Stagnant Weight Loss...and I was doing so well...

Quote  |  Reply

I began this a little over a year ago and have lost almost 20 pounds. I feel fantastic but i just want to lose a little bit more... 5 more pounds would be awesome.

But my body seems to like it right here with that little bit of fat hanging on to my thighs. I am working out more so hopefully some of the straight line in lbs dropped is muscle replacing fat... but my tape measuring isn't getting that much smaller either.

Any advice on the last five pounds, why do they seem to be the most difficult??? i know i can afford another 10, so it's not like i'm too skinny. What did you do? increase workout? I can't decrease my calories any more and am eating within my range persistantly. Don't know what else to do.

 Thanks.

In your picture, you seem to be in great shape.

Fat on women's thighs (a little bit of it, anyway) is there for an evolutionary purpose. Some of the fat on the butt and thighs (esp. the little pooch on the upper inner thigh, and the one on the lower belly, that nearly all women have) is meant to provide fat for breast milk - the only activity that mobilizes those stores is breastfeeding.  That way, even when women are underfed themselves (which was usually the case, historically) there's still enough fat for the baby.

If you are healthy and feel fantastic, why not just be healthy and feel fantastic? :)  Your body likes it there. There's no reason your mind can't, too.

Just takes a bit of practice, and ignoring the BS media messages we get. (Check out this photo retouching artist's site, under portfolio, and you'll see that celebrities look like real people too).

Wow. That website is insane.  Did you notice how they added fat to Juliette Stiles (i think that is her name).   Well, I agree, sometimes your body finds a place and stays there even when you think it should be lower.

I'm not looking to deprive myself or torture myself to lose the last 5..i'll keep the breastfeeding in mind for when my husband and i start a fam....

Thanks for the encouraging words. :-)

Live a healthy, sustainable life and if they come off, they come off. If they don't, well, you're still healthy and feeling fantastic, right? :)
