Let's start a group! Anyone need to lose 10-15 lbs?
Hi, my name is Karen. I started calorie counting a little over a week ago, I need to lose about 10 lbs. I know it doesn't sound like much to many people, but it is still hard. I am very petite and 10lbs on me is equivalent to probably about 20 lbs on a larger person. I would like to start a group to support our more modest weight loss goals. My goal is not just to lose the weight but to start eating less on a regular basis, I generally eat healthy but need to be more consistent and eat less.
Hey Karen! Totally me too, though I'm not THAT petite :) I weigh about 20lbs more than I did in college, so I'd be happy if I could get rid of 10-15.
Hi, Jenny. I don't weight what I did in college either, or even what I did two years ago. I have weighed more than I do know (by 4lbs) and vowed never to get that heavy again, so thus my mission. How long have you been calorie counting? How is it going?
Hi Karen!
I'm Karen as well or KL for short. Today is my first day on Calorie Count and I' m hoping to drop at least 15 lbs. before Summer arrives. I'm only 5"2 and currently @ 135 lbs. Weekends are my toughest challenge when I'm on a diet. Too many distractions and temptations around. So it would be a definite motivator if we could weight in every Mondays to monitor our progress.
Hi KL. Sounds good. On Monday I weighed 116.5, I started at 118, and want to get down to 105-108. My toughest challenge has been the calorie deficiency, I am HUNGRY. Yesterday, I just couldn't do it, I was so hungry, but I also believe in listening to your body. I wasn't eating just to eat, boredom, emotion, cravings etc. I was famished. But at least I got a vigerous workout in. Are you exercising? I do, but not enough.
Hey there Karen. I'm up for the challenge, why the heck not? :)
Here are my stats:
Start weight (Aug.07): 265
Current weight: 197
Mini goal: 185
Ultimate goal weight: 140
I am right there with you all. I just started counting calories seriously yesterday. I have tried keeping track mentally before but have never done anything this drastic before. I want to loose 15 lbs by the time I go on a cruise at the end of the summer. Most of the weight that I want to loose is in the stomach and it doesn't seem to budge.
I have definately have the stomach issues, my weight is all in my stomach and back (back fat, ick). My stomach was always my problem area, but after my baby (who is now 3 1/2) it is even worse. I am going on vacation mid-June and would like to be down to 108 by then, and not worry about what I eat on vacation. I'm going to Cape Cod and plan on eating lots of lobster.
Anyone else have kids?

I did exercise before the diet but not seriously enough to expense my food intakes.
Now that I'm serious and determine to lose the weight, I went back and joined my old gym last week. An old friend still work there as a trainer and he suggest that I try the following excercise routines for a month or so.
- weight training 2 times a wk. (40-60 ms.)
- cardio exercises 3 times a wk. (60-90 ms.)
- core exercises 1 to 2 times a wk. (40-60 ms.)
does anyone have similar states as me?

Jenni,
That's awesome that you lost almost 70 lbs. so far and counting. I admire your hard work and discipline and wish you all the best in reaching your weight goal.
I need to lose about 15 lbs. and would love to join your group. I'm pretty new to this site..just start counting calories today, but have been to the site before. I'm about 5'6, and probably between 140-145. I was working out on a regular basis a couple years ago and was in great shape. Long story short...i haven't been working out as much for the past year, and quit smoking in August. Although it feels great to be a non-smoker, i'm about a half a size from growing out of every pair of pants I own. Anyway, like I mentioned I started counting calories today and have been working out for about a week.....wish me luck!
Yup, this is me! 12 pounds to go, and I feel like it's never going to happen—all my hard work barely shows up on the scale (or in the inches, because I know weight isn't everything :)).
Start weight: 169
Current weight: 167
Goal weight: 155
I haven't been 155 since high school, and I would love to be back down to a size 9 pants and a medium top. I'm pretty tall so that's why my goal is kinda high. 155 will put me right at 19 BMI, which I think is perfect.
I workout about 6 days a week, doing cardio for ~60 minutes 3 days a week and running ~35 minutes 3 days a week, plus 3 times a week getting some weight training in for about ~35 minutes. My daily calorie goal is 1600, but if I work out a lot I bump that up so that my deficit is never more than 1000 calories (I don't want to mess my metabolism up!).
Anyway, it's hard but I really want this by summer!!
hi karen,
I'm adam and I started 10 days ago, and joined up at the gym a few days before that. I right now I am about 222-224 lbs depending on the day, but showing a downward trend which is pretty sweet. I would like to get down to 210, but I don't even know if that is possible with my frame (6'5", 55" around the chest). So I am in the 10-15 lb boat too :) I never really kept track of my calories until I found this site when I was searching for how many calories I was supposed to eat throughout the day. Now I am very aware of what I eat and have way more energy throughout the day. No more second pot of coffee at 5:30 to keep from napping.
I have been doing 3-4 miles on the treadmill 5-6 nights a week, but I want to mix in 3 days of weight training instead of cardio to get buff while I am at it. I eat between 1950 and 2300 cals a day, my burn meter says I burn 2700 cals a day but that seems a little high to me. So after a week and a half I am seeing a positive change in appearance, attitude and energy!!

I've been taking in under 700 calories a day. If I want to lose weight...I have to eat less...right??
Hey there,
April fools I hope. Under 700 a day?!?! If this is so, please look up the effects that this could have on your health!! This is not healthy!!
I want to join! I don't have any event to get thin for, except for life :) I think having a goal to work towards with some sort of deadline gives me something to motivate me. I have about 15 lbs to lose total, 10 would by may would be fabulous!
I have been working out regularly, but I must say I probably haven't been pushing myself as I should- started a new routine yesterday and I am aching, but it is a good ache- lets me know I did something :)
I pretty much eat healthy, i just tend to overinduldge and when the weekend hits it is easier to let go of any good habits I tried out during the week, so then the I give up cycle begins, that and i struggle when i don't see changes right away,
Anyways- I would like to make this time different and it would be great to have people to talk to about it.... not that i don't have support, but others get tired of hearing about diet woes.....

Hi Everyone, thanks for posting!
Heatherlee22, I too hope you are kidding, 700 cal per day is not good and your body may react by storing every ounce it can because you are in starvation mode. You are not getting the nutrients you need. Even at 5'1 with a small frame, I would not go below 1000 cal per day. (Not that I can do that). It is not just weight it is health too!
Awsome so many of you have that time to exercise. I try but I don't, I'm a single mom of a 3 1/2 year old. But I had better step it up if I want to get rid of 10lbs before our vacation.
I want to lose 15 lbs. from start to finish. I lost 3.5 in the first week and will weigh again tomorrow. I am getting married in Oct to the man of my dreams.....but I want to look better by the summer. 12 lbs. to go...I don't think I've lost as much as last week...I feel it. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week too.
