A good enough workout for what?

I use the stairmill only AFTER my weight training. Level 6-8 skipping a step and NOT holding on. Just using the rails for balance not leaning. Basically it just keeps me limber enough to drive home. But as floggingsully said what is your goal?

yes, a goal would help! my goal is to lose some belly fat and tone up my legs. im 5'3" 129lbs, my upper body is  pretty muscular. my main concern is the fat on my stomach.

As long as you're not leaning heavily on the side bars or going at a really slow pace, I can't imagine why it'd be a bad workout?  I use them, but only for about 15 mins max because I go at level 14 (out of 20) on the fat burner workout and I'm asthmatic so I get a little winded at the higher peaks of the workout.  When the workout's done, I do the cool-down for about 2 minutes at a level 2, where I either kick my legs behind me one at a time while climbing, or I turn sideways and step up and kick to the side a couple of times and then switch sides.  Gets a little more core workout in there. :)
