STARBUCKS - Is It Really THAT Bad?
I'm a typical girl and I'm absolutly addicted to Starbucks. I also have been gaining weigth ever since one opened by my house.
Could it be my frilly lattes and Frappes could
(haha accidnetally hit the button..)
...could be packing on these unwanted pounds and ruining my jeans?
And if it's true, what can a girl do?
ahhhhhhhhh Starbucks!!!! I have to limit myself to one a week.
and I dont do the lowfat, sugar free stuff either. :)
But if you can do those, then try to.
you will pack on the lbs. from there but I think in moderation you should be fine. go for the smaller size drinks vs the larger.
hm, i say it would be really fattening since they probably use whole milk and there's just so much sugar involved, not to mention the whipped cream and the choco syrup. [do frappacinos have them ? or do you mean the bottle you get at stores? if you do mean the bottle, those have A LOT A LOT ALOT of sugar!!! but they're yummmy XD]
okay that was the stupidest, most obvious post i've ever wrote lmao
check out starbuck's website it has great nutrition info and lets you make your drink how you want it (milk, sugar, whipped cream etc.)
Nothing is totally fattening. its all about how much you have. I think starbucks may be a problem as people tend to get huge servings, and load it up with teh sides. But you can have stuff from their healthily. And it wont just be starbucks making you "fat" - its a toatly amount of cals in and out. Its just often a source of many cals (as they have huge muffins and super-sized drinks)
I always get a Tall Nonfat Sugarfree Vanilla Latte - 120 cals. I get maybe 2 a week, and make sure they stay in my calorie limit. They haven't hurt my waistline yet!
Depends on what you order and if it fits into your allowed calories.
I'm lucky, the local Starbucks is a 20-30 minute drive and an hours bus journey! So I'm not tempted too much.
Although, I'm being driven there on a date tommorow. ^_^
Anyway, it is quite unhealthy depending on what you had. I posted a thread asking about low calorie coffees from there a few days ago and there ARE low calorie(ish) options for you to have but obviously, everything in moderation.
I too am a Starbucks addict... when I decided to lose weight I knew Starbucks couldn't be excluded!
So Starbucks stayed (4-6 a week) and I still lost 67lbs in about 6 months... I am now a size 0.
If you get Tall Non-Fat Cappucinnos you are only putting 80 calories in... not the end of the world!
Hehe for Christmas I gained 5 pounds after using my nifty starbucks giftcard. It had to have been all of those frappes...
Needless to say, I am a broke teenager and now that my card is totally empty now i've actually lost weight now. Go figure...
It really depends what you get and how you work it into your daily calorie needs. I always get a tall mocha lite frappuccino. It's 140 calories, mostly carbs, so I have to be careful to get enough fat and protein on those days. So just be smart about what you get! Look on their website, they have the calorie count for EVERY drink imaginable... every size, with/without whipped cream (always get without, it adds like 100 calories), soy/skim/whole milk (always ask for non-fat).
I am a major starbucks addict, i cannot live without it and get about 3 a week, my fave is a sugar free vanilla cappuccino with soya milk its only 100 calories!!
for all the info on calories in beverages and food go on this sight
http://www.starbucks.com/retail/nutrition_bev erages.asp?strError=ERROR&cookie%5Ftest=1 - it tells u everything about all the starbucks drinks and stuff, so u can know what to avoid and what to drink!! generally though stay away from the whipped cream and full fat milk..thats what i do and i have a starbucks about 3 times a week and it doesn't really make a difference to my weight!
I had to splurge at barnes and noble this weekend and got a cinnamon dolce frappucino. I literally sucked it down as I read my book. The straw never left my mouth. I was full until dinner, but probably because it likely contained more than 300 calories!
i go to starbucks every morning, because i'll admit i've got a bit of a
caffeine addiction. but i think if you just get a regular brewed
coffee (tall is just 5 cal) and then you can add skim milke and equal
packets to flavor it, and it still cums to just about 15 cal.
still get your coffee fix with a lil bit of sweetness, and it usually
does the trick and wont give you that awful bloated feeling after, say,
a latte.
Ok so I use to work at Barnes and Noble in the cafe and I made starbucks drinks. Totally became an addict. Yea just hook an I.V. to my arm. I quit that job to start my career but I am still totally hooked. Now though since I have been working with this site I make sure my drinks are made with skim milk and I usually get a tall and balance the drink and cals into my daily intake. I am making more coffee at home (cheaper and less cals) but I still treat myself on weekends or special occasions (like girl talk time) Like anything...it is all about moderation and balance. Have your starbucks but just try to order your drink with either splenda/skim/no whipp or like in a previous comment order a smaller size... Definately try hard to stay away from the bake case in both stores (B&N) and Starbucks... That plus a drink can really add up the cals and fat.
If you were drinking these kind of frappes and lattes a lot (with the whole milk and whip and sugar) and you cut back you will loose some weight...Def.
I love Starbucks. Especially hot chocolate with whipped cream probably one of the worst things there. And the cakes are so good, but so calorific. I think I might start trying to go on to skinny lattes and then down to espressos (which only have 6 calories in for a solo!) compared to the hot chocolate with whip which has 289 calories *cries*
let me tell you. i'm more obssesed with starbucks then anyone i know. i get a frap at least 4 times a week. and they days i dont, instead i'll get an iced latte. i don't really think it will make you fat as long as you fit it into your daily calories thats what i do. and i'm fine. i also work out like 4 times a week. but yeah basically i always make sure to make room for a frap or a latte. no way i'm giving it up!
I get a tall Americano which is about 15 calories. Then I add a sugar free shot of vanilla which adds like 20. So wa-la 35 delicious calories of joy!!!!!!!!!

A venti skinny iced latte is only 110 calories. And worth every one! You get dairy and protein...
