Any 1st time mom's trying to lose weight...

Quote  |  Reply

I am a first time mother trying to lose weight.  Before I had my daughter losing and maintaining my weight was so easy. I worked out and ate healthy.  Now, I am always tired and I have a hard time kicking the bad habits I adopted during pregnancy, like OVER EATING!  I get up every morning and run 3 miles or so with my friend, it’s the eating I need to control. My daughter is 8months old and I have been trying to lose weight since she was two months.  I have been on Calorie Count Plus (4 times), Weight Watchers and I joined LA Weight Lose with no luck.  It all comes down to getting accustom to the life changing experience and having self control. My goal is to lose a minimum 15, 20lbs by her 1st b-day in November.  Anyone want to join me.Kiss

I am in--I think this is a great idea!!  The more support the better...especially in my case (though my boy hasn't made it out quite yet so my cals will be higher for awhile)...

Yay!  Hope everyone had a good and healthy weekend!

Hello Ladies,

It looks like there are several new members but know one seems to be checking in Cry  We should have once a week check and have every talk a little bit about their weight loss journey....also talk about being a mother for the 1st time.

I will start...I started using another website for calorie counting for a few weeks.  I hated it so I am back here.  I had a few bad days in terms of calorie counting and went way over my limit of 1400.  I am ok with that since all my jeans from last year or too big and the scale agrees.

My daughter is saying "momma" and I LOVE IT! She says it when she wants me to pick her up, and she is only 9months old.  I must admit her father praticed a lot with her and she says it just like he taught her, she folds her lips to make the "mmuuu" sound.  She also has the funniest crwal I have ever seen but she moves really fast. Lastly, I have had a field day shopping for her fall cloths...I love having a little girl! Smile

im with you!!  i had my baby 18 days ago.  her name is grace and she is beautiful!  i, however dont exactly feel beautiful lol.  i gained 40 lbs while pregnant!  my weight the day i delivered was 157 lbs.  i now weigh about 140, so i still have 20 lbs to go. i had a c-section so i have to wait about 1 more month to exercise, so right now im just concentrating on eating healthy.  i have this pooch that hangs over my incision, which i have to say is very unattractive and my biggest incentive to work out, because it has to go!!   well good luck ladies!!  hopefully in no time we will all have our figures back, and fit into the MILF category lol.

Hi everyone!  Julia will be 2 weeks old tomorrow.  I gained about 40-45 pounds while pregnant; and I'm down 28-30 pounds so far today.  I have the pooch too over my incision.  I'm breastfeeding and have to be honest with myself; I'm not eating enough at all-  my appetite is so poor-  my milk supply is huge-  no trouble there!

My face; feet, ankles are back to normal-  thinner than normal; I suspect tomorrow I'll be down a little more.  My stomach looks about 2 months pregnant; I'm in non-maternity clothes.  I've been taking little Julia in the stroller for walks now;  my goal is to do this every day.  My doc say no doing nothing for two weeks-  which ends tomorrow-  so I'm going to start some lite cardio.  I'll take one step at a time.

I feel good-  I think I look good for just having a baby.  If I keep up the self-esteem I will be back to myself in no time.

I agree-  a weekly way in is key.

My first month of pregnancy I was up to 135.  That's when my doc started my initial weight gain.  I was 175 when I went into the hospital; and I weighed in at 149 this morning.  so that's not bad.  I want to lose 15 more pounds; realistically before I go back to work in 10 more weeks.

Hi Vanessa1031 and delphinium707, both you gained way less then I did during pregnancy.  I gained 63lbs.  Most of it came off after I had her, I lost 35lbs in two weeks, which put me at 174, and I was 163 by the time I went back to work.  I a now down to 158. My goal is 150 then 145.  Which puts me back into my old clothes.

CONGRATULATIONS to both of you...Ladies, I know its hard but try not to focus to much on your weight for the 1st six weeks it will come off,  I promise, enjoy those babies for now.  Soon you will be able to start working out etc.

My baby is 9months old and its seems like she changed so fast!

About my weight lose, I went on vacation and gained 3lbs that I lost which puts me back at 159 I was at 157. So my goal now is to get it back off and continue working towards my goal of 150.

Hello Ladies,

I just joined CC yesterday & I'm in the same boat. Only unlike some of you I no longer have the excuse of "I just had a baby".  My little girl is now 11 mos old and I weigh the same as I did when I was pregnant! :(  Pre pregnancy I was 130 -135 lbs, the first trimester I lost weight and was worried I wasn't eating enough. Then the cravings kicked in ~ endless amounts of bacon and desserts! So bad! By the end I was at 165 then, a month after I had the baby I was down to 150. I stopped breast feeding when she was two months old and that's when I gained again. I've heard breastfeeding takes up 500 calories per day so, for those who can I encourage you to keep it up!  I've been 160 since then. A big part of the problem is I had bad pain in both knees so I couldn't run or stair-climb.  Now, with Physical Therapy and NSAID medication the pain is much better. Time to work it off!  One of my best friends is getting married in December, I have to loose by then! My goal is 20lbs. If I don't loose it I'll be devestated, all the other bridesmaids are in great shape.  I'm desperate!

welcome jenna!  nice to have you join our forum.  If you put your mind to it; and get started now; I see no problem with you losing some weight by December.  And if it's not the full 20; don't worry.  With you getting back into cardio and gym time/home workouts at your pace; you'll start to lose inches quickly and feel great.

tt-  i'm sure you'll hit your 150 goal no problem!!

So, I gained a pound!!!  But; I weighed myslef before I pumped/BF'd and my boobs were realllly full-  not to sound gross; plus the fact that I haven't been able to go to the b-room for a few days-  I know- too much information-  but I can't think of anything that made me gain a pound overnight.  I haven't been eating enough to begin with.  Every time I sit down to eat; I hear mama I'm hungry/lonely; and end up eating with one hand and holding her with another!!!

I'm going to take her for a walk now.  It looks like it will rain in about an hour-  and the storm kept me in yesterday.  I'll be glad when August is over b/c we've been getting so many storms.

I went to my in-law's to pick up some of my clothes; since all I have are maternity clothes.  Mostly everything fit-  albeit snug; and some of the summer skirts I had last year I can't quite zipper up; but I do still have some what of a pooch in my belly-  it's not totally flat yet-  but I can tell my ab muscles are getting stronger from the sarhmann excersises I've been doing.  So; I'll have to just deal with it.  I know I can't expect my stomach to be flat as a board 2 1/2 weeks after giving birth.  But; it would be nice!!!!!!!!

I'll just keep at it!!!!

I'm bonding well with her now.  My bouts of weepiness and loneliness are starting to dissipate.  I'm very thankful for that; since I felt so guilty I wasn't ecstatic every minute of the day that she was finally here.  She's letting me sleep at night; I got 5 hours straight; then three after I fed her again; which is really great before the first month.  She cries with a purpose-  and I find I always know what she wants-  so I think I'm doing a good job with this new mommy thing.  I mean-  I have NO experience with babies whatsoever!

I'm going to weigh myself again on Wed's.  I think that will be my weekly weigh in day.  What's everyone else's?

Hi Ladies,

Can I join in the fun? :)

I just found & joined CC today- I'm glad to find this site as I was pretty much on my way to join Weight Watchers. I've spent most of the day exploring it and I **think** I like it much better than what WW offers.

Anyhoo...My daughter is 9 months old. I'm 5'5" and was 130ish right before I got pregnant and went up to 200lbs. :(

I was able to get down to 165 or so without too much effort. I'm currently 160 and my first goal is to get to 140~145 and then hopefully I'd like to get down to 125.

One thing that I find interesting/frustrating has been the lack of weight loss by cutting out fast food/prepared food/pre-packaged food.

Back in Feb/March my husband and I were in the midst of a very stressful move from IL to Montreal and I didn't watch what I was eating at all. I'm embarrassed to admit it- but for more than a month I ate fast food twice a day every day. I fully expected the weight to start to fall off once that was cut out. Not the case. I did lose 5 pounds but I was expecting at least 10!

Over the past month I have started walking 3 mi @ 4.5 mi/hr about 4 times a week. I've also started a gym routine that includes weights and the elliptical machine for 30 minutes, 3 times a week.

I'm really scared I'm just plain going to fail and I'm stuck with this body for the rest of my life. I enjoy working out & being active restricting my food is what I have an issue with. To some extent I feel like: I've given up XYZ, and I'm limited severely by MNOP and now I have to cut out things that taste good too?!?!?!?

So this has totally turned into a novel, so I'll let it be for now.

Thanks for "listening"

Rachel

Hi there ladies,

I too am on the same boat.  I had my son 10 weeks ago and I feel very fortunate and happy to have him around, but I feel horrible about my post-baby body.

I started at 148lbs. (not my ideal weight either) and by the time I gave birth I was 169 lbs.  - so I didn't gain too much weight, but now I'm having a hard time taking it off.  Ideally I want to weigh 125 lbs.  - and if this program work and I follow every rule then I should reach this weight by February of '09.

I need to exercise a lot more than I am now though.  I walk with the baby about 3 times a week, but honestly some days I'm too tired to get out.

Well I hope that everyone reaches their desired goal and I'll keep on watching. Good luck!!

Hi everyone....another new mommy and CCer!  It sounds like luna83 and I are in exactly the same boat!

My son is 12 weeks old.  I was 148lbs before pregnancy (not ideal either) and only gained up to around 170lbs.  Two to three weeks after he was born, I was back to 148lbs.  Flat.  No budging. No half pounds.  Although I'm extremely thankful that these pounds came off effortlessly, I'm equally frustrated that I'm not still losing.  It's like my body has just said "this is the least amount you will every weigh"!

I desperately need motivation!!!  My goal weight is 125lbs too.

Hi everyone!  Welcome ladies!

I went to the doc today and he told me my incision has totally healed (yay) and that I can start introducing my excersise routine back in.  But to take it slow.  Julia will be three weeks tomorrow.  I'm stuck at the 149 mark.  I've been having horrible b-room issues; so I'm thinking that may have something to do with it.  And, the need to eat chocolate!!  why does something that tastes so good have to be so bad for you??  i don't eat anything else that's bad; just a few pieces a day of dark chocolate squares.  I'll have to cut that out next week and see if there are any changes in the scale.

I take her out for walks every day except for sundays.  we stay out for at least an hour.  I can't go too fast b/c of the surgery but every day I try to pick up the pace and focus on keeping my core tight and bellybutton to spine.  I have a tiny little pouch; but I can see my obliques and the cut line down the middle of my tummy.  the doc said he could barely tell I was pregnant three weeks ago.  Which; was very nice of him to say!!!  still 32 pounds down is not bad at all.  My reasonable goal for right now is 135.  I'm wearing non-maternity clothes and I think if i up my water intake; it will help things a lot.

crystal-  i hear you with that question-  "Is this the least amoung I will ever weigh??"  I'm hoping that when I get back to the gym and up my water and out the chocolate that it starts to melt off again.  we just have to have patience!!!!

I'm going to have my weigh in tomorrow since it's Wed.  I'll let everyone know if there's been any change!

Hi everyone, I am so excited to find you! My son is 11 weeks old and I have a month left til I rejoin the working world and no pants that fit! I am 5'4 and was 135 when I got pregnant and gainned 35 lbs. Since the initial loss of 20 lbs. when I was breast feeding I have been stuck at 145.  I try to walk on nice days when his schedule and the weather agree but I have a hard time sticking to my diet when I go out to eat with friends or go to summer social gatherings. My goal is 130 or atleast to fit back into some of my work pants! -Rachel

welcome rachel!!  i too, have the pants issue.  i can get them over my hips; but not  so much the zipper all the way up.   things sure do shift after you give birth......i'm loving the summer so i can wear my non-maternity summer skirts!!

thanks tt & vanessa, you're awsome, adding you to my buddies.  my goal is really 140, meaning a loss of 20lbs. (although in a perfect world i'd be able to get back to 125 like I was right out of high school). so, I'm down about 3lbs, now & hoping to make it 5 instead of going back up. it's all about will-power right? And,  making time to exercise, which i'm still having trouble with. i think daily walks with the little one after work will be good. any suggestions for when the weather's bad or baby's not feeling well & i don't think we should go outdoors?

When I got pregnant I weighed 130 when I had my son I weighed 198.  I know how you feel.  I did get the weight off and after 2 years I have finally gotten rid of the horrible cellulite and everything else that comes with the lovely gift of life and now people are asking isnt it about time for you to have another?  Alot of it is willpower.  I know that cake and all of that tastes good believe me sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and eat almost a half a jar of peanut butter.  I would suggest to you to maybe after work get your baby in the stroller and take it for a walk if you can.  The walk will get you out of the house and away from the food and get your baby nice and tired so that it will sleep all night for you.  Then you get home wash it all up, feed it, put it to sleep and by that time its your time to relax and your tired.  If you feel like a snack then try a snack size bag of popcorn maybe.  I know that I just read that popcorn is a good snack food cause it fills you up.  Stick with it girl.  It is not impossible and it sounds like you are just right there just keep yourself away from the food a little bit longer during the day and you will see a difference.  Also, I just recently started taking these B-100 pills (my mother-in-law who is a nurse says that they are totally natural and that nothing could happen from them)  but they are ment to speed up your metabolism and give you more energy.  That was one of my recent problems I had just been promoted and was super tired when i would get home and instead of working out like normally I would just sit on the couch with my husband and snack.  I have been taking these pills for about 3 weeks and have already lost 4lbs. because I am not late night snacking and have energy to play with my son and workout.  The only problem with them is that they turn your pee neon.  Take care!

Hello all new MOMS! My son Matthew is one month today and I am desprate to lose the 42lbs i gained with him! I weighed 140 and was very active and worked out at least 3-4 times a week! i am doing pretty good on the calorie counting but i just cant find the time to get a workout in! my husband is in the miltary so there is rarely a relief period for me! any suggestions! rach

Thanks vsmama! Cool

i am at a standstill and still can't really get into my pants!  its hard for me to get to the gym at 4:30AM b/c that leaves me so tired.  And, it seems as if I'm eating everything in sight!!!!  I need to get a hold of myself!!  I'm due back at working starting 11/3 and I'll be in my maternity jeans still!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  yikes!!!!!
