Olive oil and shea butter, start now and use it daily. It will help with your skin's elasticity....  You have to put it on as you grow otherwise, you're relying soley on genetics for your skin to go back to normal... and we all know, nothing is ever "normal" after having a child.
flgirl;  question; do you mix the olive oil in with anything before putting it on your skin?  how do you stop it from staining your clothes?  I use mario badescu muscle oil for stretch marks; haven't gotten any yet; but am always open to suggestion.  I put olive oil on my lips in the winter.
No, don't mix it with anything. Just don't go crazy. Just put enough on to actually soak into the skin, it won't take much! If you have to, wait a moment or two and wipe off any access... your skin will still get the benefits!
everything that I have read has said that stretchmark creams don't really accomplish anything because the breaks in the skin are not on the surface but under several layers of skin. However, the act of rubbing the lotion in and messaging your skin will encourage elasticity and cologin growth. I started vigorously messaging my skin around the third month and two pregnancies later no stretchmarks.
Exactly, it just helps with elasticity. Once the stretch marks are there, there's no getting rid of them.

Massaging really does help in conjunction to using a good cream or lotion, natural is best.  I had a patient once who used coco butter, and did not get any stretchmarks where she used it on her belly, but got stretch marks on her hips and buttocks - where she didn't use the cream.  Some how it was my fault for not telling her that people get stretch marks there as well, anyway.

So, it does help - nothing will guarantee that you will not get stretchmarks, and dont forget to use it on your hips, thighs and buttocks along with your tummy and breasts.

And start straight away, it will get you into a good habit, some women just suddenly 'pop' as well.  My sister went from one day looking 'normal' to the next day like she swallowed a melon.

Or you could be like me,

Week 40... no stretch marks, no baby

Week 41... no stretch marks, no baby...

Week 42... yep you guessed it, stretch marks on Monday and baby on Friday!  What a kick in the face on that one, I was like, you have GOT to be kidding me, I was pregnant for 41 weeks without a SINGLE stretch mark, and week 42 rolls around and my belly just couldn't handle it anymore and it now looks like a road map.  As if being 2 weeks overdue wasn't bad enough!  Granted, 2 years later and they have faded quite a bit, plus I already had some on my hips and breasts from "sprowting" early.  Ahhh well, just added the belly ones to my collection I guess!  Good luck :)
