I was in the obese catagory. Over 2 years I went on a regume and lost 24 lbs and have kept off 24 of the lbs for 2 years and looking to gain back my healthy self. I am going to lose an additional 44 lbs. I need some help with keeping myself on track! I used to weigh 203 lbs (for over 8 years), now weigh 179 and want to reach my goal of 135 this year!

Anyone want to buddy up for the new year?

A little about me:
Mom of a 5 yr old
married for 7 yrs
33 yrs old
I am proud of these accomplishments:
Natural childbirth to my 9lb 11 oz son
I completed my first sprint distance triathlon last May 2006
completed my first half marathon last June 2006
completed my frist marathon this past October 2006.

I did the sport events in hopes that the training would help me get to my goal weight, and to give me a reason to have to get working oit everyday, but I think that I ate more with the thoughts that I was burning the calories with all the training. I have tried all the diet pills out there hoping for the magic bullet. I lost the 24 lbs in 3 months when I was diligent with tracking my intake. I want to do the same thing again and I think that CC will help me track my calorie intakes.

Anyone in the same shoes and want a support buddy? I would love to have a friend or friends to help each other along the way.

Looking forward to a healthier 2007!

You have done an amazing thing to keep those 24 pounds off for 2 years...keeping it off has always been my downfall, and for a lot of people it is the hardest thing to do!

You must be pretty healthy if you can do a marathon!

One thing I HAVE learned, is that I need to keep my calories over 1200 to make sure my metabolism doesn't dive.  Eating actually charges your metabolism.  Little bits at a time.  I just discovered pears actually help you lose - lots of fiber.  Try adding some pear between meals.   I have to stay completely away from white flour and sugar.  Once I start on those, it's all over.

Welcome to CC. I have been a member off and on for a few months. I once only used the food log and rarely visited the forums. I saw your post and had to respond to: Anyone in the same shoes and want a support buddy?

In June 2005 I completed my first half-marathon, in October 2005 I completed my first full. I was hooked on weekend 5k, 10k and half marathons for a few months and then needed a break.  After a few months off from training, I started training for another full for Fall 2006. Unfortunately, I became injured on one of my last long training runs shortly before the race and I wasn't able to run.

Infact, I haven't been able to run for the past 3.5 months and am still in PT with orders to keep the running shoes in the closet. I am now the definition of sedentary.  As a result, I gained 14 lbs since September!

CC helped me alot while training (the analysis helped w/ the % ranges for carbs, protein etc...).  I am now committed to using it outside of training to lose the weight. Like you, I want to get below my training weight too. I agree, while I ate very healthy when training, I ate TOO much.  I want to get back to where I was in Fall 2005 my first full - that is 29 lbs to lose. If I can do that, then I know I will be motivated to dream bigger (or should I say smaller)!  So long story short, I am in for giving buddying up a try.  Cheers to 2007 - my year to finish what I started in 2006.
Hey Anne!
Thanks for the welcome to CC!

I will add more pears into my diet! I LOVE them so much and rarely find myself pruchasing them from the store. great way to get more fiber into my diet. I do lack in fiber on some days and that is great advice to get things going.

I have to agree with you on the white flour and sugar....I seem to have a little and then....I eat everything in site that has a remote sense of sugar in it. If I can be "good" for 3 days in a row, I seem to have a good week the rest of the week.

I hope that I can get to a full 3 days in a row this coming week.

Thanks!!

Leuven97,

Oh my goodness! I am so sorry that you injured yourself before your marathon! I could not imagine how horrible you must have felt not being able to run. I would have been devestated!

I can relate to injuries! Even though I was not running back in 2002, I was snow skiing all the time and in fact, skiing is one of my favorite things to do! I have been skiing since I was 18 mos old. In the spring ski season of 2002, I was hit by an out of control skier while I was standing still waiting for my husband to come down the mtn. I was thrown backwards and heard a loud "Pop". I was hurting, but thought that i just sprained my knees. i went to stand up and was fine until i tried to move sideways. I tore both my ACL's one totally blown, the other torn hanging on by a thread. I had to reconstruct my knees that year. I gained 20 lbs during the PT time going from 183-203!

Which marathon were you going to run in fall of 2006? I ran the Nike Womans marathon in San francisco. What did you injure?

I agree with you! CHEERS to 2007 - your year to finish what you started and my year to finish what I started 2 years ago!
