So I'm giving the Couch to 5K plan a try. My uber-athletic boyfriend is going to join me as support. He will probably be bored to tears at the pace, but I love that I will have someone to be accountable to the first few times.
I've *never* been able to run an entire mile without stopping, not even in junior high and high school when I was in such good shape you could see the muscle definition in my calves when I was just lounging around. (Oh to have those legs again!) Now my goal is to finish 5K the day after Christmas!
As an adult I've been diagnosed with mild asthma and was told I've probably had a it all my life, which explains the breathlessness I always have after 1/4 mile. So now I'm going to focus on breathing properly abd will break out the asthma meds if that doesn't work.
Wish me luck!

Hi! I just started the same program on Tuesday. I'm about to head off for my second run/walk this morning. Like you, I've never been able to run a mile without stopping, either. We'll see if I make it on this plan. I really think the trick is to take it slow and work up gradually.
Good luck to you!
Good luck to you!
I decided to start this yesterday as well, of course Im getting over a bit of bronchitis and Im asthmatic so I will probably restart again on Monday and give my body a chance to heal.
I would love to be able to run again. I had started running several months back but sort of dropped it because I got busy doing other things. the 20 minutes 3 times a week to start is very manageable though and I hope this gets me out of the plateau so I can get these last ten pounds off :)
Good luck!

Running is great.
Running is great.
Week 1, Day 1 is complete. I almost threw in the towel before starting, but my boyfriend stuck by my side and got me through it. Wasn't nearly as bad as I'd anticipated. I'm already excited about Day 2 - tomorrow!
I should consider this!
I did the c25k when i started running.I couldn't run more than past three houses when I began it.
It does work. Dh and I have run 3 half marathons(our first) this year and I am 50 years old.
Good luck to all of you.
