Stage 3
The YTWL is killing me! I can only use 5lb weights and I feel so wimpy. I even let my ego convince me to try 8lb weights today and I was immediately informed by my body that this was not going work.
On the other hand, I feel more and more like a bad*ss with the deadlift / bent over row combo.
What are you loving and hating about this stage?
Thanks Yoga!
Thats awesome about the biking. Wish my hubby didnt work most weekends!
I have some rollerblades that I havent put on in a long long time..but I think thats probably a great workout. I just checked CC and it says that for 20 mins of blading I would burn around 260 cals (that seems high considering my HIIT session at 20 mins only burns around 180-200)
Question about stage 4: I see after workout A there isnt a BWM or any type of cardio component... did you add anything to it? I think I would try and add the BWM but Ill have to see how my legs feel after the workout.
Question about "HIIT" so I typically do 5-7 intervals around 7.5mph high and 3.2mph recovery with some warm up and cooldown minutes... since this likely isnt true pure HIIT (not at my absolute max) do you think this would be okay to do after each workout in Stage 4? I know they say that true HIIT should only be performed once or twice a week...
yeah - stage 4 has HIIT only after one of the workouts. I did only what was required at that time and no extra activities. I only did 3X per week lifting and no cardio or anything else. I think it would be ok though if you feel you have enough energy and want to do more. I just recently started adding some running on the tread and biking because it is finally nice out! It was my attempt to shed a couple vanity pounds for the bikini... but hasn't panned out yet. I just end up being hungrier and eating more! lol.
I just completed my last stage 3 workout- so I wanted to say goodbye!
I will begin posting in the stage 4 thread once I start that on Friday.
I am definitely happy with the results so far- things are taking longer than I hoped they would take but I am seeing results now so that makes me really happy and that paired with good friends on here is keeping me motivated.
I had a killer last workout today (B) with a really good HIIT session afterwards. I still can only use 5lb dbs with the YWTL but I LOVE the burn from that!
I tried back extensions today on my swiss ball vs the prone cobras I have been doing and its much better- i can feel it working- just wish I had of known I could do it on my swiss ball earlier.... oh well.
Tomorrow I am going to do a 20 min HIIT/interval session on the treadmill then have baseball practice. Friday I will start Stage 4- then we are up North for the weekend!
Goodbye Stage 3. Out of all the stages I actually liked you the best. Looking forward to Stage 5 where I get to do these exercises again. (dreading stage 4 FSPP and Step Ups again)
Ciao! Thanks everyone for your support, I got through all targeted workouts in this stage and finished in just over 3 weeks!
Tonight is my last night on this phase as well, but I keep thinking I need to go back to square one and redo the whole kitten caboodle again.
I was so greatful for the bit of soreness yesterday from my last workout on Monday. Did realize after I worked out I was suppose to do A and did B but since it was a week since last workout it doesn't matter right.
There are no AMRAP is this phase right??
Nope I dont think there is AMRAP until Stage 6? I'm just starting 4 tonight and there isnt any in there either...
Not looking forward to Stage 4, but I want to have it over and finished with by May 20th (two workouts this week, and 3x's for the next two weeks)
Then onto Stage 5 which I am looking forward to- loved Stage 3.
Starting Stage 3 this morning. 3 sets?!?! Yikes. Sounds like it's gonna take forever. We shall see. . .
Ran a half marathon on Saturday. Today I need to get back to calorie counting. My zero weight loss/ stomach fat is making me crazy.
I'll report back later.
So, uh, hey. Body Weight Matrix.... Are you freakin kidding me?!?!
I did the matrix in 4.5 minutes. Towards the end of those lunge jumps, I'm sure it wasn't very good form. I rested 9 minutes. Did squats, lunges, and forget the lunge jumps, my legs just wouldn't work. I did 12 squat jumps, then done!
Anyone else find that BWM so difficult or am I crazy?
I must say I did really enjoy the rest of workout A! So far, my favorite.
Hehehe (insert evil smiley here). Yeah, people usually have very strong feelings about it - we love it or hate it (quite often both :)), but I don't think anyone ever said anything neutral about it :)
hahah Im a lover/hater of it. I think I hate it until its over, then I love it.
My first time I did it in 4 minutes. Subsequently I have gotten it down to just under 2 minutes (for both of them) which is amazing for me!!
You WILL get faster and better at it. The first time I dont think I could complete it....
I'm looking forward to starting Stage 5 on Wednesday evening and getting to do the BMW again. I love getting my *ss kicked at the end of the workout!
Yep it definitely gets easier. You won't believe it, but it really does! It's truly evil, but it works. And it comes back at ya in Stage 5. bwahahah
Ya not looking forward to doing that matrix again on Friday.
Did workout B today. Well, it's ok. I can't do more than 5lbs on the YTWL either. Not too worried about that.
My biggest worry.... so long man! LOL 1 hour, 40 minutes. The rest time seems extra long too. Especially between the crunches, etc.
Anyways, just venting I guess. :P
Did workout A this morning. The body-weight matrix was a killer! I only did 10 squat jumps and 9 lunge jumps. My legs wouldn't leave the floor! If Alwyn was sitting next to me, I would have slapped him silly.
I'll get this thread started again. Recently started Stage 3 (currently on 3:B:2), and must say I don't feel very strong after lifting for this stage. At the end of workouts for Stage 2, I felt like I had accomplished something, that I was getting stronger. Stage 3 doesn't give me the same satisfaction. It's not the rest periods because those seem to fly by for me. I think it's the combination of exercises. No real strength/explosive exercises. I'm hoping I quickly get over the funk that Stage 3 has put me in.
As for exercises, BW Matrix is killing me. I can't wait for the day I finish in under 5 minutes and complete 2 sets. The rest aren't that bad.
camazama - I think this stage is more "fat loss" vs "strength" You will get stronger but I think this phase is more sculpting the muscles you've previously built and get ready for building again in the next stage.
I am in severe trouble if this stage is fat loss instead of strength. I can't lose fat no matter how hard I try right now. I think my body is getting ready for winter. Storing of fat, hibernation, and all that jazz.
I love workout A for this stage. My arms are like jelly, heart rate is up, and I feel like a million bucks. Now, if I could just think positively about workout B.
Is my sodium intake too low?
You have nothing to worry about because sodium deficiency is extremely rare. In fact, there is not even an recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA... Read more
