I recently read that a plateau is a short term halt in weight loss (2-3 weeks)and a stall is a long term one (months).

What is your longest plateau or stall and how did you bust through it?

Mine lasted almost a month and I busted it by upping my protein and water, then lowering calories (still above bmr) and carbs.

As no-one has answered I thought i'd get things started with some users from a little while back on this...

my longest plateau was like a week but only because I was eating out every other day because of birthdays/anniversaries, at least I think.  I really wish I could compare myself to others to see if I'm really just lucky to lose 25 pounds in 2.5 months or if I'm actually working hard.

Minimal excersize, mostly on Weight watchers diet.

I had a plateau for a couple of months, but it was because I wasn't eating a deficit. Once I started to eat less again, the weight flew off. I think it's kinda good to eat at your maintenance for a couple of days or even a week and then drop it back down to get your body back into weightloss mode.

I had a 2 month plateau where I exercised, binged, starved, binged and exercised some more.  I had no PLAN.  Now... I am back on track- took a while, but I exercise morning and afternoon, eat a healthy 1200 cals and have lost almost 15lbs just this month.  It's hard to get in a system, but you just have to make yourself realize that you'll never meet goals if you don't get your ass in gear!

Nevermind. I was repeating myself.

I'm plateauing but I don't think it's a real one, more like I'm maintaining because the allure of all food everywhere is too much to overcome, and so I eat at or above maintenance (I manage to be good for breakfast and lunch, but come 4 pm or so, BAM, that's it)

I'd say breaking this pattern would require me being tied down and kept far from the sweet tin :)
