starbucks iced brewed coffee
On starbucks website, it says that the tall iced brewed coffee is 60 calories, but it also says that it is slightly sweetened. When I order the coffee, it isn't slightly sweetened, it is basically black. Would this mean that there are no calories or less because it isn't sweetened?

i work there. the iced coffee gets classic syrup added in by default unless you request it without. i think it may just taste black because they brew it double strength. (otherwise, the melting ice would water it down.)
That said, some stores may do things differently, so next time you get it, you should just ask if they are adding the classic syrup.
Regular black coffee is 5 calories. If it's sweetened, those extra 55 calories are from the sweeteners. Does it taste sweet at all? if maybe just even a little...I would add in a few more calories, just to be "safe." A leveled tablespoon of sugar is 15 calories. So Im guessing what you had was around 10-15 calories.
That's just plain coffee with syrup but not cream right?
I've had it when it was sweet without even asking for that, but the last couple times it has just been black and not sweet at all. They ask me if I want any creamer or anything and I say no, so it must be 10-15 calories like you suggested. Thanks!
Kae--you have to specifically ask for it "unsweetened" or it will be the 60 calories as listed on the website. If you like it sweet, you can ask for it unsweetened but then tell them to add splenda (or another artificial sweetener) when they shake it.
