Defining moment - having a really good look at myself in the dressing room mirrors .... first time in a long time ..... don't have a full-length mirror in my house .... obviously I need one .... I didn't realise just how fat I'd gotten ..... was only at the shops because my stretch jeans had stretched beyond the point of no return ie ripped!!
Good luck! I think you will find that you love it here! There are tons of knowledgeable people who are on the same journey as you, and it is a great community.
It is good that you had that moment, as harsh as those can be, because now you can start fresh and work towards your goals. I, on the other hand, knew how fat I was....but I finally got sick of being fat :)
Welcome to CC. Im fairly new myself. Im like Kelleigh, I knew I was fat, I was just waiting on a reason to lose the weight. My father dieing of heart desease at 55 and my husband realizing that he had toped 300 lbs did it. Now we are trying to lose weight together. He isn't on here. He leaves worrying about the details to me. Typical man.
Welcome MollysMummy...you are going to find this place very helpful....good luck and don't sweat it, when you mess up, just keep on pushing...I have been here since 10/07....I am down from size 20 to 12/14 and I feel great....Good Luck!!!
Good luck, good luck and good for you for doing something proactive to improve your health! It will have its ups and downs, but if you're making some changes I'm sure you'll start feeling a difference pretty soon.
Thanks guys .... doing Ok (only Day 2 afterall) .... got out of bed early to go for a walk ..... feeling pretty "into it" .... hopefully I can keep the motivation.

welcome and good luck. cc is great for tracking your progress but its the community that keeps you coming back and staying on your diet. i'm a newbie too but so far everyone has been great and supportive to each other. rewarding yourself after achieving small goals is a great idea, sounds like you could use a new pair of jeans.
I'm new to this too but so I've found it to be a really good site! The forums are full of advice that actually makes sense and the tools are pretty easy to use.
And the last time I saw myself in a full length mirror, I got a shock too.... hasn't happened for a while!!

Yeah, a large mirror in a dressing room opened my eyes aswell. I didn't know I was as fat as I was either, it was scary! Good luck!
Welcome and good luck to both of you. I'm a newbie too even though I signed up a while back. I've only been at it for just under a week and I've found that there's lots of help available and plenty of people to make friends with! I agree about setting goals along the way. I've got 75 lbs to lose but I plan to celebrate when I lose 25 and am 1/3 of the way there!
