Quote  |  Reply

what is a healthy standing heart rate?

I'm 5'6" and weigh 280 (lost 5 pounds!!!) and my heart rate is 76.

Is that good? Bad? Normal? Low? High?

What is a healthy and normal resting heart rate? Now we can look at just what is a healthy and normal resting heart rate. Your resting heart rate is how many times your heart beats per minute while you are at “rest”.

While there is some debate on this topic it seems that a healthy heart rate is:

Between 60 and 75 beats per minute for men and between 60 and 80 beats per minute for women.

The fitter you are the lower your heart rate will be. Some professional athletes have a resting heart rate as low as 30 beats per minute! On the other hand, if you have a heart rate over about 80 beats per minute then you should seek medical advice regarding your health and diet as you may need to make some changes.

I got this from here.
thanks!!!
That is a very good heart rate. Your axually very lucky!:)Mine is usually 120 during rest and between 150-200 beats per minute upon standing...do to a rare condition.
I was at the doctor yesterday and they took my heart rate and all that, and mine was 47!  The nurse told me and I was like "...uhhh?!!!"  So good to know that low is good, and I'm not ACTUALLY dying, haha.

athletes as low as 30 bpm? isnt that dangerous?

i know im in a different situation...but im recovering from anorexia and anything below 46bpm was deemed very unstable when i was in the hospital...
