I am starting my program on the first and would like some advice on controlling hunger, and getting motivated. I am a SAHM ofone 2yr. old child and besides cleaning the house I have all the time in the world to work out. However I cannot stay outside for more than 5 min. in the cold (cold allergy). Other than that I should have no excuse, but I cant seem to get up and do it. I think really hard about it, then I think I'll just do it tomorrow. Can anyone help?
Hi Nilap,
I have also just started talking to people. I have been counting calories for about a month and it is really helping me. I am also one to not want to exercise!! That's for sure! What is helping me is that I joined WOW (workout world and they also have Free Daycare) and also have 2 friends that go with me. Working out alone is hard and especially in the winter! I have been trying to go 4 times/wk, even if it is just for 1/2 hr. It gets me in the habit of going. I am currently snacking on baby carrots and celery. I figured if I can just lose 1 lb. per week, that will be 20 lbs. by the end of May - think of it that way! You will be ready for summer. At least that is what keeps me motivated...I don't want to have to wear winter clothes in the summer to cover up my fat! hahahaha.
Take one day at a time and think about the way you want to look, You are the only one that can do it and no one else....
Hello and welcome to c-c.
Controlling hunger is one of my downfalls as well. I find that if I am consuming nutritional whole foods my hunger is not a monster.
The trick is to log in the foods that you plan on eating for the day before you consume them. Check your choices for calorie totals.
The first thing that I would like you to do is to click the tools link.
Enter your data into it honestly.
You will find out how many calories that you should be eating daily.
What your BMI is.
How many calories your body burns each day.
And what kind of eater that you are.
These are tools that will help you with your weight loss journey.
The secret of losing weight is that you have to eat the right amount of healthy calories so that your body is well nurished and so that you have energy to do the things that you love to do.
You need to make a plan to succeed, but since you just started here please do the above first and you can work on the rest a bit at a time.
Can't go outside? You can exercise inside with your little one. I get on the floor with my grandchildren and we spread our legs with our feet together and do stretches by holding hands and just going back and forth.
My youngest grand daughter likes to flip. She bends over with her hands between her legs and I grab her hands and flip her. Doesn't seem like much but do this ten times and your arms will hurt.
We also fly. Since she weighs about twenty pounds, I pick her up and she flies all over the house with a soft landing on the couch. We have quality time and I get a work out that tires me out.
congrats on finding CC & welcome! man, i sure hope you like it here. that is so funny reading about you not wanting to get started. the day before i started, i said NO WAY over & over & over again & all day long, too... 'til my hubby came home from work.
but i'm telling you, once i started, there was NO stopping me. :D i am so much healthier, fuller, thinner & happier now!
anyway, i was saying no way, because me & my daughter had both got on the scale that night & we both weighed 218. i couldn't believe that i weighed that much OR that she did. we vowed to start the next day, so that's why i said no way all night & all day.
you see, every time i dieted, all i ever did was gain weight & there's no way i was gonna gain weight again. LOL
this time i didn't diet... AND i lost 86 pounds!
eat healthier, eat less & stay active!
feel free to read my profile... happy new year & good luck!
Hey Nilap!
WELCOME!! If you stick with this for even a short time-you will love what changes come about. I have been here for I guess almost a year. I am not at my goal weight but I also learned a lot about what that means. Once you start paying attention to what you are putting into your body when you eat...big changes will happen!
As far as motivation, I believe that when the first few pounds melt off, it is a lot easier and more motivating to move it off the couch and towards some activity. My advice would be to peruse the site and read some Q&A. You will begin learning very quickly. But like spoiled candy said: you need to make a plan. Develop some goals. Do you want to weigh a certain amount or just fit into a certain size? With strength training, I learned that you can't really go by pounds. At one point, I was actually smaller than I had expected but weighed more than I thought I should have...I was building muscle and losing fat. Beginners tend to drop weight very quickly in the first few weeks. Just stick with it for that long and I think you will love your new life!!!!! Good luck!
