Let's get started...And be realistic 10lb. by March 31st..
Hey everyone, I know I need to lose alot more than that, but my body seem to adjust to anything that I do. The doctors tell me if you lose 1lb a week I should be happy. So I'm gonna try to be more realistic. Anyway let's do weighins on Sundays. And get started!

I will try to lose before that time but i don't think it will happen!
I'm Christine! Its so great that you all have healthy goals and post encouraging messages. I would love to join this group. I have a rather embarrassing reason - I lost weight last year and it's almost all come back! I lost it way too fast, but if I go a little slower with other people holding me accountable then maybe I won't be so reckless with my eating habits.
Losing 10lbs by March 31st sounds like a great idea... but I go back to college next week and it's going to be hard as all my meals are cooked for me and I will be struggling for time to exercise. I will try!!

Hi Everyone!
I'd love to join in. This will be my very first challenge
with you all. I joined CC recently, starting at 245.
Height - 5' 3"
Age - 49
Today's weight - 241
Would be ecstatic to lose 10 lbs. by the end of March! ![]()
Great goal! Count me in. I signed up long time ago and kept telling myself that I'd lose weight, but I kept setting these unrealistic goals that resulted in disappointment and made me feel so unmotivated. This seems like something I could stick to, though. I'd like to get to lose 15 lb total, but 10 by March 31 sounds good to me!
Height: 5'3"
Age: 19
Current Weight: 125 lb
Seems doable. CC says my goal of 118 (from 128) could be reached by March 25th.
Height: 5'1"

Age: 28
I love this idea. Count me in! 28, 5'7", 161. Goal: 151
I know that this thread will contain weigh-ins, but to keep this thread moving during the week, does anyone have any tips or encouraging thoughts on foods, recipes, or exercising? Does anyone have an special regimes that are working for them??
I actually have some good news - I managed to stay in my calorie goal today!! I've been quite bad with that - especially because of the holiday season. But I was successful and my willpower stuck it out - I find that encouraging!! It is hard to stay in the goal especially when you're in the habit of over-eating.
Anyone have any good news to share?
my only good news is deciding to join this thread. i need a kick in the pants about now. i have been doing some serious holiday binging and it needs to stop. i haven't weighed myself yet... i will sunday and let you know
current weight 135 ish ( i think... we'll see)

good news: a whole can of campbells soup select harvest light savory chicken with veggies provides 2 filling, warm meals at 80 calories each that are easy to transport to work (thus offsetting in a small way the insanity of candy and chocolate in the breakroom and making at least maitenance cals for the day reachable) good news, i am counting the insanity of cals in the breakroom...the best i can.
That's good news Jessie!! I know what it's like to snack on choccies when you've had low cal meals... you feel you should make up for it!
But the root of the problem is - do you feel full?? Soup and veggies are good in general. Soup gives you a full feeling and warms you up (comfort food!) and is generally low in calories. The same with veg.
I know what you mean about not weighing yourself... I had to pluck up alot of courage to stand on those scales. But now its over with, and everytime I stand on it now, all I can say is, "how bad can it be? I've already had the worst" Its the first initial weigh-in that's the most depressing, because you're hit with the cold hard reality of how much weight you need to lose!
Some advice for today, if you are hungry eat. I tend to be more hungry at night so that is when I eat more.
I stayed on my 1500 calorie target sunday and monday went slightly over at 1566. Today I was really hungry (did food shopping and carried 20lbs of stuff by myself *proud*) so I at at burning level for sedentary (1980).
I made gulash (sp?) for dinner. It was filling for me and enough for boyfriend. I still have 2 servings left for tomorrow (made enough for 6 people. 300 calories per portion).
Tomorrow is new years eve and I plan to have that as my "free" day. I have been craving "olieballen (oilballs)" they are a dutch treat that is only sold during the holidays. I have my eyes set on a bag made with apples.
I know it's not weigh in day but I weighed this morning and to my surpise I wa 187.6, 1.4 down since monday. I think it was water weight.
Anyway, good to see how many people are interested. To lose 10lbs by March 31st is a great goal, and a realistic goal. When I was trying to lose weight earlier this year I set unreallistic goals and it made me sick. I want to take my time this time around. Overal goal is 40lbs by December 09, 10lbs every 3 months.
I wills stop typing now :).
Does anyone get hungry when they stick to the calorie goal set by CC? I always do. Increasing my protein intake with protein drinks seems to help, but I still tend to go over my limit by 50-100 calories regularly. I exercise about 6 days a week, maybe 45-60 minutes each time, but I would think my profile would take that into account...
If I know I am moving alot I eat my sedentary level (1980 calories). Because I will still hae like 500 calories more burnt. I think it might be wise for you, on the days you are exercising to do the same. You will need those extra calories.
Happy New Year
Just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! Have a great 2009!
prosperit_e, I do know how you feel sometimes about the whole hunger thing. But then at other times I'm not hungry at all and could go for hours without eating. My activity is normal, but I just don't get hungry. Yet I'm not a person who "forgets" to eat, if you know what I mean! ;) I think about food often - if it is time to eat, I eat!
It's not Sunday, but I'd like to jump in on this one with "beginning-of-the-new-year" figures:

Age 75
Just joined cc and am looking forward to losing 10 lbs by March. I lost 40 lbs four years ago and 10 have returned (five in the last 3 months). This seems like the perfect fit for me. I need to have a little accountability!

I tend to use this calculator here. I've found it to be slightly more accurate for me (for "accurate" read "able to eat more and still lose weight"
)
Hello again, everyone!
I've just finished my second time of jumping rope. The first time I did it was for 30 minutes and now, I did about 20 minutes of the activity. Don't worry, I didn't do it without resting in between. Of course, after a while, when I run out of breath and/or start feeling my heart rate going up, I slow down and take deep breaths and begin again.
Jump rope is a good cardio workout if you're tired of running/jogging/walking. If you check CC's activity browser, jumping rope can burn a maximum of over 600 calories per hour! It's good for your arms and legs, and I've even read on other forums that it also works on the abs? Anyway, I felt my muscles ache the day after my first try on the jump rope. I had sore arms, shoulders, and thighs!
Hahaha, I must have surprised my own body. =)
Hello again everyone.. Happy New Year!! I'm was so excited about really getting into this challenge.. was going to the gym, eating healthy, doing the whole shabang if you will.. and then i came down with that nasty stomach flu that's going around =(. I just lost the most unhealthy 4 lbs in a day and a half ::tear::. As much as it was terrible how it came off... I'm hoping it stays off! lol...
Weigh in's are on Sunday correct? I'll see everyone tomrrow then!!
