Starting Turbo Jam today - anyone want to buddy up?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm pretty sure my new Turbo Jam DVD's are waiting at home for me right now and I'm SO EXCITED!  I have about 60 lbs. to lose overall, but my current short term goal is to lose 12 lbs.

Anyone else out there ready to start Turbo Jam and want to share encouragement and maybe the occasional whiny fit when everything is sore?

I just ordered mine...so I will have to wait til it comes in.  But as soon as it does...I am on board!

Fantastic!  I did the Learn and Burn last night and really liked it.  The moves are tricky but Chalene's energy is great.  I didn't feel like a fat girl trying to do a skinny girl's aerobics and looking like an idiot in the process.  Let me know when you get it!

Thats great!  I will be sure to let you know when it comes in.  I bought Slim N' 6 or something like that from beachbody before, but my knees can not keep up with the squat queen!  After finishing one workout..the whole next day it hurt to walk because of my knees.  Turbo Jam seems fun and thats what I am looking for!

Hi girls!

Second day on the CC, but started Turbo last week at my gym.  It's an incredible workout.  Get ready to be sore, but it's a great sore :)  My BF in Nashville is an instructor and has me hooked on this incredible program.  She us to take Charlene's class, so you can only imagine her energy!

Just a side note of advice.  You should do 1 to 2 days of weight workout too.  It will help speed up the metabolism and get the pounds off quicker, not to mention help get the bodies back into great shape.

Look forward to talking with you guys ands helping us all get to our goals.  I'm 43 married with two girls 18 & 16.  Starting weight at 165, hoping to reach goal in August sometime.  How about you guys?

Hey Sheila!

I am excited about getting mine!!  I will be sure to do the 1 to 2 days of weights.

I am 27 married with no kids just 3 dogs!  Starting weight was around 215lbs which was about 3 weeks ago...I am down to 202.5lbs.

So whats your favorite part about Turbo Jam?

Candice

Hi Sheila - I'm 32.  Weight 208 and hoping to get down to 150.  That's the skinniest I've ever been and I honestly can't imagine what it would be like to be skinnier!

I think I'll just do the Learn and Burn this week and then kick it into high gear next week.  I'm not going to do the diet part of the TurboSlim thingie, but I do plan on working out hard for 10 days and see what my results are.  I took my measurements after my first workout - UGH!  42" 42" 49"  Holy pearshape, Batman!

I think my favorite part of Turbo is the energy level it can take you to.  Of course you get out of it what you put into it, so it ultimately is up to us to do it.  I don't have any of the dvd's yet, but I know they are just as good as the class.

I need to do my measurements today.  I know I'm not going to be happy, but I need to do it.  This is the heaviest I have ever been, except for pregnancies.  Being 5'4" you can really see the extra weight.

Hey refoc - Did you TJ come yet?  My knees are a little sore - I think I'm not using the right technique sometimes.  I haven't weighed myself yet, since starting but I am really like it.  The only one I haven't liked so far is Cardio Party 1 - the music sucks on that one.  I just couldn't get into it.  I've done the Learn and Burn, the 20 minute work out and the Turbo Sculpt.  I think I'll give CP1 another try - maybe I was just having a blah night.

Hey pavlovcat...yes I got it in yesterday, but got off to late to try it...however I watch the learn part, some looks confusing but it make just take practice.  I have been trying to learn the tuck thing and maybe I am doing it wrong because if my shoulders are back then my knees hurt...I will continue to practice today while at work haha.  I get off a little earlier today so I plan on doing one of the workouts this afternoon since I did not get to go to the gym this morning.

So you dont like cardio party?  Thats the one that is 45 min...I may try it this afternoon or the 20 min and turbo sculpt.  Let me know how your doing.

I plan on taking my measurements before I start.

I'm going to try cardio party 1 again tonight.  I got the extended super dooper bonus pack, so I have two other cardio parties I can use also.  Good luck!

WOOOHOOO...the super dooper bonus pack!  I had no idea that it existed.  I only got the gloves and a measuring tape...haha.  If you like either one of those better let me know and I will see if I can get them off of amazon.

So I did Cardio Party 1 twice more.  I still don't love the music, but I was able to get into it much more.  And it totally kicks my butt!

I have to say though, I am very surprised that I haven't been at all sore.  Probably the cardio is wiping me out so much that I'm not clenching all the muscles I'm supposed to.  :)

How about you?

Hi Girls,

Dropping in to say Hi!  Glad to hear you guys are enjoying your turbo.  I did two days last week at the gym with two totally different instructors.  Both good, but just different.

I will agree sometimes the moves are confusing, but the more you do it - the easier it will become.  I finally felt like some of the tougher moves were finally clicking on friday.  BUT the cardio part of it does kick my butt too.  When the class hits the 45 minute mark, my body is screaming at me to stop!

Sheila

Hi Sheila - The section where Chalean has you do side to side lunges mixed in with kicks just absolutely kills me.  I haven't been able to get through that part without little breaks yet, but I'll get there.

The one thing that would be nice about taking a live class is being able to get feedback on my form.  I suppose I could install floor to ceiling mirrors in my basement, but that would just be scary!Surprised

Hi Cat,

The side lunges are always killer.  Sometime my legs feel like jello when I am all finished.

I think there is pros and cons to home workout and gym classes.  I know Chalean is THE queen of turbo, so you get instruction from the best. The individual instruction is always different at the gym.  If I had a basement, I would probably opt for the home workout too.  Mirrors...maybe in a few months!

I took my measurments last week and will do it again in two weeks.  Let's just say I have LOTS to work on Foot in mouth.

So I have yet to do the 45 minute Cardio Party...I popped it in and within 2 minutes I was lost.  I went back to the Learn and Burn and did the 20 minute workout.  I plan on tryin the 45 minute Cardio Party today after work!!

I dont feel sore after doing the workouts just completely sweaty and my face is beet red!  I do enjoy the workouts...just get so frustrated when I cant catch on and she is like "Don't worry if you don't get it, you will next time".  I know I can do it but it will not be the 2 or 3rd time...haha!

I also took my measurements and pictures...I have a ton of work to do!!!! Oh and half the time I dont hear the music...I am trying to mock what they are doing haha.

Also...did anyone get those weighted gloves???  Mine are small!!  They are too uncomfortable to even wear!!

Yeah - I have the gloves.  They fit kind of weird on me.  I have wide palms but very short hands so they are a tight fit where they're supposed to velcro and the finger holes end up around the middle of my fingers.  They definitely up the intensity though.

And really don't worry about not getting the moves right away.  It's taking me three of four times to learn each new routine so that I don't stand there staring at the TV like an idiot.  I think that's why I didn't like the Cardio Party at first.  The moves were all different and I was so lost I got discouraged.

I haven't weighed myself or taken measurements again.  The first weekend I forgot, this past weekend was TTOM (definitely not stepping on a scale then!!!).  Hopefully I'll have progress to report after this weekend's weigh-in.

I love Turbo Jam.  I have one of the dvd's...I'll have to check but I think I have cardio party 3.  I think i'll do it tomorrow :p  I used to do it all the time and loved it.  It's one of the few amusing dvd's out there with good music too :)

refoc - did you try wearing the gloves backwards - with the weight on the back of your hand?  That may help.

Hi all im new to this forum and I think it is awsome! all the free tools are great! I haveou been doing turbo jam since november and it is a great workout! and I love to join the challenge I need to step it up a bet so I am adding some of my other videos to my weekly workout so that my body cant get use to doing just turbo jam I also do a yoga video for a total body stretch and walk away the pounds for lower impact this is working great and it keeps me from being bored.
