Starting over
Okay, so for a very long time I've been eating 1100 - 1200 calories a day. But I want to increase my metabolism so that I can eat more. I also want to increase my metabolism so I could lose weight. Yesterday I walked for 45 minutes, that was my exercise. So I would just like to know how can I increase my metabolism and lose weight at the same time. Thanks.
Oh, and my stats are 5'4'', 125 lbs. Looking to lose another 5-10 lbs.
Help me please. I've got weird symptoms like a bloating stomach, and my lymph nodes are swollen.
why are your lymph nodes swollen?
don't be offended - but are you inducing vomiting?
increase your metabolism with exercise - it's the only way!
V.
I have clue why the lymph nodes are swollen?! I'm not inducing vomiting. So If I exercise how many calories should I eat if I burn 1610 resting and want to lose weight?
Hi ladydelish4eva! You are still in your teens correct? You should not eat below 1500 calories a day. Start by eating at least 1500 calories and that's without exercising. I'd recommend eating maitenence for a while and continue to workout. Don't freak out if you gain a few pounds at first it's just water weight and will go away soon.
See a doctor if you feel sick.
EDIT: I saw in another post that you were told to eat 1500 cals and clearly you didn't listen. Why ask the same questions if you already know the answers? You know what to do so do it!
How is that weight water weight?

Because if you eat 1500 calories and burn 1610 just by living (and that's without any exercise or moving at all) you are still creating a deficit of 110 calories a day. However, if you add some physical activity like walking or even going to school and learning then the amount of calories you burn increases. So you probably burn more like 2000 calories a day. When you burn 2000 and eat 1500 you are creating a deficit of 500 calories a day which is about a pound a week lost (2000- 1500= 500).
It is physically impossible to gain a pound of fat in a day if you are eating 1500 cals. So when you hear other girls tell you they gained weight when they upped their calories to 1500 they are confused and misinformed. The weight they gained is not fat or muscle its just water. Your body holds on to water for a number of reasons but releases it if you drink plenty of fluid.
My body is very sensitive so if I workout harder than normal, or eat different foods, or if I'm about to get my period my body holds on to some extra water; about 1-3 pounds. However, I know that it's just water so I don't freak out. I continue to eat the same amount of calories and drink lots of water and the weight is gone in a few days. Weight loss isn't a straight line it has ups and downs you just have to trust the system and trust the advice you are given. Weightloss is also slow and you must be patient.
Okay thank you. I prob. haven't really been listening because I'm scared. But I want to get on the right track, so today so far I have eaten about 630, and am eating about every 2 hours, so I will be able to fill in 1500, and hopefully my glands swelling will go down.
You really should see a doctor about the swollen glands.

No worries and don't be afraid. You are taking a step in the right direction! It takes a while to understand how your body works and how it reacts to changes. Just hang in there and remember the long term: you want to lose weight and you want to do it safely and healthily. Also I think you may want to get checked out by a doctor if the swelling in your glands doesn't go down.
good luck :)
Yes I do want to be safe and healthy. And I noticed about an hour ago that the swelling went a little down. My body I guess is trying to tell me "more calories!". But it is a litle scary. But thanks for your support.
ladydelish4eva, as we have told you before it is the mission of Calorie Count to promote healthy and sustainable weight management
As a teenager you should be eating no less than 1500 calories a day, at the bare minimum.
Forget about your metabolism, being scared and all that other stuff and just up your calories - plain and simple. What is scary is the damage you are doing to your body by undereating.
We will support you if you dedicate yourself to doing this. I understand if you feel the need to lose a few pounds (though I cannot remember your stats so am not sure you need to lose weight) but I am 5'1" and lost 35 lbs by eating 1500 calories a day and I am probably 20 years older than you with a far slower metabolism!!
If you are unable to increase your calories and you continually post asking the same questions, your threads are at risk of being locked. And we don't want that to happen.
So, up the cals, and you will get healthy and can approach weight loss/weight maintenance in a less stressful manner!
ok
