Starbucks is SO EVIL

Quote  |  Reply

OMG i am so mad

I just went to starbucks... I have the drinks under control, I usually get a coffee with non-fat milk or a skinny latte [150 cals] or a non-fat capp [60 cals]

but today i got the lemon poppyseed loaf because i was sure it would be around 280cals... but omg it's 440 calories! I could have had a big mac! or one of their donuts!

I wish they would write their calories because if i wanted to eat 440 calories I would not eat one of their dry mass produced desserts, i'd go somewhere good.

SO SO Mad

well..at least I walked there and did some walking around the mall afterward

i know what you mean, starbucks is very sneaky! but hey, don't worry.. those lemon loaves are DELICIOUS :) so just forget about it and move on.. no biggie! you can also check the nutritional info on the starbucks website before going i'm sure.. but either way, it's really not a big deal.

i know

:(

i'm gonna go for a run later to cancel it out

I just am mad because I could have had a hamburger... i LOOOOVE hamburgers [GO MCd's 250 calorie 99cent hamburger!!]

anyway.. you're right it's not a big deal because I wont make the mistake again and at least now I know

the thing is it wasn't delicious enough for something that is 440 calorie

Starbucks is DEFINITELY evil! They make me feel like a wierdo for ordering nothing but a plain coffee... I very rarely go there and people keep giving me Starbucks gift cards.

you know who else is evil????

everyone in the weight GAIN forum Yell

there is only about a 160cal difference between 280 and 440... you can easily burn that off with about 20mins of excersize

I think you are over reacting.. most 'normal' people do not have a certain set number of calories and can still lose/maintain weight if their daily calories deviate from day to day as long as they don't eat more then they burn on a regular basis

just make smarter decisions next time.. I dont think this "loaf" falls into the food pyramid anyways. it's probably all sugar and fat like a cake i'd imagine. Go for a whole grain bagel next time, or cut the 'loaf' in half and leave it for later, or throw it out

I don't think i'm over reacting at all

i already said im going to work out to cancel it all out, and that now i know for nexttime

and a bagel is probably the same amount of calories anyway, whole wheat or not

the point is instead of the loaf i coulda had a HAMBURGER

where the calories come from is more important then how many calories are in the food

a whole wheat bagel will have more nutritious and satisfying calories then a peice of "loaf", and a mcdonals hamburger is probably one of the worst things you could put in your body... if you eat more whole foods you will feel more satisfied and lose more fat, then if you were to eat whatever just to get your calories in

whole foods take more energy for the body to digest, and keep your blood sugar levels steady... no sugar highs and lows that make you crave more sugar/carbs

do what you wish, but ultimately a body built by lean protein and complex carbs will look better then a body built by loafs and hamburgers

who says i'm eating just loafs and hamburgers? i also like eating vegetables and grilled fish and chicken and whole wheat bread

this was my treat and i don't think there's anything wrong with eating junk food

at the end of the day a calorie is a calorie

Trouble with Starbucks is everything is super sized. A slice of cake makes me feel a little ickie half way through yet i eat the whole thing to justify not wasting it, stupid hey!

hahah yes that's exactly how i felt halfway through

who knew if i just threw out that last couple bites it woulda been like 80 calories

sometimes I even get a 'short' size coffee

also i dunno if that's you in that picture chelsea, and this  is coming from a totally straight girl, but.... daaaamnnnn

Dont feel bad thin girl.  I had a horrible day too.  I was out and about with my son and he started begging me to go to one of those asian fast food places.  I think it was called the Panda Bowl or something.  I know that food is just as bad (or worse) than a burger but I figured I would have the vegetarian option.  Well, they were out of the tofu and everything else was deep fried in some way.  But we were there and not about to leave.  So I got the orange chicken.  I would work it into my diet in some way but they did not even have nutritional info available.

My saving grace actually came about because my son decided he was ill when we had only been there 10 minutes.  I only ate about 1/3 my meal.  So I left hungry and probably ate as many calories in that 10 minutes as an entire salad with chicken from Wendy's (which was across the street).

Dammit - if I am going to eat fast food I should have at least eaten enough to get full  lol

hahaha yah fast food is tricky

i've come to get used to just always asking for stuff without sauce

and also those salads are tricky too

for some reason, no matter how much stuff is on a salad, i never feel like i've eaten a meal with just a salad

and those wendy's salads are just as bad as a burger [calorie-wise] and are usually filled with iceberg lettuce, so it's not like there's more vitamins than in a burger

whyyyy hasn't someone invented an ACTUALLY HEALTHY fast food place instead of just seemingly healthy fast food place

I didn't want to make a new topic for this

but i wanted to say that this is such a FUN way to make time fly at work

i'm so glad i joined this forum

i love you all!

Nah the wendy's salads are fine..  Yes they are mostly ice berg lettuce. But skip the toppings and dressing and they are only about 180 calories with the chicken.

They fill me up enough.  But I eat 6 times a day.  :)

Glad you are having fun.

wow you are right

i just looked up the nutritional value for wendy's

a mandarin chicken salad with dressing and toppings was 540

but take away a few almonds and noodles and it's 180

amazing!

and you can keep those almonds for a snack later

Starbucks in general scares me. I cant even go to the one at the local stop and shop. The employees always have this snotty bored attitude.

thin_girl. Thanks i needed that compliment today :-)

Yeap thats me in a bikini at 134lbs though i want to get down to 125lbs as haverather heavy thighs, hips and bum. The before photo is in my profile, was taken a year  and a half ago on holiday, hated my body so much it was the first time in my life i ever wore a bikini and my friend was mean enough to take a picture. Seeing that photo was the motivation, instantly i started dieting and hit the gym hard daily though i havent been for nearly a year due to injury, then laziness!

Whilst i hate the before photo and would die if anyone i know sees it, im really pleased i put it on CC, motivates me everytime i look back at the change.

Are the dates accurate in your journal?  You just joined, so you've been a member less than 24 hours now?  First rule to dining out is to check out the menu.  Starbucks does have a menu.  You could have avoided this rant by checking it out online first, or even asking an employee for one.  You can even get most items right here from the food data base, which is where I'm assuming you got your calorie info from.

Starbucks is not evil, you are just uninformed and unarmed to handle a situation like that.  Every one makes a mistake like that once, and I bet you'll never do it again.
