Just getting started

I have been fighting my wt. my whole life.  We bought the eliptical last year and it was starting to look like it was going to beat me.  When I was looking at the minutes I could never go more than 5 minutes without feeling horrible.  Seems it was because my thyroid was all messed up and the exhaustion and muscle weakness I was feeling was not just because of needing to exercise.  So...

after a year of thyroid medicine and the desire to rebuild lost muscle.  I got on my eliptical.  I set up a playlist on my ipod and by pacing the music.....slow, then fast then slow then fast then slow again.  I managed to do 20 minutes.  Whooohooo!!!  That is a victory for me.   I walked over 15000 steps at work today so, even though tomorrow's steps will be just as much at work.  I plan to do another 20 minutes on the eliptical again.

So....wish me luck and strength.

Thats wonderful! Congrats and keep up the good work!

Good for you...!!! thats great good job!

I am just getting started with my eliptical but am finding it hard to fit in a lof of exercise time so right now i am devoting 10 min to the eliptical and 15 to stregth training calestinics during my hour lunch breaks this is allowing me to get in the much needed cardio. but  still fit  in the other activities i need to do at lunch with my home business.  Im going to add minutes every other week. as i find it easier to put the time in that i need to do the workouts. My goal is to eventurally hit 1 hour. but 10 minutes a day for now. is all i can fit in.

Congrats on getting back on & doing the 20 minutes!

I used to be a crazy ellyptical junkie sometimes on it for more than an hour at a time, but that's back in colege when I was actually somewhat thin and healthy. Now I'm about 100 lbs overweight and just had a baby, so when I got back on I was barely able to get 5 minutes... but after a few more tries I'm getting up to 20 and 30 minutes at a time... just depends on whether my back's hurting, or my ankle, or whatever aches and pains I have that day.

I've found that music is the key for me - it gets me all excited, almost like I'm dancing... I know - weird. But after like 10 or so minutes I really get into it & want to keep going.
