I have sprint for my cell phone company - and have had them continuiously for 10.5 years. I have had issues, but they have always resolved them beyond what I expected, so its all good.
Today I get an email saying my security pin has been changed... and I didn't do it.
I tried their stupid chat online... explained the issues...
then the person/bot says : give me your pin number so i can access your account
......
so eventually she accesses the account and says: I couldn't access it using your pin, would you like to change it?
.....
So I went online to my account and completely changed every security question, password, code, question I could - then called Sprint. They didn't know if it was changed online or on the phone - but there was no record of a phone call. They didn't know who called, but they would have had to verify all the stuff I had just changed. No they can't put a note on my account like another verbal password to use in addition to just name/address/etc.
i'm like... wtf? You have nothing in place if this happens to figure out why or how? nothing in place to prevent it in the future (cause their security questions suck hard, like, color of first car, mother maiden name, street you grew up on - you cant make up your own)
Any idea how someone could have done this? To change it online they would have needed my user name and password, which user name maybe someone i know personally could get, but password? All my passwords are all capitals/lowercase_-!@#$% and such. After a few tries, wouldn't it block them?
Needless to say, sprint failed me in providing any sort of explanation or assurance this wouldn't happen again. Luckily it seemed they didn't do anything to the account except change that pin code.
KDH,
I know its not the answer your looking for, but I have to highly endorse At&t when it comes to security, when I needed a new sim chip for my phone (my old one had been fried due to unkown circumstances) I was forced to call my mother so that she could give me access to the account, even though I was on the account I could not have access to something as silly as getting a sim chip without her giving them the right to allow me to get the chip. Needless to say, that was a very long and tedious day.
