your name or an abbreviation, email me.  Looking forward to the challenge and any inspiring ideas each week you have send my way or post .  If you don't want to post your weight, then just email me your pounds lost.  Here is the updated list and we'll start Sunday, April 12 and 13 to see if we have lost any pounds.  Enjoy.  :)

It looks like I wasn't the only one that forgot to post yesterday.  Where is everybody?

Well, I'm happy to say I'm still in the 30's - just barely, but I'll take it:

sw - 152

cw - 139.4

gw - 130

Have a great week - keep smiling!

I was waiting for someone else to post, otherwise I can find the group.

Congrats., runyourlife, for the 130's.

I've been 158 for a few days (I stopped registering the tenths, it was too discouraging, i.e. 158.8 is not as motivating as 158). Anyway, at 158 I'm no longer overweight. My BMI's less than 25. So, horray!

Hey, what happened?  Where did everyone go?

Sorry about not posting last Monday - me weight's been all over the place (making me very angry) so I decided not to weigh myself last week.  I'm up again a bit today - grrrrrr!

sw - 152

cw - 141.2

gw - 130 - seems so far away (: (

Hang in there everybody - I am.

RUNNYOURLIFE...........I AM WONDERING THE SAME THING I USE TO HEAR FROM

FRIENDS FROM HERE BUT IT SEEMS THEY HAVE DISSAPPEARED. I AM STILL HERE

I CFONTACTED HEAVEN;Y BODY, BUT HAVEN'T HEARD FROM HER  YET. I KNOW

THAT THE CHALLENGE IS STILL GOING CAUSE I TALK TO ED. BUT HE KINDA GETS

BHIND SOMETIMES. I AM DOING FINE INFACT I HAVE LOST FROM 22O DOWN TO

166. DROPPED DOWN FROM SIZE 20 TO A SIZE 16 AND I JUST WAKE UP

THINKING THIS MUST BE A DREAM BUT IT ISN'T THE SCALES DON'T LIE, DO THEY.

HOPE EVEYTHING IS OK WITH YOU.      DAC250

runyourlife & dac250,

I'm still here but like you I went up on the scales. Dieting is hardest in the fall leading up to Christmas, in my opinion, and easiest in late summer, early fall when we can get the best fruits and veggies.

I'm gonna' just try to hold the line at this weight, maybe lose 1 pound, until January when I'll get serious again.

Oh, and I don't weigh myself too often either, its discouraging. But I did lose 35 pounds since March and am on the edge of not at all overweight.

Good job on the weight loss dac250 and classy!  You should be proud.  Thanks for your support everyone.  I hate to whine but I find it hard to stay positive sometimes because I've been stuck for ~ 4 months.

The reason I'm not losing is because I usually eat my maintenance calories.  I aim to eat 1500 (CC says 1300 - can't do that) but I find myself very hungry in the evenings - especially on the days I run (~30 to 70min, 5 times/week).  I end up having cereal or toast - it's always good food, but it's enough to bring me to maintenance.  So...I'm not losing.  The scale only goes down when I can manage to let myself go to bed hungry or fill myself up with water (not a good thing at night).

Well, despite all this, I'm not giving up yet - I never do.  I'll figure out something.

runyourlife,

I'm a heckofa' choice to give advice since I'm not losing this month either....BUT, do you know about Pepperidge Farms Flats? They are like bread, you can toast them, put sugarless jam on and Smart Balance Buttery Burst spray. They're good, really, and low calorie. Better 'n Peanut Butter, 100 calories. Honey Crisp apples are better than *any* cereal.

In sum, it sounds like you need new foods, lower calorie but yummy. The carb. thing isn't working for you.

Here's another idea: have you signed on the www.hungry-girl.com daily, free email? They tell us about new products, low cal, low fat. Also, look in their "Chew the Right Thing" for archived food suggestions. I made a loooong list of good-tasting stuff so I always have good food to eat, otherwise I'd be miserable and have cravings; this is how I lost my weight.

Bacon salt---I couldn't do without. Zero calories, add to (baked) french fries, most veggies, red meats.

Hope this helps,

I'm still around as well. Just in the same boat regarding the weight loss (or lack there of). I've been losing and gaining the same 2-3 lbs for several months now.  I've also been managing to eat at my maintenance most days and I wasn't logging most days.  I think I'm finally back on track now. I've been logging faithfully since the 1st of Nov and have an average deficit now of around 500 so hopefull the weight will start to go back down and stay there!

CW: 240

I'm around and will update soon; I promise.  I had the flu so that threw me out for a few weeks.  I finally went under 200 pounds.  Wink  I will update and hope all are well.  I promise I will keep up more--we have the tough months ahead:  November and December.

All updated!  I'll send an email trying to get others to participate if they have forgotten but I think we have our core group.

Thanks again for all the support and suggestions everyone - so nice to know I'm not alone in this.

Although I'm a bit frustrated I'm not ready to give up yet.  I'm going to keep "pluggin' away" - I hope all of you do as well.  Hopefully we can all start 2010 in better health (and maybe a bit slimmer too *crosses fingers*).  Wink

Good morning all - is everyone happy it's Monday again? >: (

It was hard getting out of bed this morning - my old bones were snap, crackle, poppin', and my eyes did NOT want to open.  I wonder if my boss would believe that excuse for not coming to work - hmmm? Well, down to business...

Thanks to everyone's encouragement I chose NOT to give up and I have good news this morning.

sw - 152

cw - 138.4 (yay!)

gw - 130 (doesn't seem as far away now)

I found something that helped.  I checked my weight log and discovered that, although my weigh went up and down,  I was spending more time in the lower range.  That perked me up a bit.  I guess that's what they mean by the "trend" - duh Foot in mouth

runforyourlife,

You're getting close! Way to go. Thanks for the reminder to never give up.

I can't lose Nov./Dec., between Thanksgiving, a week at an all-inclusive resort, i.e. lots of strawberry daquiris, and Christmas. BUT, I'll pick up after Christmas.

I'm right on the edge of no longer overweight, at 24.9 BMI, lost 35 lbs..

We can do this!

Thanks again classyferret!  It's great to have your encouragement.

I just noticed there's a very quiet member of our group - not going to say his name - that's probably going to beat us all and reach his goal before the end of the year.  Good job you-know-who! Wink

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
  1. Plot your weight curve
  2. Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
  3. Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
