1st Day of Dieting!!!
So, I started my "official" first day of my diet.
Here are my stats:
- Age: 22
- Height: 5'8''
- Current Weight: 173
- First Goal: 155
- Second Goal: 140
- Activity Level: at least 4 days a week of cardio/weights
Wel, I've been struggling with my weight for about 2 years now.
In 2006, I had just dropped out of college and my boyfriend and I broke up and had I moved 4 states away and didn't have a job or a life. I fell into a mild depression.
I don't remember caring about my weight back then. I never let it bother me(like I do constantly now). But I lost about 10lbs in 4 weeks. I was approximately 145lbs and 5'8''. I don't remember NOT eating or even really paying attention to what I ate. I was DEFINITLY not a health nut or anything like that, so I don't know how or why I lost that amount of weight in a short time. I think maybe I was just stressed out and wasn't eating as much as I should have, but really didn't notice it since I had a lot more to worry about then. I look at a picture of me from back then and I was thin... but I looked good. I looked toned... healthy.
I moved in May and when the summer came, I began going out about once or twice a week trying to meet friends. I think that's why I gained 28lbs in 3 years. Along with going out 1 one 2 days a week and drinking 7+ beers, we'd go out and get a pizza after the bars closed--- with the partying came the party atmosphere, which came the bad-for-you foods. I knew I was drinking so much simply to feel more comfortable in this obviously very uncomfortable new situation I was in. I had never needed to try to make new friends, and this was sort of difficult for me. I was 20 years old and had moved to Virginia, and seen as a "Yankee" or a "Come-Here" and really wasn't welcome from the get-go. I drank to make the experience easier for me... or so I thought it would make it easier.
In 2008, I started dating a very health conscious guy and he taught me about working out and healthy eating. I began to diet. I only ate lean protein, fruits, veggies, hard boiled eggs and low-fat dairy. Every now and then I'd cheat but not very often at all... maybe once a week. I was doing heavy cardio at least 4 times a week and lifting 5 days a week. I was committed, but I think for the wrong reasons. I wanted Anthony (the healthy conscious BF) to be proud of me and I wanted to look good for him. Sticking to this strict diet and exercise regimine helped me to lose about 10lbs in only 1 month the HEALTHY way. I was estatic!!! But I knew I couldn't do it forever... and I didn't.
Anthony and my relationship got rocky and we broke up 5 months later. I fell off the wagon and crawled back into my hole. I didn't want to do anything let alone workout and eat healthy... "Pass the very fattening chocolate cake pleeeease."
Well... now, I have the right reasons to lose the weight. For me and ONLY me. I want to feel confident again. I want to wear the clothes that I want to wear. I want to look good naked! I don't want to worry about how people are looking at me. I never want my weight to flood my mind daily anymore. I want people to look at me and ask me how I stay in such good shape and I want to be able to tell them "I work very hard to look this way."
I want to have control over my body... I don't want to feel out of control anymore.

Sure! Let's do it! :)
Good for you, that's awesome that you are getting on track. There is some great support here so stick with it and you will reach your goal...
I'm 5 8 and I weighted 175 pounds in June 2008. I'm now down to 138. You can do it too! :) I work out 3 times per week, mostly weights but some cardio too.

Wow, that really gives me hope! I thought that 140 might be too thin but hearing you say that really makes me think that I can do it!
Thank You SO much!![]()
