Starbucks Tea

Why is it that tea from a coffee shop like Starbucks or Costa or anywhere is always something like 200 calories? Its a teabag and boiling water for Pete's sake!

and SHOOOOGA!!!

Haven't had Starbucks (besides sips from my friends, of course :P) since...oy... April I think!
If you don't add milk or sugar...i don't think it actually is anywhere near 200 calories...where are you getting your numbers from?

Just typing in Starbucks Tazo and selecting whatever size it was. I never add it to my log as 200 because I know a lot of that is milk etc and I usually have only a little bit and that's always skim anyway.

I'm slightly confused by your post.  If you are ordering just plain tea...then yes, it is basically 0 calories...which their website says.

Are you ordering a mixed tea drink?  Or a tea latte?

Either way, a Tazo Tea from starbucks is listed as 0 calories

Thank god for that! I thought so, but hadn't actually gone to the trouble of looking at the site. Thanks jazzislove ^^ I spose I just thought that they did some magic thing with either the teabag or the water to make it so expensive and calorific but obviously that's just big chain shops for you.

Tea has no calories unless you add something to it besides water.  Most of the listing for Tazo is for the Chai Tea Latte or Green Tea Latte--both of which have milk and some sugar.  I usually stick to plan old tea, but Chai latte is my favorite treat!
The standard iced Tazo teas are sweetened with syrup unless you ask for them to be unsweetened-- unsweetened teas are nearly zero calories

I drink 1 Tazo Chai every day but not from Starbucks. You can buy the tea bags from the grocery store (or maybe even Starbucks) and then add skim or 1% milk and I use splenda but if you use a little bit of sugar then you only have a few cals from the tea bag plus your cals from the milk and the sugar (and no cals from splenda) I would much prefer a Grande Tazo Chai Latte No Fat No Foam but I don't want the cals!
Starbucks does sell tea that's about 0 calories. What kind of tea are you getting?

There the blended teas....like black tea lemonade, or fruit juice blends...and there's also chai teas. If you get a chai, ask for nonfat milk because that will lower the cal content. You can also ask for more water than milk in it, so you're getting less of the calories from the milk. But with the lemonades and juice blends, you're going to get a ton of sugar anda ton of calories.
