Starbucks = HEALTHY! SWEEEEEEEET.
Ok, so I work at Starbucks. THis.......can be difficult when you're trying to lose weight! Unlimited free frappuccinos while working? Free drinks 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after a shift? Yeah. Talk about temptation.
So tomorrow Starbucks is coming out with a new beverage: Vivanno Nourishing Blends. There will be two flavors: Banana Chocolate and Mango Orange Banana.
The Banana Chocolate one will be made with a whole banana (freshhhh!), a few pumps of mocha syrup (ONLY bad thing in this), some high quality whey protein powder (really high quality, actually, I was surprised), and whatever milk you want (can you say: nonfat?) With 2% milk, this drink will be 270 calories, 5g of fat, 44carbs, 21g of protein, PLUS it's very very very filling.
EVEN BETTER:
THE MANGO ORANGE BANANA one will be made with a whole banana, 100% pure fruit juice (naked brand), the high quality whey powder, and whatever milk you want. This will have 16g of protein, 2g of fat, TONS of vitamins, 47 carbs....and it's also really filling.
I'm excited, and you should be too.....it's gonna cost about the same as a small frappuccino......but it's a GRANDE size. And it keeps you full for longer, with lesssleessslesssssssss sugar!!!!
It's my new opening-the-store-at-430AM drink. :)
Yeah i work at starbucks too. I think its a good idea but a little overrated, my manager is a freak and she is so hardcore excited about these things like they're magically gonna make her lose like 60 pounds of excess fat. sorry a little rant going on here, sometimes starbucks just freaks me out. Mostly just my insane manager. lol
I work at Starbucks too :)
I'm excited the drinks launch tomorrow! I make up my own healthy version of it though where I use the whole banana, non fat milk, soy milk, sugar free vanilla and the protein fiber powder. sooo yummy!
Do you know the nutritional info on the powder? I looked at the ingredients but it doesn't say on the bag. :(
P.S. not looking forward to wearing those ugly green shirts tomorrow. :(
So I had the Mango one this morning and it was awesome, but I was wondering how the nutritionals change if you use skim milk or get a sugar-free syrup in the chocolate one. Since the starbucks site doesn't help, do you guys know exactly how much milk is used in these drinks, and how many pumps of mocha?
I'm also curious about the protein content difference, is it because there is more milk in the chocolate drink?
Thank you!
But there's a 5 gram protein difference between the two drinks and I would imagine they both use the same amount of powder. Since the mango juice probably takes up more volume than the mocha syrup, the chocolate drink will probably have more milk to end up with the same size drink, right?
I'm just not sure if this reasoning is correct because a five gram protein difference would translate to over half a cup of milk extra in the chocolate and the drinks don't seem that big, considering there's a banana taking up a large part of the volume...
DH does maintenance on Starbucks' computers so he got a sneak peak at the chocolate one last week - he said it was good stuff. :) Shame they don't have strawberry though (I hate mango!)
How much milk goes into each of the smoothies? The site only give information for 2% milk (who knows why--a typical Starbucks move anymore). Anyway I figure I can roughly figure out the difference on my own if I have measurements.
Thanks:)

Thank you so much for letting me know about these. I LOVE the banana chocolate. I got one last night and I just got one on my way to work. I'm worried, though, that now that starbucks has a healthy option, I will end up giving them all my money.
Haha I didn't have a long enough break at work today so I went to Starbucks and tried the banana chocolate one nonfat with a shot of espresso- very refreshing, and satisfying! Kept me full for 6 hours until I had dinner when I got home :)

I tried both... they were ok. I wouldn't spend 270 calories on them. I tried a sip of the mango and split the chocobanana one with a friend. It would be way better if they blended it with ice.
There is ice but we use a smaller scoop for it. Feel free to ask for more! :)
Both of these are amazing, though I don't know if anyone else has gotten the crazy look that I have when I order them with nonfat milk. One guy was joking around with me that I had already made customizations to a drink that was like 2 days old, haha. But I have no idea how much milk they use, I just assumed it was a cup and so I took off about 40 cals or so for using skim milk... I'm probably way off but oh well =)
Yes, Linny the 270 cals is including 2% milk, I got mine skim and I think it ended up somewhere between 230-250 (i checked it on my food log on thedailyplate.com)...and they were more than happy to do it with skim milk for me, i'm sure you can also have it done with soy if you ask.
I wanted to try the chocolate banana one, but the lady in front of me was like ..."ahhh it's okay..." so I opted out. Maybe I will get one tom haaa!!
