I'm 47 and I'm 5'9". Through the last years of my marriage I put on a lot of weight. I got up to 283, probably went over 300, but was afraid to get on the scale. I divorecd in 2000 and took off some weight, but was still in the 250-260 range. In 2002 I started an active job and started to eat healthy. The job was very active and I didn't have to work out at all outside of my job. I got down to 153 by the end of 2003 and stayed between 155-165 until 2006. I quit that job and slowly started to put on weight.

In 2007 I took a very sedentary job and completely changed my lifestyle. That's when the pounds really started packing on again. About a week ago I weighed myself and am back to 250. I started back at keeping a food journal and am struggling to watch what I eat.

It is hard for me to get any exercise, and I know I can't just change everything I'm doing all at once or I'll get frustrated and quit. So I plan on taking this slowly for the first several weeks and concentrate on when and why I eat, as well as keeping that log.

Any encouragement would be most appreciated. It's so hard to admit that I lost over a hundred pounds and then put it back on. It makes me feel like a failure. It is hard to feel positive, but I'm trying.

You should feel damned positive.  You're here!  You're trying again, and that's enough to feel positive about.

So come on, let's see that smiiiiiiiiiile.

It is very impressive and encouraging to know that you lost that amount of weight in the past!  I know what it is like to go from a "movement" type job (I used to work as a waitress in the evenings along with the day job) to sedentary (sitting with two babies in the evenings).  It's so hard to be active again but we have to wiggle some time in there.  It makes all the difference to our metabolisms!

I'm just starting over like you are!

Hi there!  I am also starting over.  I've lost 62 pounds, but since Nov. 07 I've gained 20 pounds.  Yesterday I came back from my vacation, of course bringing some extra weight and I started inmediately.  I know how you feel, Ive lost many other times weight and then gained it back.  This is a desease, but lets not dispair.  Try to brainwash yourself, and connect with your body.  Rememeber the nice sensation you felt when you went and tried clothes that fit you, and you look at yourself in the mirror and you saw how beautiful you are.  Try to stick to the positive part not the negative side.  I started writing everything I eat.  Do you have to cook for somebody else?  If you do ask them to help you.  Get all the bad food out of your house inmediately.  The most important is to plan ahead of time what you are going to eat.  DO not wait until you are starving, we dieters know we can eat at that moment a horse.  Order yourself, set a routine and try to follow it.  Take in your purse snacks you are allowed to.  Of course just the quantity you are suppose to have per day.   I've found that ORDERING is the most effective way.  And stay in touch.  Luchi
I'm starting over too! I have gained back 20 of the 30 lbs it took me over a year to lose! I took a second job and stopped working out, then I stopped eating right! But hey, I'm back, and we are all here for the same reason SUPPORT!! You can do it! You have already started!
moonikins, you're doing it right this time...taking it slowly and figuring out what worked. this time you'll do it but it will stay off. and, cc is a great place to be!
Well, if I could offer one word of advice it would be exercise.

And yes, every BODY has time to exercise even if it means getting up earlier to going to bed later. Many times it has been ten thirty and I still hop on the glider or exercise bike.

Just tell yourself that you will exercise EVERY DAY barring serious illness, of course. No taking off on the weekends (unless you also don't get on the weekends...)

Once you realize how hard you are working on the exercise plan, trust me - you won't mess it up with unhealthy food choices.

Good luck, you obviously know you can do it as you did it before.

Sue.
