starting your period early!?!?! sorry boys!
ok so Im on the pill....2 more days to go before I SHOULD start. Since having my son 3 years ago I have never been early, or on time! I should start on Sunday and dont usually start until Wednesdays. So I wake up this morning, spotting a little, no biggie. Now the cramps are coming on, and the spotting isnt much just spotting. called my mom inlaw(shes an RN) and she said no biggie dont worry. Im a little freaked out though...I havent missed any pills, not doubled up or anything. This was a bad week for me because I had something Im allergic to. I just wonder if the stress from that and a few other things are causing me to start early. Or has my "healthy eating and exercising" changed my cycle without telling my BC PILLS??? SUCKS I wanted to go hiking this weekend before starting! dag nabit!
Any advice??? Should I be worried?

i am on the pill to for medical reasons (pcos) and i've never had regular cycles but i do when i'm on the pill. i noticed that when i started eating better and exercising more that my period came about 1-2 days early :( but they are lighter and less cramping than before. i was told (by my gynecologist (sp?)) that losing weight will change your cycle a bit because the estrogen that's built up in fat cells will be released and won't interfer with the natural cycle as much. i'm not sure if that was just for me (since i have that condition) or if it's for anyone that's overweight.. i've heard it's for everyone but i'm not 100% sure on that. this probably doens't help much but it's all i know.. :)
no you gave me the same answer my mom in law gave so I think you are right... I know that exercise and eating right can make it less painful and lessen the flow but the coming early while on the pill was what bothered me. I was like, I better not be prego! LOL
Hm...well that could explain it- I'm NOT on the pill but I'm usually very, very regular- and this month I did end up starting 2 days early- and I have lost weight- It was weird cause I was "cycling" with my friend but we are only in contact through email! Aren't our bodies just "wonderful".....
oh yeah dontcha love emotions and horomones!! LOL
I was so gonna ask this today too. I am on the pill too. I have been on it for like 5 years. Since being on the pill I have been very regular. I started my diet in Jan 06. The last two months have been nothing different. But this month, omg. I did start when I was supposed to. But talk about a lessen flow. Its pretty much none existant, well at least compared to before. I had no cramping. I was a lil concerned, but reading this I think I will relax a bit. I have a gyno appt here in the couple months, and will probably just talk to them about it then.
Thanks for the info ladies.

It probably is just the weight loss. But if it bothers anybody experiencing it then check with your gyno.
Unfortunately for me my periods are just as bad if not worse than before. I think I've had the worst mood swings ever this last time around. I'm hoping it won't be as bad next time. Has anyone else experienced a worsening of mood swings (if you get PMS) or worse cramping because of weight loss? I'm fine most of the time but for about five days I turn into psycho woman.

yeah Im psycho too! mine are better than before. my flow seems heavier at first but the cramping isnt as bad. my thing Im waiting for is tomorrow. usually the 2nd or 3rd day I cant walk. Since having my son I have had issues with varicous veins in my legs but only during this time of the month. They get so painful!!! Last month wasnt too bad I was able to do everyday things but I didnt exercise on that day. Its just really bad for one day and then just annoying the rest of the week. so I hope that will disappear!
I have a question, not so much a reply. i have been on ovcon for about 9-10 months now and every once in a while, i will bleed a week early...and the next week that im actually suppose to start. so basically its like i have two periods a month(every once in a while)...and im sick of it! so im changing my pill to ortho-cyclen(sprintec) and am hoping everything will always be on schedule after my body gets used to them. i was just wondering how good this pill is and if anyone has actually ever specifically changed from OVCON to ORTHO-CYCLEN(sprintec).
I went from OVCON to Ortho, to Marvlon and I am so sticking to Marvlon!
I also found that exercising changed my period, I'm getting it earlier and lighter, with less cramps as well. My mood swings are insanely bad though and cravings are insane! I don't exercise when I have my period though.

so what was the problem with ortho?i know it varies with different bodies but were your periods still not on schedule?
Im on ortho and have never started my period on the day I should....always start 3days later except for this month!!! I started 2 days early and today is day 5, still heavy flow, cramps and my legs are killing me!!!
ortho was not strong enough for me and I was not absorbing it through my digestive system. I love the nuva ring!
yeah thats how i was on ovcon...sometimes a week early and sometimes start on the 3rd day of inactice pill:(i was hoping ortho would clear that up since there are a few more estrogen hormones in it than ovcon.
Ok I have a question for the older ones among us. I am on HRT and this last month I didn't get one at all. The Dr. is keeping me on HRT until I turn 50 for the purpose of continuing to have periods. I've worked out off and on my entire adult life and never had this happen is it just menapause or is it the fact that I lost 8 pounds? Just had a check up in Dec. and everything was good then. Any thoughts?
OK, I hafta know ... does anyone else get a really weird, almost hollow ache in their inner thigh just before or during their period? I've asked all the women who are open-minded enough to talk about it that I know, and everyone just tells me I'm nuts, lol.
oh i'm glad i found this post. i've got a question for everyone...i've been on the pill ever sinse i had my last baby about 10months now and my period has last about 2 weeks every month sinse i've been on the pill. i start at the begining or middle of my last week of active pills and then i still go all through the weeks i'm supposed to. it's been like this almost a year. has anyone else ever been through something like this? i dont' have the money to see the obgyn right now so any advice would be great!
lacirrom- Your not supposed to start your period untill after you start your non-acting pills. Not to sound gross but, is it a little bit or full flow before you start taking your non-acting pills? It may mean that your pill is not strong enough for you and you are having break through bleeding. That's how it was with me.
Im there with ya readnchick. mine started when I had my son. the weight of him caused me to get varicous veins from the back of my knee up thru my inner thigh....to well... ya know!!!!
It was doing better until this month. I look really cute holding my inner thigh becuase it hurts so bad sometimes. I just put a heating pad on it and it helps.

I got more regular after my son was born 4 years ago, and since I've been exercising it comes earlier than it used to. I get it about every 27 days, which is earlier than when I wasn't exercising regularly so that seems to be a trend here. But my cramps are still nasty, it takes 800mg motrin to take them away.
As far as being psycho woman, I had it BAD. I mean, no one wanted to be around me, including me (LOL)! I talked to my dr. and she diagnosed me with PMDD, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, which is different than PMS. Can't really explain how other than I have more emotional symptoms than physical, which is supposedly what PMS mostly is. Dr. put me on a mild antidepressant and I'm much easier to be around at "that time". I still get a bit witchy but nothing like before. I expect mine again around April 2nd.
Hang in there ladies, at least we have each other!

Maybe someone could help me out. I have been on the pill for about 6 months now...I have usually gotten my period on time (sunday start) lasting a good 5-7 days. Last month I Got my period on a wednesday instead of Sunday, and it was a lot lighter only lasting 3 days. It is the week before my next period is due and I started "spotting" on Sunday before i take take the sugar pills. It is now Wednesday and i'm cramping and the spotting is becomming heavier. I have been under a lot of stress since the weekend before my last period, but I have pretty much taken all of my pills on time. What is going on?! Of course in the back of my head i'm parinoid about pregnancy, but I have been on the pill AND use condoms...so I have to tell myself that probably isn't it. HELP! please:(
