Starvation mooooode

Quote  |  Reply
I eat about 1200 cals day, and burn about 400 at the gym everyday, for about the past two weeks and haven't lost a pound.  I know about this "starvation mode" thing, but if I keep my routine up, will I see result soon??

i would guess not (?)  it sounds like that means your only getting a net of 800 calories a day and that's wayyyy too low for someone in general but also someone who is exercising... if your working out, your building muscle and your body needs proteins and nutrients to feed the muscles or just doing more damage to yourself then helping.... you should probably take in at least a couple hunder more calories to feed the exercise.

I don't know any of your stats, but you are not eating enough regardless. 1200 calories a day is a minimum for SEDENTARY females.

I would recommend that you increase your intake to maintenance for 2-3 days to shock you metabolism. Then decrease to a more appropriate level for you.

addition - 1200 calories a day is a minimum for SEDENTARY, small, young females.

how much do you burn a day, including exercise? chances are, it's a lot higher than 1200, and you need to be eating more.

No. You need to eat more.

'nother vote for eat more.

I can always tell when I'm not eating enough, either with increased movement or under-eating because my weightloss will stall.  I eat more to compensate for what my body wants and it reciprocates by dropping weight.

Listen to your body and up your cals.

Here's another..... Eat a little more... If that is you in that pic ...I think you look great...So don't starve your self

Yeah girl, you're doing yourself more harm than good.  Your body will start turning on itself if you keep working out and eating that little and you'll actually lose ground on the fitness side while not cutting any weight.

Bring your intake up and try doing a little cardio after your workout.  I have to force myself to get in the neighborhood of 1800-2000 a day and I'm lifting hardcore and doing 22 minutes of high intensity interval training every other day.

I know it seems weird to eat even when you're not particularly hungry, but I notice that ever since I started doing the HIIT and making sure I get enough food throughout the day, my weight loss, which had plateaued a bit, has started right back up--after nearly 3 months at the same weight, when I upped my intake a little and started that different (and shorter) cardio program, I dropped five pounds in about the first two weeks, and I'm eating every 3-4 hours all day long.

You're not doing yourself any favors eating that little.  Not only will you get frustrated at the lack of weight loss, eating so few calories will start causing you other troubles soon if it hasn't already.  For the record, in case you think maybe I'm speaking from a different goal mindset than you are (bulking up instead of getting skinny), I've been trying to get to between 10 and 12 percent body fat myself, which is significantly less than where I began.

And yeah--triaxletrixy's right.  You look fine now.  Don't try to go all supermodel on yourself.  It's bad for you and not worth it.

Enjoy life--a couple of cookies never hurt anybody. Tongue out

iheffern,

pistolpete is on the money.  you need to up your calories.  Try several smaller meals per day (5-6) and you need to burn more calories.  You should be able to burn 400 in a good twenty minute cardio session.  Try shooting for 500-600 in a hour at the gym.  Go for 30mins of cardio combined with cardio weight routine and calestinics (sp).

I concur with everyone else.. Eat more
