Happy Friday All!

Morgan...my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  Please let us know how everything works out. But great job on the weight loss!! You are moving right along and even through all the stress you are dealing with.

Lindsay...great attitude. I wish I could be so confident when I see my numbers go up a little..even though I know the reasons, it is still hard to see. But you are doing great! Keep it up!

Laina...your hubby deserves a little after that! LOL Just kidding...kind of! You are doing amazing as well.  Keep it going!

To everyone else! Another week down...great job at staying motivated and strong and using these tools we have been given! Lets hope that we have a great week to follow! Thanksgiving is on its way, but we do not need to fall off track because of it...well, to be honest I probably will on Thursday..but that does not mean the rest of the week I will not kick some BOOTAY!!

Today's Date: Friday, November 21, 2008

Last weeks Weight: 224.6

10% loss = 209.7lbs

Today's Weight: 225.8

This weeks Loss: +1.2lbs

Pounds till 1st 10% goal: 16.1lbs

Ultimate goal: 170lbs-could probably go lower, but that seems reasonable...first major goal is to pass the 200 mark!!

I started off the week very poorly, but got back on track. Still struggling with my food intake. My husband and I just make too good of food. I told him we need to start making things I do not like so I do not eat so much.. lol But I think these next couple of days are going to go very well. Hubby and I have goals for working out everyday and other mini goals to accomplish! So, it is nice to have him by my side with this.

Lindsay...I am up for the 10lb challenge by X-mas for sure!! Count me in!

Well, hope all have a great weekend!! Kristi

Plan of Action:

Foods: Heavy on low cal vegetables, whole grains, fruit, and legumes. Low or non fat dairy, limit fat to less than 150 calories of nuts, a spray of extra virgin oil over salads or cole slaw, and 1/2 teaspoon Canola oil with stir fries or cooked green beans, cabbage, or greens, and 1 or less serving of meat/fish a day.

Activity: Continue with bike and/or dog walks; add dumbbells during commercials while watching my mid-day soap; select and start a strength building-muscle toning program for beginners found on CC; spend some extra time daily either rearranging and/or cleaning house, working on hobbies, starting inside plants, or doing outside gardening chores.

Relaxation: Catch a comedy on TV, read some in an enjoyable book, stare out the window and day dream.

Not great but knew it would be difficult this week with only 1 workout.. down 3.8 since 10/23 start on CC

Morgan, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.. Know that we are all here for you.. whatever support we can offer to you we will. great job on the weight loss, know it is secondary right now to everything else going on. travel safe...

Laina, my husband is noticing a difference as well - I'm a little more "bendy" . I agree with Kristi, he needs a "treat"Wink

Lindsay, I am also up for the 10lb challenge by Christmas and making this a group..not sure how it works since i am new to the forum.  I am doing the C2k as well. Slowly but surely learning to "like" running.. how about you?

Kristi, glad you have the hubby for support, mine is finally understanding that for me to be healthy - we all have to be healthy.. teaching the 12 yr old good eating habits now to last a life time. I have changed the way I cook things these days, I too love to eat trying to make healthier choices - even got them eating sweet potatoes.. Cooking light has some really good recipes with calores and nutrition information on the web if you get a chance to look at it.

good luck to the rest of you.. Hope everyone has a great weekend. I know i have plans for Nights of Lights Saturday that include some cocktails, so I will make room in the calorie budget for them.. not giving up the whiskey just making room for it.

Happy Friday Ladies!

Morgan- my thoughts and prayers are with you as you travel. My heart and prayers go out to your cousin. May God wrap her tiny heart and soul in His Love. You are doing great with your weight loss. Hang in there.  I hope the little ones get to feeling better soon as well.

cteene- you have outlined a great plan for this week. Congrats on the weight loss and good luck in following your plan. Assessment and planning are so important for longterm success. BTW - I was born and raised in Oklahoma City but moved to the DFW area about 11 years ago. Keep up the good work!

Laina- you did exceptional this week! keep it up! I agree, give your man a little somethin' somethin'- you've got to give him credit for knowing the right thing to sayLaughing

Lindsay - great job on sticking to your plan and the positive attitude. It is very tempting to just forget the whole thing when the scale doesn't reflect your true efforts, so I am glad you are continuing in the right direction. You are right, the numbers will work themselves out - sticking to the good habits is the most important thing.

Kristi- You are doing an awesome job! Maybe you and hubby could cut your recipes in half? Won't work with everything, but will work with some things. You and hubby will do very well. It really does help to have a supportive spouse. "Progress...Not Perfection"!

Janet- Great job! There is a quote that I really like- "Small steps lead to the same destination as Giant leaps". Sometimes we go 100 mph and sometimes we go 5mph. Just consider this past week to be a slower leg of your journey.

My stats

Today's Date: Friday, November 21, 2008

Last weeks Weight: 219.6

10% loss = 199 lbs

Today's Weight: 220.8 lbs

This weeks Loss: +0.8 lbs

Pounds till 1st 10% goal: 19.9 lbs

ultimate goal is 140

I maintained a deficit this whole week and have exercised regularly. The scale doesn't reflect my efforts - but that happens sometimes.

Remember everyone - nothing in life goes perfectly. We have ups and downs in every area of our lives, so we should expect nothing different when it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Always keep in mind how far you have come since you first started! I am the smallest I have been in almost 10 years- so when I start to get bummed, I just keep that in mind. Living a healthy lifestyle is a process and takes practice. The more we practice our habits, the easier it will become (not necessarily easy altogether) . I have learned to accept the fact that I wll always have to monitor what I eat and will always have to exercise. I will always have to be aware of the peril of emotional eating. Living healthy is just one of those areas in my life that I will have to work at. Having accepted that, I can now plan accordingly and stop looking for the easy way out. I can also now better appreciate the things that do come more easily to me, such as career and educational success- things that some othes may have to struggle with. We all have our strengths and we all have our weaknesses, but I have come to find that it is how we overcome our weaknesses that builds character and inner strength.

Take Care Everyone!

U all are AMAZING-

I have decided, along with our weight loss lets start saving then meet somewhere in the middle of all our states and meet face to face! Thank you all!

We made it safe to Pittsburgh, through 4 snow storms, CRAZY! I live in Vermont and there is no snow compared to Pennsylvania.

My little cousin is okay. She will be leaving the hospital tomorrow under close supervision I hope. I invited her to come stay with me in Vermont if she wanted to, so maybe she will accept the invitation.

Sharyn, Laina, Janet, Krisiti.....and everyone I forgot FANTASTIC week. Sharyn, you are right on, sometimes the efforts of the week do not reflect on the scale- I have to say my pants are fitting a little looser and I looked in the mirror today and said "Damn i'm hot" LOVE IT.

A few more to go and a lifetime of changes for all of us.

I am up for the 10 before christmas, at least giving it a try!!

Happy Sunday Ladies!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Morgan - glad to see that you made it safely. I will continue to keep your little cousin in my prayers. BTW-Isn't it fun to see the clothes start fitting looser?

I did curcuit training for 45 minutes yesterday and did intervals on the treadmill today. My goal is to workout Sunday - Wed. of this week because I know with being out of town for the Holidays I won't be able to exercise for the remainder of the week after that.

Funny thing happened yesterday. I usually wear baggy sweats and oversized t-shirts when I workout. But yesterday I decided to wear a smaller shirt and pants that were not baggy. I was feeling bloated and didn't want to add any extra inches to my measurements. Turns out I was adding extra inches to my measurements by wearing baggy clothes! I've actually lost 15 more inches than I had originally thought. I don't know what my true stats for the month are because of that, but I'm not complainingSmile. The one thing that I do know that I did this month was lose  1 1/2 inches off of each thigh and 1% in body fat! That with only having lost 5 pounds! So I am very excited and proud of myself.

stats for June 2008 - November 2008

bust - lost 4 inches!!!!

waist - lost 7 inches!!!!

abdomen - lost 8 inches!!!

hips - lost 6.5 inches!!!!

thighs x2- lost 3 inches!!!!

arms x2 - lost 6 inches!!!!!!!

total of 33.5 inches!!!!!

weight - 32 pounds!!!! - this means that I have lost more than 1 inch for every pound I have lost!!!!!

body fat % - lost total of 4.8%

BMI - down 5.01

Just want to encourage anyone who currently isn't doing a strength training program to start one. If you want to get the most inches out of the pounds that you lose, that is the way to go!

Happy Monday Ladies,

Hope everyone is doing well and had a great weekend.  So happy for Proud2beme (Sharyn?).. Great job.. It's not just weight it is inches.. The strength training defintely works...

I got to the gym on Friday night and Saturday morning.  Sister and I moved to wk 4 for Couch25k.. Ran a total of 21 minutes.. (2 sets of 3 minutes and 3 sets of 5 minutes) such a sense of accomplishment considering 4 wks ago I could barely run 60 seconds.. Did a new ball workout tape on friday night.. didn't really like it at the time (to slow, no sweat) but yesterday and today I can feel it in the muscles..

Did pretty good on the eating for the weekend... made chili and used all fresh ingredients and low sodium tomatoes and juice.. ate the lite hot dog for chili dog (only ate 1 with low fat cheese) .. made a new kashi bar with marshmellows and dried cranberries thats only 132 calories a bar if anyone would like the recipe.. they are delicious (called them yaya bars-- everyone loved them)  Drank my whiskey but had room in calorie allowance. Enjoying this North Florida winter weather ( i feel for all of you that are in the north and snow-- I complain about 40 degree weather )

Hope everyone does good through the holidays.  remember we can do it.. have a good one

Janet

Hey Janet! What part of N Fl do you live in?  I live in Ft. Walton Beach.

Just curious, but how many calories are you guys eating?  I sometimes get confused on what I should eat...too much, too little.

I live in St Augustine.. South of Jacksonville.. Been here 13 years.. Lived in Miami for 12 years before that.  Love it here.. Definitely home.. my son was born here.  I grew up in Western KY.  Isn't Ft Walton in Panhandle? by Destin (everyone from KY goes there for Vacation- Redneck Riveria!!)

I eat between 1500 and 1700 calories a day. CC has me at 1550.  Light activiy burn is 2200.. I work out 6 days a week. Strength training 3 days/ C25k other 3 days.   Not seeing results I would like as quick as I would like.  but am trying not to get caught up in scales.. my clothes fit better and I feel better.  when i started on CC i was only eating about 1200 a day.  I give myself a cheat day on weekends, but still monitor it and try to make good choices... But if there is something i want to eat I do otherwise I feel like I am denying myself and then I will go binge at Burger King... Not going to happen.

I also wonder about burn meter. I go back and forth between sedentary and light.  sedentary burn is 1900.. I sit in front of computer at work but am busy the other hrs of the day (have to be with a 12 yr old)  I've been wondering if i should eat even more calories?? sure is hard to be healthy. What about you?

Yep, right by Destin.  It is the redneck Riviera (mostly that is Panama City, though!).  But, I love it here too.  The beaches are beautiful.  Anyway, I have the same problem.  It is really difficult to decide between sedentary and/or light active.  I currently have mine set on sedentary.  I also get confused about eating at least your BMR.  It seems like a lot to me.

Right now I am trying to eat around 1300 to 1400 per day.  A few more on some days.  I exercise 3 days a week (C25K) and weight training.  I wonder if I should be eating more.  I have been on phentermine also.  But, I quit taking it two days ago.  It really helps, but kind of scary to be on a stimulant.  Plus I was not seeing the scale move much. I seem to be stuck.

Hey Ladies

Anyone out there?

I have had a good week so far.  Gym for strength on Monday and C25k last night.. Strength tonight and plan on going for a run on Thrusday morning. My husband has to work Thanksgiving (he is a forest fire fighter and is on duty)  & my newleywed daughter is having her inlaws to her house in SC. So I plan on cooking a turkey and some healthy (somewhat) sides for us when Dan gets off work... NO casseroles.. and lowfat as I can get it pumpkin pie.. Plan to weigh in on Friday as usual..

hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving day..

Hi Janet,

Sounds like you are having a great week with exercise. With the exception of overdosing on jelly beans yesterday, I have done ok calorie wise this week. I get all of these cravings during TTOM and my cycle is kind of sporadic due to the acne medication I am on, so I always feel like I am just marking time between cycles. Monday I did circuit/strength training which I plan to do again tonight. I exercised on Sunday but took the day off yesterday. I'll probably miss Thursday, but since we are not planning to stay out of town as long as we thought, I will be able to get some exercise in on Friday and Saturday. We're going to my dad's house in Okahoma City on Thursday and returning the same day. My husband has to work on Thursday as well (call center) so we won't be able to leave until about 2pm. I'll weigh in on Friday as well, though I will be bloated I am sure. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Sharyn

Hey, guys!  Looks like you all are doing good this week.  I did c25k Monday with 30 min of weight training.  My gym closes early tonight so I went at 5am this morning (YEAH!) and did my c25k and 30 min of weights.  I am plannin on going for a jog/run arond the neighborhood for about 30 min early tomorrow morning.  Then back to my regular workout schedule on Friday.  I have done well this week with eating.  I had a work Thanksgiving luncheon yesterday and today!  I think I did good;  I at what ever i wanted, but kept the portions very small on high fat items.  I felt really satisfied too! I will do the same tomorrow, but I want some room for a few glasses of wine.  I am just getting frustrated that the numbers are not moving down much.  Maybe it is becasue I just finished my TTOM, so it may skew the numbers for a few weeks.  I know I am not overeating and I am doing 3 days a week workouts.

Just wondering if anyone is weighing in this week?  I eat over cals yesterday, but did exercise, so I broke even with what I burned and what I ate.  I went down to 225 this week again.  Today I am 227, so I know I have not ate enought to gain, so go figure.  Hope it all evens out this week and I see a good loss.

I was so happy to see the weight loss. I jogged yesterday with my son and played some basketball today... I ate what i wanted to yesterday but it was easy since I did not make any casseroles and made the pumpkin pie with fatfree evap milk and splenda/sugar blend.  used fat free milk and lo-cal butter in mashed potatoes. decided to eat what i wanted or i would feel deprived, whats the use of being healthy if we can't enjoy what we eat.. just tried to make healthier alternatives.

hope everyone has a great weekend.  keep up the good work..remember losers make excuses, winners find a way..

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I hope everyone had a Great Thanksgiving! We decided to go ahead and extend our travel, so we did not get back until yesterday evening. We had a wonderful time viisiting with family we hadn't seen in 3 years. I actually did ok over the holiday. I limited myself to eating very small portions of three of my most favorite desserts, and the plates we used had small portion sections so that helped me to control my portion sizes for the rest of the food. The other days were pretty much like normal days. I didn't drink as much water as I normally do, but I didn't drink a lot of soda either. I didn't count calories the last few days because I knew that there was no logical way to know how many calories were in what because I didn't cook it. So I focused more on portion control.

janet, laina- great job ladies! Especially considering this was a holiday week.

Isam31- hang in there! You are doing great with the exercise and eating. Just continue to tweak your plan and the results will come.

bpautel- Are you new to the group? If so welcome! Good luck with your goals!
