hi all

as some of u may hv read my other post that im not loosing despite lots of effort.. anywaysYell

i got so frustrated that i gave myself a break.. for 2 days.. ate anything i wanted... didnt feel good though but anyways it was a big help for my depression

now im going to start afresh and wanted some good advice from those who lost good many pounds so that i may not repeat the same mistakes again.

Don't feel discouraged Crystal! I had a setback of my own this winter where I gained 20 lbs; I had been losing and maintaining for several years, but still quite overweight. I started my journey again last month and I'm very mindful of what I eat and have lost almost 5 lbs. People my size lose more at the outset, but I'm doing my own thing one day at a time.

Write down your challenges and pick one habit or eating habit to change. I don't know about you, but I get overwhelmed and discouraged if I focus on too many things and then give up.

For me, exercise EVERYDAY is the key. I can cut calories all I want but I don't see real progress until I am active, too. Likewise I've found that if I only exercise and don't watch my calories I have very little progress.

I started with walking around my country block (about 3 miles) then added some jogging. On days I don't jog or walk I go on the stationary bike for 30 min. Lately I've also been swimming everyday (I have the good fortune to have a large pond in my backyard and three boys that want to swim all the time LOL), and I picked up a Windsor Pilates vid at a local thrift store, so I do that every other day. One day I will jog or go on the bike then swim, the next day I'll do the 20 min pilates video and swim.
