Starting a Group to Lose 20 pounds by Thanksgiving!

I'm just starting my weight loss journey (for the last time) and I would like to have some buddies and people doing it with me!  So I decided to start a group for people who want to lose 20 pounds by Thanksgiving! 

My stats:

Age 24

5"3'

CW: 145

Short Term GW: 125 [Thanksgiving]

Long Term GW: 115 or 110

That's a great "long term" goal, but may be a little to ambitious for a just over 2 month time period. Be careful about setting your goals to high and falling into the old "setting yourself up to fail" rut! :)  Obtaining results from your efforts is very motivating, but not reaching the somewhat lofty goal you set for yourself can be very discouraging.

I agree with gddrdld.. There is exactly 11 weeks until Thanksgiving and it's supposed to be ideal to lose up to 2 pounds in one week. So that would probably be cutting it a little close.. but if that's your goal then go for it I guess!

I changed it to 20 pounds.... that would be less than 2 pounds per week....

I found setting smaller goals is so much better! I don't feel overwhelmed :)

Right now, the goal is to lose roughly 5 lbs. by my birthday, then 5 lbs. more in October. Baby steps...

I'm not trying to 20 lbs, but I'll cheer you on!

If you mean the US Thanksgiving.. ill do it.. I need 12 before the end of October.. so another 8 by the end of November would be nice... and bring me closer to my final goal of 235.

Down 11 pounds in 19 days. Exercise every other day one week.. every day the next week.. 1,200 calories a day. 6 glasses a water a day and dont forget to treat yourself .. ( small servings ) of  sweets twice a week.. Gives you something to look forward to!

Oh me too :)  I lose a bit more than 2 pounds a week, so I'd like to do 25 pounds by Thanksgiving.  And yes, I do eat 1500+ calories a day (mostly on the higher side towards 1800!) and I don't overexercise.. in fact, I mainly do walking and not much else.

Anywho, I'm 19, female, and 5'7 or so.

Start weight was 280

Current weight is 243

Ultimate goal weight is 175, but my initial goal is 200 and I will stop counting calories at that point and just eat a healthy lifestyle and my body will take me wherever it decides I should be, whether it's 180 or 150.. we shall see :)

And my goal for Thanksgiving is 215-220ish because I'd like to be near the 200 mark by mid-January, though it would be awesome for me to get there at Christmastime.. we shall see.. still being healthy, I just lose faster than some for some strange reason.  I mean kind of.. I won't lose anything for like a week and then I'll drop like 5-6 pounds the next and I don't do anything different, I still eat 1500-1800 calories and do mostly walking for exercise.  Go figure.

Our stat's are almost the same.  I am 5'2" and weigh 148.  Just started dieting today!  I have never dieted in my life and this is the heaviest I  have been.  I had 2 foot injuries and couldn't walk for a year --so, could not do ANY cardio.  I used to run 6 to 7 miles per day, plus, lift weights.

 

I would be thrilled to have someone to check in with daily.  Today, is my first day of counting calories.  I am still in the boot/cast, but, I am going to go to the gym tonight and lift weights and do the exercise bike.  Doc said bone is, finally, healing, so, I am sure this is safe for me. 

Thursday weigh in?

Should we all check in on Thursdays with our weight?  Laughing  They say weekly is good.  I KNOW I will weigh myself every day though. 

I'm in!! I registered just to participate in this thread. I was 142-146 about 2 weeks ago and now I am 137 .  I was always 115-120....and I want that back. I know what looks good to me and what feels comfortable , so 120 is my goal weight! I weigh mysef every morning just to keep myself in check and this has helped me tremendously. I had stopped getting on the  scale for 4 months because I had moved and became very busy, and that is when the weight gain happend.

YES!!  I usually weigh 114 - 118 (at the most).  I couldn't weigh myself because I couldn't stand up to get on a scale.  At first, I lost a ton of weight, then after the trauma of surgery, I started gaining, slowly and BAM.  Over a 2-year period...equals FAT FAT FAT!  I am so FAT! 

I used to be so fit.  I am even certified as a personal trainer and I used to do 2 half marathon's a year and 6 - 10K's.  HELP!!!  My skinny fit person wants to come back out!

Everyone says, "wow, you are in such great shape" and I say, "apparently, I layer my fat very well because I am FAT FAT FAT" and no one believes me.  They say, "I guess you at 115 or 120"...uh no!!  But, when I weighed 114, everyone thought I weighed 95.  So, I know I have lots of muscle, but, sorry, this is VERY VERY uncomfortable!!  Not to mention, all my clothes are size 2!  I have been in sweats due to the crutches, etc...

Yay!  Let's inspire each other.
